Communication media in the history of communication: processing resources for a multimedial e-learning project

This bachelor's thesis is dealing with a processing of materials for multimedia, e-learning project currently being prepared by Vyšší odborná škola informačních služeb (VOŠIS). The project is focused on communication history. This thesis describes a research and a processing of materials for one module of a course - Communication media in communication history. The first section depicts a process of the research and criteria for further sorting of materials. The second section goes into individual media types - their characteristics, emergence and development in time. A list of all sources is presented on the last pages of the thesis, however, metadata description of individual sources is due to its extent stored in Moodle (e-learning platform). Graphic materials forming an appendix of the thesis are stored on a DVD inside of a printed version. Electronic form of an appendix was selected in order to maintain quality of photographs.
Electronic journal Ikaros

Bachelor thesis deals with the history of the electronic journal Ikaros in connection with development of the Internet. Opening part gives a definition of electronic publishing and aims at its advantages and disadvantages against paper publishing. The essence of this thesis is description of the content and formal side of Ikaros. This thesis is giving a survey of the editorial and publishing system Drupal as well. The end part describes processes leading to publication of every new issue and marketing tools of propagation. Author of this bachelor thesis also designed a stencil for Ikaros contributors and some possibilities of Ikaros improvements (e. g. expanding by using web 2.0 components).
Factual databases in chemistry

and keywords Bachelor thesis depicts factual databses in the field of chemistry. It focuses mainly on databases that cover all fields of chemistry. The thesis presents a general definition of databases and desribes their history and typology. Examples of various factual chemical information which can be searched through chemical databases, are described and shown. The factual chemical databases CAS REGISTRY, CAS REACT, PubChem, ChemSpider and Reaxys are described in detail and compared. Additionally, examples of chemical information searches in these databases are shown. Examples of specialized chemical databses that focus on specific kind of chemical information are listed. In conclusion, the importance of factual databases in providing relevant and correct chemical information for their users is evaluated. Library Automation Domain Ontology

The dissertation focuses on library automation. It examines relationships between the field of library automation and library management systems and the needs of libraries in relation to the process of library software selection. The main goal of the dissertation has been to create a library automation domain ontology and to develop tools to support a decision-making process of library software selection. The domain ontology has been created; it describes the field of library automation in relation to library systems, which are set in the broader context of the field of library automation and are regarded in terms of needs of libraries in connection to library software change. To obtain terms for ontology entity names both quantitative and mixed research methods were used, namely the analysis of scholarly texts on library automation and library systems; text analyses were performed using Voyant Tools software. Object properties and relationships among entities in ontology are based on the results of a qualitative survey of the needs of libraries in relation to the library management software. Content metadata created by users and information professionals: a comparative analysis

The master thesis is focused on professional and user-generated metadata with emphasis on content metadata. It describes metadata in general, their important characteristics, functions, and types, and defines other related terms. The professional content metadata and user-generated metadata are described in more detail. The analytical part aims to compare professional and user-generated content metadata. For this purpose, a dataset of metadata statements on fiction books collected from dozens of databases was used. It also aims to determine whether user-generated metadata bring additional information to metadata created by professionals.
Analysis of personal data processing processes at the Local Municipality Authority of Praha-Vinoř

This thesis proposes practical solution for to the current issue, that is personal data protection by the General Data Protectinon Regulation (GDPR) in processes oconducted at particular workspace. This workspace is the Local Municipality Authority of Praha-Vinoř. The aim of the thesis is detection of personal data in particular processes and the legality of such processing. In this research it was necessary to define the term of personal data, because the regulation norm itself defines it relatively vaguely. For this definition matrix instrument was used. For detection of personal data in processes conducted at particular workspace, the legality of such instance, but also for the survey of relations between processes Business System Planning method developed by IBM Corporation was used. Research detected instance of personal data, which means that processing of them took place, and the legality of such processing. At the same time it was possible to describe relations among other elements of this environment. As the methodology as well as research results are applicable in context of technical measures regulation, and also for internal regulation of personal data processing.
