Navigation Mesh for the Virtual Environment of Unreal Tournament 2004
Tomek, Jakub ; Gemrot, Jakub (advisor) ; Krajíček, Václav (referee)
Navigation mesh is a form of representation of a virtual environment, which allows effective navigation of intelligent virtual agents. This thesis deals with the development of a navigation mesh for the intelligent virtual agents in the environment of the computer game Unreal Tournament 2004. Before the development of the navigation mesh, the navigation graph was the only available representation of the environment that the agents could use for navigation. The navigation graph however provides only limited information about the environment. With the use of the navigation mesh the agents are able to navigate in the environment faster and over shorter paths. Creation of the navigation mesh from the environment's geometry extracted from Unreal Tournament 2004 map files is a part of the thesis. Finally, a new navigation module for Pogamut 3 - a platform that allows creation and controlling of intelligent virtual agents, is implemented. The new navigation module consists of the navigation mesh and a set of navigation algorithms Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Digital Reconstructed Radiography
Chovanec, Andrej ; Pelikán, Josef (advisor) ; Krajíček, Václav (referee)
X-ray examination is an important part of the medical treatment. Despite all the advantages it introduces, it brings some limitations as well. In the present work we describe a technique that from the acquired CT data reconstructs a digital x-ray image and removes some drawbacks of traditional x-ray screening. Among the most significant improvements over the classical radiography belong generation of the screen from very arbitrary angle and interactive rotation of the image in real-time. In order to obtain the most realistic final image, we put the emphasis on the accurate simulation of physical properties of the x-ray radiation. We also try to get as low computational time needed to gain one image as possible. For this purpose we present a parallelization model that decomposes the required work of some components into several processors' cores and thus noticeably decreases the running time of the algorithm.

The bachelor work is focused on triangle meshes mending. It includes topological and also geometrical aspects. I continue working on Individual Software Project and Software Praxis. Before I have created program capable of detecting and repairing some of triangle mesh errors. Main goal of creation such a program was a research using scans of human faces at Faculty of Anthropology of Nature Science at Charles University in Prague. There are analyzed issues and there are evaluated existing solution in this paper. In second section I describe implemented algorithms, user's and programmer's documentation as well. The results are demonstrated At the end and there are proposed some future extensions.
GeoGen - Scriptable generator of terrain height maps
Zábský, Matěj ; Petříček, Martin (advisor) ; Krajíček, Václav (referee)
This thesis presents a scriptable terrain height map generator. Its scripts are written in a powerful C-like scripting language. Terrain generation tools available include random noise generators, filters, combiners, masking functions and natural erosion simulators. Graphical script development environment which integrates the generator with modern code editor, interactive 3D height map viewer and other tools is presented. Existing terrain creation tools are analyzed. Various algorithms used in terrain generation are discussed. Example scripts written for this generator are presented.
Wang Tiles for Frequency-Based Synthesis of Ocean Surfaces
Vámošová, Mária ; Wilkie, Alexander (advisor) ; Krajíček, Václav (referee)
Frequency-based ocean synthesis is a class of methods for generating ocean waves in deep water using physically based ocean spectra provided by oceanographic research. The output of these methods is a heightfield which is periodic and can be used to tile a larger area. However, when using a larger number of tiles, a repetition pattern becomes apparent. Wang tiling is a method of tiling the plane non- periodically by using only a small set of input tiles with given constraints. The aim of this thesis is to create a set of Wang Tiles, each of which represents an ocean heightfield synthesised by a frequency- based method, so one can create large ocean scenes without apparent periodicity in the tiling pattern. Volume data editor
Kavalík, Jiří ; Krajíček, Václav (advisor) ; Kolomazník, Jan (referee)
In the present work we want to design and implement simple tool for basic editing of volume data like resizing, rotating, tresholding retouching, which could be extended as needed. Currently, there are tools for volume data visualisation and simple editors for modding computer games with voxel-based graphics. There is not an editor with basic set of tools for editing volumes in resolution of medical scanners available to common user. The designed and implemented editor can run on common hardware and oth ers set of simple brushes and filters to the user and means to implement diferent tools as plugins for C# programmer.
Volume measurement in 3D data
Krajíček, Václav ; Pelikán, Josef (advisor) ; Felkel, Petr (referee)
Medical diagnostics using computed tomography or magnetic resonance is a common part of complex medical checkup for a long time. These devices produce vast volumes of data, which must be analyzed by an expert physician. There is a big space for utilising computers to aid medical diagnosis, or visualization. This work aims to measure volume of a specific organ in the human body, like kidneys or spleen. To measure volume of the organ it is necessary to reconstruct the object from three-dimensional data. Reconstruction is based on segmentation of the image data, which separates reconstructed organs from the background. The task of segmentation is specially adapted to this kind of data, which are, from specimen to specimen, characterized by big similarity in common shape, but also by big heterogeneity in tiny details. Deformable models were chosen as a primary tool for the segmentation of three-dimensional volumes. They are also the main topic of this work. Programs measuring volume in medical data exist, but thanks to increasing performance of modern computers it is possible to implement new algorithms, which are not present in today's software tools. The result of this work is a system which segments and measures volume in medical data. We also perform benchmarks, which expose an error of the measurement with...
Symmetry of triangle meshes
Vévoda, Petr ; Pelikán, Josef (advisor) ; Krajíček, Václav (referee)
Triangle meshes belong to methods of storing a surface of a threedimensional object in computer memory. A human face can be represented this way too. Findings about symmetry of faces are valuable for a variety of fields of study such as anthropology, medicine, criminalistics or psychology. For computing an approximate plane of symmetry of a face we have proposed an algorithm based on a gradient method, which minimizes distance between its mesh and its symmetric image over a set of all planes. However, it is possible to apply this algorithm to an arbitrary mesh and use its landmarks too. We have integrated the implementation covering also results visualization into Morphome3cs project focused on computations in anthropology.
User Interfaces for Editing Transfer Functions
Svoboda, Michal ; Maršálek, Lukáš (advisor) ; Krajíček, Václav (referee)
Visualization of volume data is nowadays still actual theme in computer graphics. The reason is a significant role of volume data in fields such as medicine, biology or simulation of physics experiments. In order to create informative visualizations of volume data, it is necessary to create so-called "transfer functions" that maps input values to a displayable quantity. Creating transfer functions is often difficult and lengthy process. Often considerable expertise is also required from the user. The aim of this work is to design user interface for creating and editing transfer functions, which would work as intuitively as possible. The basic requirement is a direct interaction between transfer function and displayed data. The result of this work is user interface, which does not put high demands on specialized knowledge of the user.
Upward view as a sensor in mobile robotics
Musílek, Jan ; Iša, Jiří (advisor) ; Krajíček, Václav (referee)
The use of a wide spectrum of sensors is an inherent aspect of mobile robotics. This work examines nontraditional use of the camera, directed vertically upwards, as a sensor for orienting in space. It describes various objects that can be detected in the camera image, focusing on so-called points of interest, and their pairing between two images. Based on the approximate solution of a system of linear equations, we provide information on the relative and absolute position of the robot. The work provides analysis of pairs of images, differing only the robot's rotation in place over various angles. The goal was to demonstrate the possibility of substitution of the electronic compass in cases of strong electromagnetic inter ference. Data from the image analysis was compared with that from the compass, allowing determination of the accuracy of the proposed method. The result is that upward view can be indeed used as a replacement for the electronic compass. Additionally, several modifications to the images are proposed. We examine impact of these modification on the accuracy of the suggested method. Finally, attention is given to the robotic platform on which the experiments were carried out, and the results of the measurements are interpreted.
