Consolidation of the Lutheran Confession and Expressions of Religious Life in Northern Europe

Diploma thesis "Consolidation of the Lutheran Confession and Expression of Religious Life in Northern Europe" deals with the Reformation in Northern Europe in years from 1520 to 1560. Thesis covers period from the first manifestations of the Lutheran faith, penetrating from northern Germany to Scandinavia and based on the crisis of Catholic Church and as a result of social and political upheavals, until its anchor and gradual consolidation as a state religion. It shows reforming process in the Nordic countries primarily as a process from above, when serves to the royal crown to limit the power of the Catholic Church and to solve the critical financial situation. Individual chapters - Denmark/Norway, Sweden/Finland, Iceland - dedicated to this process according to the geographical classification, based on the historical context. Scripture and Tradition in the Old Catholic Theology with a regard to the Roman Catholic and the Anglican view

The thesis deals with the significance of the Holy Scriptures and their interpretation in the theology of Old Catholicism. In analysing this connection it briefly sketches the main characteristics of Old Catholic theology. The thesis describes the fundamental elements of God's revelation in history and the main sources of testimony of such revelation. It addresses selected scriptural references to non-written tradition as well as the most significant conclusions of Church councils of the undivided Church which relate to the relationship of the Scripture, the tradition and the authority of the Church's teaching. The thesis further describes the characteristic elements in the thinking of the Church Fathers with regard to the topic in question. It also covers further development in the Western church after 1054, dealing with the contributions of the Council of Trent and the I. Vatican council. A separate chapter deals with the Anglican view. Attention is paid to the history and the contents of the dogmatic constitution Dei Verbum adopted at the II. Vatican council. In the light of the ecumenical dialogues, the thesis describes the specific Old Catholic contribution to the discussion. The conclusion summarises both identical elements and differences in comparison with the concept in Roman Catholic theology.
Comenius Pansophism in comparison with current pedagogical trends

In this work we tried to look into the life of John Amos Comenius. Simultaneously we dismantle his ideological basis, with respect to pansophia. We paused at Comenius perception of faith in God and the individual points Panorthosia. In main chapter, we compared the Comenius pedagogical bases with current educational trends. In conclusion we came to the findings that we specify differences between Comenius thinking and contemporary times. We have pointed out that in the general scale of the world is closer to the ideals of Comenius. As regards the actual pedagogical research, the current education seeks to upgrade its educational methods, but in some places groping through the influence of different opinions. The problem of the present time we have found the utilization of the contemporary world , together with a lack of time. The disadvantages include the still poorly organized curricula, while lack of respect for the teachers. By contrast, a clear positive of today we added the currently open views, efforts to link a multicultural pupil's confidence tendency to wake up in the truest sense.
The Enlightenment and its Impact on the National and Spiritual Formation of People in the Czech Lands during 18th and 19th Century

This master thesis deals with the spiritual progress pointing to a national self-awareness in the Enlightenment era from the beginning until 1848. The Enlightenment is an European phenomenon, which is characterized by a change of thinking, and self-awareness. This idea of tolerance and human emancipation contributed to the reforms of fundamental social, political and ecclesiastical changes. These changes result not only from a philosophical influences, but also from royal reforms during the reign of Maria Theresa and Joseph II in particular. Isabella I. of Castile

The main objective of this work, was to elaborate on the topic of Isabella I. of Castile. The main focus was an emphasis on historical facts, of which I derived from Czech and foreign literatures and historical compendiums. The first part describes the political and economic situation in the Ibe c y I b ' coronation. Further, I look at her biography with a focus on details that could testify about her character and personality. This section provides the basis and support for the second part of this thesis. Besides the historical books, I explore also studies in the field of psychology. In the second part I deal with the motives which led I b g g z d I' interested in her tendency to her fanatical behavior. The theme of the Spanish inquisition in this work occupies a marginal position. The whole work is written with the need to view Isabel from the most different ways. This is supported by typologies of her personality and her tendency to achieve her goals from her position. In conclusion, I summarize the thesis defense, which I had already set out in the introduction of this thesis. Forms of Christian Charity in the Middle ages

The Church always shown interest in the world of sick and those suffering. In its activities it was inspired by opinions and example of Jesus Christ. Help to those in need was considered as integral part of Churches mission. It responded to this challenge by organising help and care. Middle Ages were hard period afflicted by famine, epidemics or wars. Many due to these adverse conditions therefore found themselves in need of Churches care and cried for its help. The first part of the thesis was tasked with defining the term charity and focuses on the problematic of charity in period of early Christian Church. It briefly elaborates on Christian charity as a history of love, with Jesus Christ in its beginning as an impulse for apostles, first Christian communities, Christians living in age of persecution and later in times of free Church. The second part is dedicated to Middle Ages. It attempts to provide intellectual and social frame in which charity in this time found itself. In sub-chapters it determines the historical period of Middle Ages, characterises living conditions in that period with focus on social and economical aspects. Galileo Galilei and His Epoch

This thesis deals with the personality and life of the Tuscan Renaissance scientist Galileo Galilei, a time in which he lived, and his relationship with the Catholic Church. The aim of the thesis is to acquaint the reader with the life of Galileo Galilei and Renaissance society, and thus capture important moments and influences that shaped Galileo's personality and life orientation. The thesis is divided into three main chapters. The first part deals with the Renaissance period and the related European Reformation. It focuses on the Renaissance in Italy, then education, religious situation and seeing the world. The second chapter is dedicated to Galileo's biography, with regard to his work and then researchers who were with Galileo joint activity. The last part refers to the religious situation of 16th to 17th century, considering the Council of Trent, the Roman Inquisition and the cosmology of how the people regarded it in antiquity and later the Catholic Church and scientists in the early modern period. This part especially illustrates the conflict Galileo and the Church. It describes the reasons of the conflict, the trial of Galileo and the consequences that flowed from it. The Outline of History of Human Rights to the Universal Declaration

The thesis is focused on the history of human rights, and their evolution since the time of ancient Greece and Rome to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948. The aim of the work is to make reader acknowledged with major events which influenced the development of human rights. Described are the thoughts of philosophers and significant events that changed the course of development of human rights. There is depicted a situation in ancient Rome and Greece, the period of development of the Christian faith and the Middle Ages and significant modern milestones including French revolution and the emergence of Declaration of Human rights, the reign of Maria Theresa and her son Joseph II. who made o lots of reforms, or revolution of 1848 and finally the emergence of Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948.
Comenius' Consolatory Writings

The submitted work deals with Comenius' consolatory writings. The writings included in the third volume of The Works of Jan Amos Komenský served, in particular, for acquaintance with the consolatory writings. The work examines the subject matter in four parts. At first it explains the historical and personal basis of Comenius' consolatory writings. It shows the brethren priest as a faithful shepherd of the church who in his writings consoles and encourages his sorrowful companions during an exceptionally tempestuous period. It also offers a general overview of Comenius' consolatory literature and a basic description of the individual works, including complementary information. In a special part it focusses on consolatory works as a separate literary genre, their historical development and linkage of Comenius' consolatory works, with emphasis on their theological foundation and practical aim. In the work there is also a literary and theological analysis of a selected consolatory work called Letters to Heaven, in which the author deals with the age-old question of theodicy from the aspect of Christian faith against the background of property inequality. Education and Culture during the reign of Charles IV. Petra Soušková The focus of the paper is to present a balanced interpretation of the history during the reign of Charles IV. Specifically, the culture, education and their main features which substantially determined the development of the Czech nation from 1334 to 1378 are discussed from the political, economical, social and religious aspects. The work is divided into five chapters which specify known interpretations of the topic and summarize the findings of previously published studies. Overall description of the Charles's IV. rule is given in chapter 1. In chapter 2 the character of Charles IV is outlined focusing on his deep religiousness with respect to the events that formed his youth during his travel in France and Italy and also the European and Czech social development, and formation of medieval institutions. The third chapter offers a general overview of the culture and education in the studied period.
