The influence of government policy towards working mothers on public finances in EU countries

Bachelor thesis deals with the impact of government policy towards working mothers in EU countries. The first part of this work concerns the description of family policy and the European Union's position on family policy. The next part is the theoretical part of the tax credits and their detailed enumeration in selected EU countries. The next part compares the various factors affecting families, which are used in the practical part. The practical part uses linear regression models and data retrieved dealing with dependence or independence of selected variables.
Typology of EU member states' tax systems with an emphasis on Slovakia

The main objective of this bachelor thesis is to create distinctive groups of member states of the European union in terms of their tax systems based on cluster analysis computed in the XLSTAT program on data from the annual report of the European Statistical Office (Eurostat). Partial aim´s task is to assign certain characteristics that best describe such defined groups of states. The theoretical part deals with the definition of the terms tax system, tax mix and tax quota, along with the factors that affect or distort these indicators. The practical part contains the general characteristics of the method of cluster analysis, with an emphasis on the k-means clustering method, which was applied in the analysis. The last chapter contains an author´s description of created clusters that are the outcome of our analysis in the XLSTAT program.
Effective tax rate of corporations in Czech Republic and Germany

In my diploma thesis I deal with an effective tax rate on corporate income. The effective tax rate is an indicator that measures real tax burden, which is due to tax legislation different from tax burden corresponding with statutory tax rate. The aim of my thesis is to analyze the effective tax rate of corporations in Czech Republic and Germany in years 2005 and 2013. In first and second chapter I deal with tax systems in both countries. Following chapter is dedicated to determination methods of effective tax rates. In forth chapter are, based on data from Amadeus database, calculated the effective tax rates of corporations in Czech Republic and Germany. In fifth chapter I focus on causes of differences between effective and statutory tax rate and with reference to the lax I analyze the difference between effective tax rates in years 2005 and 2013.
Comparison of the tax burden of employees in the Czech Republic and in Ireland

The purpose of the thesis is to compare the taxation of the employee income in the Czech Republic and in Ireland with appropriate legislation of 2015. In theoretical part, I describe tax system of both states with an emphasis on taxation of income from employment. The theoretical part contains also a short summary of tax systems development. Practical part is divided into two different sections. First of them is focused on the calculation of effective tax rate for taxpayers in different types of households and the second one deals with the calculation of interval and global progressivity of tax in both countries, together with an analysis of income equality or inequality in society by using the Lorenz curve and the Gini coefficient. The calculations showed a progressive tax effects in both the Czech Republic and Ireland, with higher rate of tax progression and higher degree of income inequality in Ireland. From the perspective of effective income tax rates, higher tax burden is imposed in Ireland. The effective tax rate is on average 13.5 of percentage points higher than in the Czech Republic. This is also confirmed by the legal provision of the relevant tax legislation.
Comparison of the tax burden of employees in the Czech Republic and in Austria

This master´s thesis compares a taxation of employment in the Czech Republic and in Austria. The effective tax rate and the effective rate of the total burden employee analyzes the tax burden on emplyee for various types of taxpayers. The next chapter examines the interval progressivity of taxes in both states and it evaluates, for which taxpayers a degree of progressivity of the income tax is the most sensitive. Lorenz curve before and after taxation in the last chapter shows the distribution of income between employees and the impact of taxation in order to redistribute the income in society. Coefficients compiled from the Lorenz curve for the Czech Republic and Austria quantify the degree of income redistribution through a progressive income tax.
The sovereign debt crisis in the Euro area

This dissertation thesis focuses on complex analysis of the problem, which is the sovereign debt crisis in the Euro area. The aim of this paper is to provide a complex overview and analysis of the current sovereign debt crisis, from the theoretical definition of the term, through an analysis of the causes and consequences of this crisis to outline the economic policy response to it. The text is divided into two parts. The first part deals with theoretical problem solving. In the second part is analyzed and described course of sovereign debt crisis. This section also analyzes in detail causes and consequences of the sovereign debt crisis in certain countries. This section is completed by an analysis of economic policy response to the sovereign debt crisis and an expert estimate of the future development of public debt countries analyzed.
Tax Competition in the USA and in the European Union

The subject matter of the thesis is a comparative analysis of the possibilities of tax competition in the USA and in the European Union. It aims to compare the extent and form of the tax competition within these systems. The thesis consists of five parts. At the beginning, the term tax competition is examined and the possibility of a distinction between fair and unfair tax practices is explored. In the next part the analysis of the US tax system with a focus on competition in the area of direct and indirect taxation is carried out. The third part provides similarly structured analysis of the tax competition in the EU. The fourth part presents the evaluation and the comparison of the tax competition in both systems. The final part concludes with certain normative recommendations for the future of the EU tax system which are made with respect to their applicability for current deliberation of the reform of the taxation in the European Union. The performed analysis yielded interesting results. Contrary to the expectations, it was determined that the tax competition in the US was more intense than in the EU and the tax practices used by some US states included at least the same level of unfairness as those used by some member states in the EU.
Taxation during the financial crisis in the Czech Republic in terms of fiscal policy

The diploma thesis deals with changes in the system of taxation in the Czech Republic, 2008 -- 2013. The aim of the thesis is to analyze particular changes in the system of taxation in each year and determine what form of fiscal policy was applied and whether it was in accordance with tax theory. The examined taxes are: personal and corporate income tax, social security contributions, health insurance, value added tax and excise duties. The first part of the thesis deals with causes and consequences of the financial crisis that began in 2008. The second part of the thesis deals with fiscal policy theory and its measures. The third part of the thesis is an analysis anti-crisis measures applied throughout the European Union during the financial crisis. The fourth part analyzes the changes in the system of taxation in the Czech Republic, 2008 -- 2013.
Comparison of corporate tax burden in Czech Republic and Slovakia

This thesis aims to compare the tax burden on companies in terms of corporate tax rate in Czech Republic and Slovakia. Comparison of taxation between those countries is not only important in international statistics, but also because of the high impact of the tax burden on corporate decision-making on the allocation of investment. The rate of taxation of companies will be compared in two ways, based on evaluation of differences in tax legislation and through comparison of the effective tax rates. The thesis also includes theory concerning the tax burden indicators and their calculation, including the observed effective tax rate. The data used to calculate this indicator of tax burden were obtained from the Amadeus database. Based on the results of the two comparisons, it will be evaluated, in which country is the corporate income tax more favourable for the taxpayers.
Development of the differences between the implicit and the nominal corporate tax rate in the Czech Republic

The thesis entitled Development of the differences between the implicit and the nominal corporate tax rate in the Czech Republic deals with the amount of the implicit and nominal corporate tax rate, particularly the issue of the difference between the amounts of these rates. Examination of the rates follows the description of the characteristics of corporate income tax, the analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of this tax and its share of the total taxation . Furthermore, the thesis analyzed the method of calculating the effective tax rates and implicit tax rates on capital and corporate income. For comparison the thesis includes the analysis of the evolution of nominal and implicit tax rates on corporate income in the European Union and in the Czech Republic . For the final analysis, it is essential that the thesis presented as individual changes in the law on income tax since its introduction into the Czech legal system since 1993 to the present. Only with knowledge of legislative changes, it is possible to determine the relationship between nominal and implicit tax rate on corporate income, which deals with the thesis in the final analysis.
