Říhová, Gabriela ; Wokoun, René (advisor) ; Toušek, Václav (referee) ; Kunc, Josef (referee)
The dissertation analyzes the impact of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) on Economic Growth by extension and economic development of the regions of the Czech Republic (CZ) in 1998 -- 2011. Statistical data empirically study determined motivation of investors to locate in economically strong regions. Following the analysis of statistical data, available resources and a field survey, whose output includes three case studies of specific Foreign Investments in the Czech Republic, the analysis examines whether the arrival of a significant foreign direct investor in the region significantly influenced selected characteristics of economic performance, or other selected areas in region (social, environmental, transport etc.). Moreover, in the context of econometric analysis to test the tightness of the relationship between Foreign Direct Investment and Economic Growth using Pearson's coefficient and characteristics of variability. The causal effect of Foreign Direct Investment on Economic Growth (and vice versa) is analyzed using Granger causality test. The conclusion gives an assessment of the significance of Foreign Direct Investment in the regions of the Czech Republic together with the identification of significant effects brought by investments.
Brownfields as places for renewable sources location?
Kunc, Josef ; Frantál, Bohumil ; Klusáček, Petr
Issue of finding suitable methods and solutions of brownfields revitalization has been discussed for several years. Given its multidisciplinary character the solution is very complicated and the succes is not always ensured. Due to frequent contamination and degree of devastation of brownfields, increased demands on implementation of the projects are placed and private capital shows little interest in revitalization process yet. State support is also very important. One of the possible way of brownfields revitalization is installation of renewable energy sources (primarily solar and wind powers) on brownfields sites how is to be seen in developed countries. The aim of the contibution is to point out the occasions mentioned above in the Czech Republic as well.
Analysis of Brownfields Regeneration Occasions: Liberecký Region Example
Černík, J. ; Kunc, Josef
Brownfield is any land degenerated by it ́s previous use. Such areas (and structures in this area) may currently be vacant and it represents a barrier in future balanced development of the area and surroundings. This contribu tion targets on describing the ability of brownfields remediation by using the Principal Component Analysis of socio - economic, spatial and demographic indicators. As a study area was set up the Liberece region. From results it is clear that selected indica tors can satisfactorily describe the ability for remediation only by agricultural brownfields. Regarding to the type of analysed data we can presuppose a significant influence of soft factors on brownfield remediation. Such factors may describe the role of active participation of stakeholders, private motivating factors, inspiration in case of best practices, etc.

The paper is divided into three parts, the first part of the paper analyzes the structure of a revitalized brownfields, in the second part of the paper, the structure of this file is compared with the structure of existing brownfie lds and the third part analyzes the factors revitalization of brownfields. The paper aims to answer the question what functions take the brownfields after revitalization and what factors determine their reuse.
Renewable energy sources as an alternative to the new usage of brownfields
Kunc, Josef ; Klusáček, Petr ; Martinát, Stanislav ; Tonev, P.
The subject of brownfields has recently become a widely discussed issue. The number of abandoned and unused facilities in the Czech Republic is quite large, which results in a number of problems. Typical example of a revitalization is a complex demolition or renewable which would give the place in question a new function. (business, administrative, residential, free-time.). Another typical example is a revitalization of the object or the area while keeping some of its original construction and functional features. An example of an "alternative solution" is to make use of brownfields in a way that would support the development of renewable sources of energy, especially solar and wind power stations, an activity that can be observed in many countries of the world.

Wind energy development and tourism: a threat or the possibility?
Frantál, Bohumil ; Kunc, J. ; Cetkovský, Stanislav ; Kučera, P.
A plan to increase a share of energy production gained from renewable sources has been proclaimed and ratified in most of the European countries including the Czech Republic. The usage of so called clean energy has become a global challenge that raises big controversies on a local and regional level though. Wind turbines turned out to be the most controversial phenomenon for both the scientific and public community. Hereat a social acceptance (community acceptance and political acceptance) is the key question in the planning and realisation process. A potential impacts on landscape character, swirling turbines´ noise and speculations concerning potential negative impacts on tourism have become the main arguments of opposition in the last two three years. The aim of the paper is to analyze, evaluate and empirically verify a potential impact of the wind power developments on tourism on the example of localities of Slezská Harta (dam) and Boží Dar and Kryštofovy Hamry (Ore Mountains).
