The effect of boron and its compounds on setting time of portland cement
Kratochvíl, Jiří ; Švec, Jiří (referee) ; Opravil, Tomáš (advisor)
The aim of this work is to study the influence of boron and its compounds, boric acid and borax, on hydratation of portland cement. The first part describes chemical composition of portland cement and reactivity of its components. The second part deals with hydratation of portland cement. The teoretical part ends with description of retardation of portland cement using gypsum or other sulphate options. The experimental part describes preparation of samples – cement paste – modified by addition of boron, boric acid and borax in diferent concentrations. Results are obtained by evaluation of calorimetric curves, mechanical properties and phase composition. The goal is to describe kinetics of targeted slowed down process of hydratation and to find such addition which would suspend setting of boron modified system entirely. Comparison of effects of each boron-containing compound is based on its concentration and on its kind.

Detection and Vizualization of Features in a Point Cloud
Kratochvíl, Jiří Jaroslav ; Mikeš, Josef (referee) ; Martišek, Dalibor (referee) ; Procházková, Jana (advisor)
The point cloud is an unorganized set of points with 3D coordinates (x, y, z) which represents a real object. These point clouds are acquired by the technology called 3D scanning. This scanning technique can be done by various methods, such as LIDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) or by utilizing recently developed 3D scanners. Point clouds can be therefore used in various applications, such as mechanical or reverse engineering, rapid prototyping, biology, nuclear physics or virtual reality. Therefore in this doctoral Ph.D. thesis, I focus on feature detection and visualization in a point cloud. These features represent parts of the object that can be described by the well--known mathematical model (lines, planes, helices etc.). The points on the sharp edges are especialy problematic for commonly used methods. Therefore, I focus on detection of these problematic points. This doctoral Ph.D. thesis presents a new algorithm for precise detection of these problematic points. Visualization of these points is done by a modified curve fitting algoritm with a new weight function that leads to better results. Each of the proposed methods were tested on real data sets and compared with contemporary published methods.

My diploma thesi´s is proposing a new solution for a redevelopment of a former agricultural area and it surroundings which is located in between a residential area Kamechy and Zebetin. The area is outlined by Kamechy from the north, main road Hostislavova from the west, another main road which is going to be build in future based on an urban plan of city Brno from the south and by a natural monument Pekarna and a equestrian zone from the east. The main goal of my proposal is a radical improvement of accessibility and empowering the interconnection with city life. The proposal consists of recreational zones, buildings, equestrian zone and residential buidlings. Very influential element of the proposal is a river Vrbovec which runs throught the area in a east-west direction. The whole stream channel is proposed as a tranquility area which contains today´s greenery and is also going to be improved be a new outplanting of trees and plants in general.
Alternative aggregates based on secondary raw materials from power industry
Kratochvíl, Jiří ; Kalina, Lukáš (referee) ; Opravil, Tomáš (advisor)
The current usage of both classical and fluid combustion ashes is not sufficient and they are deposited in large quantities. The focus of this master´s thesis is to determine and verify some possibilities of their suitable applications in construction industry, specifically as the alternative aggregates for concrete. After the performed analysis several systems based on both classical and fluid combustion ashes have been proposed. Portland cement and hydrated lime were used as admixtures and binding properties of fluid combustion ashes were also tested. The most important properties were compressive strength and bulk density. The aim was to appropriate an optimal ratio between the addition of modifying substance and resulting strength of prepared aggregate in order to correspond to standards for aggregates for concrete.

The construction site is currently under construction of apartment houses. The building has one underground and four floors. Building structure is created of monolithic reinforced concrete walls placed on concrete grid foundations. The roof is flat. Part of the bachelor´s thesis is the physical model of frameless glazing on a loggia.
Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Selected Polysubstituted Furanones
Kratochvíl, Jiří ; Pour, Milan (advisor) ; Opletalová, Veronika (referee)
The aim of this thesis was to prepare 5-(benzyloxymethyl)-3-(4-bromophenyl)-2,5- dihydrofuran-2-one derived from cytostatically active 5-alkoxymethyl-3-(4-bromophenyl)- 2,5-dihydrofuran-2-ones. However, none of the three proposed synthetic procedures led to the target molecule. Next we focused on the preparation of a series of 5-bis(acetyloxymethyl)-3- aryl-4-phenyl-2,5-dihydrofuran-2-ones with different aryl substitution derived from the antibacterially, antifungally and cytostatically active 5-bis(acetyloxymethyl)-3- (4-bromophenyl)-4-phenyl-2,5-dihydrofuran-2-one. The aim was to explore a relationship between aryl substitution in position 3 and biological activity of the compounds. The spectrum of products was also enriched by 5-acetyloxymethyl-3-aryl-4-phenyl-2,5-dihydrofuran-2-ones. In conclusion aryl substitution leads to a significant decrease or vanishing of the antibacterial, antifungal and cytostatic effects with the exception of 5-acetyloxymethyl-3-aryl-4-phenyl-2,5- dihydrofuran-2-ones, in which marginal antifungal (Absidia corymbifera), antibacterial (Staphycoccus aureus a Staphylococcus epidermidis) and significant cytostatic (L1210, HeLa S3, CCRF-CEM, IC50 < 5 µmol.l-1 ) activities were found.
Deposition of Nanocomposite Thin Films
Kratochvíl, Jiří ; Kylián, Ondřej (advisor) ; Straňák, Vítězslav (referee)
Nanocomposite thin films can find application in photovoltaics, optics, fabrication of sensors, or in biomedicine. This work investigates fabrication and characterization of thin metal-plasma polymer nanocomposite films which have direct application because of their unique optical properties (e.g. SERS - Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy) or antibacterial effects (biomedicine). We fabricated metal nanoparticles either by magnetron sputtering (island growth) or by means of gas aggregation source of nanoparticles, thereby we got nanoparticles with very different morphologies. We used silver as a material for nanoparticles because of its antibacterial effects. We incorporated these nanoparticles into sputtered Nylon and sputtered PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) plasma polymer matrix. These two polymers have very different chemical structure and related different surface energy. First, we compared growth of nanoparticles on substrates of sputtered Nylon and PTFE. Then we compared properties of sandwich nanocomposites polymer-Ag-polymer for both types of nanoparticles and for both matrix materials. We characterized produced thin films especially with respect to their stability in water (antibacterial films), thermal stability (sterilization by heating) and stability on the open air (storage). Finally, the tests...
Fabrication of metal nanoclusters and their characterization
Kratochvíl, Jiří ; Kylián, Ondřej (advisor) ; Kousal, Jaroslav (referee)
Copper nanoclusters have potencial for fabrication of nanostructured surfaces, which can be used in electronics, electrotechnics, optics and in biomedical applications. To create such surfaces, it is necessary to create and characterize the nanoclusters deeply first and this is the main topic of this work. First, we found repeatable procedure to create copper nanoclusters by the gas aggregation nanocluster source. We studied homogenity of prepared surfaces by quartz crystal microbalance and optical ellipsometry, we determined conditions for deposition of homogeneous coatings. Next, we studied deposition rate in dependence on the magnetron current, pressure in the aggregation and deposition chambers. Deposition rate linearly increased with current, but in low currents it was nearly zero. Furthermore, we found maximum deposition rate for a given pressure in the aggregation chamber and determined the range of pressure in deposition chamber where it is possible to deposit thin films of copper nanoclusters. This is important for fabrication of nanocomposite surfaces. We studied also the size, shape of nanoclusters and growth of surface by scanning electron microscope. The surfaces were very porous. We measured roughness and optical absorbance where anomalous optical absorption was found. Finally, we found that...
