Mentioned is the history of nursing education in intensive care and the history of nursing education in the Czech Republic. The next chapter points to the current situation of intensive care, the requirements for qualification education of a nurse and the competence of a nurse specialist. The possibilities of intensive care education, including lifelong learning, are being announced. An integral part is the motivation chapter. The main aim of my thesis was to find out the motivation of nurses to specialize in intensive care. Subsequently, I then mapped the nurses' motivation to continue their education in lifelong learning. Research questions were chosen: 1.What preview do nurses themselves have from intensive care to specialized...

Holečková, Barbora ; Kulířová, Veronika (advisor) ; Maffei Svobodová, Ludmila (referee)
Bipolar disorder is a very serious mental disorder defined by mood swing of pathological nature. It is a chronic disorder, which strongly affects daily life of the patient. Its negative effects can impinge personal relationships and ones performance at work. According to WHO the bipolar disorder is the sixth in the list of main causes leading to lifelong disability. Altering between manic and depressive periods is very difficult, not only for the patient, but for the attending staff as well. In my thesis I will give a thorough characterization of the disorder. Theoretical findings on the topic were acquired via carefully done research in National Library of Medicine and via databases PubMed, Medline, Embase and Medvik. Theoretical part of the thesis is also enhanced with testimonies of actual patients with bipolar disorder. Their stories were acquired via books, research papers and internet discussion forums. I will proceed to refer about specific features of nursing practice based on particular case study of 65 years old patient with bipolar disorder. Medical staff has to aid the patient both during the manic and depressive periods while being greatly attentive. It is necessary to carefully observe behavior of the patient, their verbal and nonverbal communication in order to prevent unsolicited...
Obtaining informed consents during admission of patients in the intensive care unit
Kesmanová, Veronika ; Kulířová, Veronika (advisor) ; Kulhavá, Miluše (referee)
The process of acquiring informed consents from patients belongs to one of the everyday activities of hospital personnel. The duty of submitting informed consent forms to patients is mostly in competence of the doctors. Nurses, however, are present during the entirety of patients' medical care and should be acquainted with all aspects of the informed consent. The process of acquiring the informed consents from patients admitted to intensive care unit (hereinafter ICU) is connected with a multitude of difficulties. The method of statistical analysis of data acquired by the questionnaire construction method was used for this quantitative research. 99 respondents participated in the questionnaire construction. The research took place within one hospital at chosen ICUs. The main goal of this thesis is to evaluate the process of acquiring informed consents from patients from the point of view of nurses and to identify the main issues connected with signing of informed consents. The results of the research show that patients are adequately informed by their physicians before signing the informed consents. Poor medical condition of patients admitted to ICUs may be seen as one of the main issues during the signing of informed consents. The research further shows that 50% of patients don't read the text of...
Education of patients with homocystinuria
Paterová, Terezie ; Kulhavá, Miluše (advisor) ; Kulířová, Veronika (referee)
My bachelor thesis deals with the issue of education of patients and parents of underage patients with homocystinuria. It focuses on the nursing role of a nurse in a metabolic ambulance, where these patients are dispensarized. The theoretical part describes inherited metabolic disorders (IMD), especially homocystinuria, and characterizes general education as well as education aimed at patients with homocystinuria. The practical part was realized by questionnaire survey of patients and parents (legal representatives) of minors by anonymous non-standardized questionnaire of my own composition. The criterion for addressing and selecting respondents was the confirmed diagnosis of homocystinuria. Due to the small incidence (1:83 000) of this disease in the Czech Republic (CR), there were twenty respondents. The aim of the research was to find out if these patients are sufficiently educated and if the patients prefer other forms of education in this area than they have been used to date. The individual results of research were analyzed and presented in the form of graphs and tables. The results of the questionnaire survey showed that education is realized in a comprehensible form, and patients consider education as an important part of the treatment. Patients were satisfied with the form, course and...
The use of an automated external defibrillator by the members of the integrated rescue system - the level of education provided to firemen and policemen
Stejskalová, Radka ; Di Cara, Veronika (advisor) ; Kulířová, Veronika (referee)
The theme for this thesis is based on the European Resuscitation Council's guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation of 2015. One of the important points of these procedures is the use of an automatic external defibrillator (AED). These devices were developed for informed responders without the knowledge of cardiac rhythm diagnostics and allow to perform an early defibrillation of the heart, before the arrival of emergency services. AED is a sophisticated device that is a part of the equipment of I - firefighters and policemen. Training of these so-called first aid responders performs the local emergency service team. Over the years 2015 and 2016, the majority of the professionally active firefighters and police officers in one selected Czech district who have the automatic external defibrillator in their equipment attended a training in how to use this device. The aim of this thesis is to determine whether the concept of the training courses is sufficient. If the theoretical part is well understandable for the respondents, and whether the practical training is sufficient - not only the actual compressions and ventilation, but also the use of an automatic external defibrillator, or whether it would be appropriate to extend this training. In this research I used a quantitative method - an...
Hand hygiene of healthcare workers providing care in a medical facility
Hájková, Iveta ; Kordulová, Pavla (advisor) ; Kulířová, Veronika (referee)
The subject of the bachelor thesis is focused on issues related to hand hygiene in health care workers, in the provision of care in the health facility. Even though this topic is often mentioned, it is in practice less understood or misinterpreted. Sometimes, it is neglected or downplayed by health workers. The theoretical part is divided into 7 chapters. Here is anatomy and physiology of the skin, microbiological and epidemiological situation, measures aimed at eliminating the source and avoiding the route of transmission, effective methods of disinfection, sterilization, elimination of microorganisms and their transmission, in the health facility. Hand hygiene and its techniques, proper use of personal protective equipment, nail hygiene and, last but not least, skin care. Explaining the concept of hospital infection, which increases morbidity and mortality of patients, increases both diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and generally aggravates the quality of care provided with prolonging the period of hospitalization. I have worked on a search for relevant resources on the subject. The sources I drew mainly from WHO guidelines, CDC, Decree No. 306/2012 Coll. and on the basis of a literature search from the National Medical Library. I received the consent to perform the action research from...
Qality of patient life with implanted leadless pacemaker
Skákalíková, Květoslava ; Vrábelová, Petra (advisor) ; Kulířová, Veronika (referee)
Implanting of leadless pacemakers is an innovative alternative to conventional implants. Of important benefit for patients is the minimally invasive approach, the minimalisation of risk of infection in the system and the reduced impact on quality of life when compared with conventional implants. The aim of this work is to review how patients rate their quality of life pre and post implant of the leadless pacemaker. For our research, we opted for a qualitative research method in the form of a standardized questionnaire about the Leadless pacemaker. The questionnaire survey will be conducted from December 2016 until the end of August 2017. The research sample consists of patients who were implanted with the Leadless pacemaker during a four-year period from December 2, 2012 to October 31, 2016 and who attend our hospital's cardiac pacemaker clinic. We would like to present the results obtained in a peer-reviewed journal and in professional cardiology conferences in the nursing section. We present one aspect of treatment (quality of life) at our institution, which has the largest number of implants of Leadless pacemakers in the Czech Republic. keywords: leadless pacemaker, nursing care, pacemaker implant, quality of life
