Shared custody and its influence on a child's success in primary school

This diploma thesis deals with the problem of shared custody of children at primary school in relation to their school success. The issue is viewed from the perspective of primary school teachers and from the perspective of a school psychologist. The theoretical part deals with a child at primary school and also with child, who has special educational needs. It also deals with family, parental responsibility, discusses divorce, shared custody, school success and failure. The empirical part, through empirical research, aims to answer the question: "How does shared custody affect the school success of a child at primary school?"It examines the manifestations of children in shared custody, it looks for specific causes of problems of these children or specific factors ensuring smooth course of shared custody. It collects recommendations from teachers and school psychologist on how to work with and help these children. It also provides recommendations on who to work with and how - including cooperation with parents. It shows the level of teachers' awareness of this issue and their personal views on the issue. Shared child care in legislative documents and in real situations of families with preschool children

Focus of this Bachelor Thesis is the shared custody of the preschool child, its legislative aspects and the deep insight into the actual situations of families that share custody over their children. The thesis consists of two parts, theoretical and practical. Theoretical part describes family, its function and the need for family in children lives. Other topics covered are family crisis, family breakdown, ways of child raising after the divorce. The theoretical part is concluded with legislative aspects of shared custody in the law system of the Czech Republic. Practical Part includes the research conducted in three families in the course of one month - October 2019. Research objective is to learn if families find the shared custody to be the suitable solution of their situation, how it influenced life of the mother and father of the child and what are the positive and negative aspects of shared custody. The research also tries to find and tackle possible changes in child behaviour as a result of shared custody. The main research method is qualitative research in the form of a structured interview separately done with all of the involved parents. Multicultural education at a primary school

The topic of the thesis is mapping the issue of multicultural education at primary schools. The main aim is to penetrate the current structures, to assess the possibilities of the teacher's work in the school environment and to find other ways of multicultural education of pupils in relation to the findings. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the legal environment of the issue at the level of the Czech Republic and the anchoring of multicultural education in curricular documents. It describes possible ways of thinking and approaches in contemporary intercultural education as well. It also includes the possibilities and principles of the educational process from the teacher's personality, his own competences, setting goals and content, appropriate forms and methods of work to the pupils and other factors influencing the lesson of multicultural education. Effective communication of primary school teachers with parents

This thesis addresses the difficulties in communication between teachers and parents. Its' goal is to point out the effective communication strategies used by experienced educators during their conversations with parents of elementary school children. In the theoretical part of the thesis, it focuses on communication and its' forms, on explanation of the school/family relationship with regards to expectations of both sides, and on parent typology. It also describes conversational structure and organization, and states the basics of effective communication through dialogue alongside the rules of successful conversation between a teacher and a parent. The research in the empirical part of the thesis had been carried out in a form of a qualitative dialogue with four experienced educators. The amassed data was later processed, analyzed and evaluated in comparison with scientific literature. The results of the research have the form of answers to the predesigned questions and these answers accurately display basic strategies of effective communication, which had shown repeated success for their users, the teachers. Bilingual Teaching at the International School

The diploma thesis concentrates on characteristics of bilingual teaching at international school. The aim of this thesis is to find out, how is the bilingual teaching at international school organized, what are the specifics of the bilingual teaching, its advantages and disadvatages. The theoretical part of this thesis based on the literature review describes the terms bilingualism, bilingual teaching and international school. The practical part of this thesis is a case study, which describes the organization of bilingual teaching at two Prague international schools. As a method of research were the document analyses and interviews with teachers, who are teaching at bilingual programms in these schools. The outcome of this thesis is data analyses from documents and interviews and based of this analyses determines the recommendation of making bilingual teaching more effective. Education of pupils of primary school how not to be consumers

The theoretical part of the presented diploma thesis aims to suggest a way to encourage non- consumer way of life in today's pupils at lower level in primary school (first school). Promotion of non-consumerism is based on the aims and principles stated in current Czech official curricular documents. The issues connected to consumerism, its formation and consequences are explained. Furthermore, general ways to avoid consumer way of life are suggested. A deeper insight is provided using pedagogical constructivism, with focus on the evocation phase, part of the "E-U-R model". This phase helps to motivate pupils and to discover what conceptions children have of consumerism. For this reason, the theoretical part also provides a closer look at children's conceptions. Considering the fact that consumer way of life is influenced by personal moral values, a section of the theoretical part deals with moral development of a child, focusing on a crucial age of 9-10, when the conception of moral realism changes. Meetings with seniors as an opportunity to teach younger pupils

This Master Thesis deals with the problematics of meeting younger pupils with seniors. The theoretical part of this thesis is generally about intergenerational learning, as well about intergenerational learning in different environments and other connections. I am looking for an answer to the question of whether it is attractive for teachers organize meetings of pupils with seniors in their teaching, under what conditions they do so, what prevents teachers from organizing intergenerational learning if they do not. It also deals with the current changes in families and the importance of intergenerational meetings. Practical part of the thesis is divided into three parts. The first part is pre-research, based on that we learn topicality of the topic. The main goal of the thesis, which based on a questionnaire construction, is to know if teachers think that meeting of pupils and pensioners during classes is helpful for pupils. Primary school teacher in an excluded location

The work of teacher in excluded localities with Romany pupils is demanding, it requires a high degree of resilience, adaptability, perseverance and resilience. Children growing up in an environment of social exclusion have acquired values, habits and behavior patterns that make it more difficult for them to integrate into the school environment. A teacher from an excluded location should understand the acting and behavior of Romany pupils and help these pupils to successfully master the educational process. The aim of my work is to find out the specifics of the teacher's work in the excluded locality. The qualitatively oriented research is focused on the problems, that teachers face from Roman pupils in their education in excluded localities, their opinions on the education of Romany pupils and on their motivation to educate these pupils in an excluded location. Data are obtained using semi-structured interviews with teachers from excluded localities. The conclusion of my work is a discussion of the research results, where the information from the professional literature is compared with my personal experience and the respondents' testimonies. Formative Assessment in the Educational Area Man and His World

The presented diploma thesis deals with the use of formative assessment in the educational area Man and His World. Its outcome offers a possible way of solving the shortcomings of the area in question which negatively affects pupils' attitudes towards the school subjects of this educational area. The theoretical part presents findings about the assessment in general, namely its definition, presentation of functions, types and forms of assessment. It also emphasizes the relationship between the objectives and assessment which will be a pivotal one in the educational area in question. It also discusses the specifics of this educational area in relation to the impact on pupils' attitudes. Findings about formative assessment are focused on the definition, analysis of advantages and methods of implementation into teaching. The empirical part is based on the findings from the theoretical part and is carried out by a mixed research design. Questionnaire, interview and observation was used as methods to conduct the research. The aim was to find out whether the pupils who are assessed formatively have a more positive attitude than the pupils, who are assessed only summatively.
