The characteristics of the popular literature in the novel The mystery of the yellow room by GAston Leroux

TITLE OF THESIS: The characteristics of the popular literature in the novel The mystery of the yellow room by Gaston Leroux SUPERVISOR: Dr. PhDr. Renáta Listíková, MCF AUTHOR: Dana Langová DEPARTMENT: Department of French Language and Literature ABSTRACT: The aim of this bachelor's thesis "The characteristics of the popular literature in the novel The Mystery of the Yellow Room by Gaston Leroux" is to demonstrate why the popular literature is so popular among a broad audience and how it achieves this favour among the readers. The characteristics of the popular literature and its differentiation from belles-lettres are shown in the introductory part of the thesis. The next is a presentation of the main features that attract readers and make this literature so popular. The paratext, a secondary component of the book (title, author, edition, the appearance of the front page ...), the technique of the narration and the characters could be considered as those features. In order to demonstrate these features of popular literature, one representative has been chosen, namely a crime fiction novel The Mystery of the Yellow Room by Gaston Leroux.
