Portable digital photo viewer
Poštulka, Petr ; Galamboš, Leo (referee) ; Kopecký, Michal (advisor)
The bachelor thesis describes the design and implementation of a portable digital photo browser. The importance was put on ease of extendibility and platform independency as the browser is primarily destined to be put together with photos on a CD or DVD. The browser offers display of various EXIF information, it allows the user to save additional information on chosen photos and perform searches on the basis of such additional data. At the same time, it offers a flexible user interface that could be customised to fit each user's preference.
Versatile O/R database manager
Plonka, Jan ; Říha, Antonín (referee) ; Kopecký, Michal (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is to design and implement a tool for the O/R databases administration. It places emphasis on maintainability, univerzality and extensibility of the solution. Without a need of installation, using web browser, it is possible to administrate remote databases from client workstation. The tool is easily extensible to support a new DBMS as well as a new object type within existing DBMS. The tool is intented for interactive schema management.
Benefits of object-relational technology
Paľo, Martin ; Říha, Antonín (advisor) ; Kopecký, Michal (referee)
Lately, object-relational databases have become increasingly popular. Compared to the traditional approach, they provide many new possibilities. This thesis describes the general requirements on object- relationaJ systems and the new object-relationaJ enhancement of Oracle, as well as similar enhancements of other well-known database systems and their comparison with the SQL: 1999 database standard requirements. An essentia1 part of this thesis is concerned with the comparison of the relational and object-relational in1pJementation of the student information system using the Oracle 9i database server. Multidimensional Indexing for relational DBMS
Hoksza, David ; Kopecký, Michal (referee) ; Skopal, Tomáš (advisor)
The goal of this work was to implement a multidimensional indexing method into a database system and compare this method with existing implemtations of multidimensional indexing methods in current database platforms (MSSQL, Oracle, ... ). PostgreSQL was chosen for the implementation, because it suits the requirements of integrating own access methods in a modular way. The active development comunity which this platform unites has also played a part, since it assures help with problems related to the development. Last but not least, PostgreSQL was also chosen because its source code is accessible This was priceless in the effort of understanding the core of PostgreSQL (mainly work with memory), which has direct influence on user defined access methods, especially indexes. An already existing implementation of R-tree over object framework ATOM was used as an indexing method, which allows implementing of persistent tree structures. As a direct consequence of the work, not only has arised the implementation of Rtree in PostgreSQL, but also a generic framework which allows implementing external indexing in PostgreSQL with a minimum knowledge of how PostgreSQL works. The user of the framework implements his/her own persistent searchnig methods and connects these methods to the mentioned framework, which provides...
Web Content Management System
Lučanský, Ján ; Galamboš, Leo (referee) ; Kopecký, Michal (advisor)
This work describes web content management systems (CMS). It discusses what CMS systems are and what are general characteristics and requirements of these systems. Work further analyzes existing CMS solutions. The main part focuses on CMS system which is a product of author of this work. The system aims primarily on generating forms and form validation. It also specializes on processing data from these forms. In particular it focuses on their creating, editing and erasing. System contains also easily administrable tools for presenting these data. System is also capable of exporting these data to PDF, XML and CSV formats. In addition, system enables user to generate pie charts. A considerable part of the solution comprises tools for presenting data on public web pages.
Konvertor Word-to-LaTeX
Kebrt, Michal ; Kopecký, Michal (referee) ; Skopal, Tomáš (advisor)
This work is devoted to Word-to-LATEX program that converts documents written in Microsoft Word into LATEX format which is suitable for typesetting books, manuscripts, scientiffic articles, etc. The program can be customized so much that it enables to produce completely different output formats (e.g. XML). In this work I also tried to compare text processors and LATEX format and emphasise their pros and cons. The Microsoft Word object model is briefly described, its problems and limitations are also covered. Finally, the way of improving performance of applications that automate Word is suggested.
Alternative search engine for EGOTHOR system
Košalko, Martin ; Galamboš, Leo (referee) ; Kopecký, Michal (advisor)
Nowadays, it is necessary to process huge amount of information what is reflected by actual trends in informatics. The objective of the thesis is to give the theoretical analysis and implementation of processing and searching tool which allows the user to go through a huge number of unstructured document collections. Such system is called the information retrieval system. This work is an alternative to already existed system Egothor, which is the implementation of boolean model. Because of the possibility of comparing the results from retrieval system models, the implemented system is established on a competitive vector model. In this work is also created one modular system which allows comparing and processing the results from any independent information retrieval systems to one integrated review. This system is called the optimal retrieval system. The precision and recall - the subjective qualitative parameters of system are growing up. The optimal retrieval system was tested in configuration with two underlying systems what practically approved it's advantages.
Personalized Metasearch Engine
Ciml, Jaroslav ; Galamboš, Leo (advisor) ; Kopecký, Michal (referee)
There are many search engines designed to help find information stored n the Web. Different search engines often return completely different result lists for the same query. It can be useful to see the results from more of them. Furthermore the right choice of the search engines may vary from user to user. A meta-search engine is a tool that accpets a query from user, chooses the most suitable search engines and sends them the query. After the search engines return their responses, the meta-search engine combines these results into a single list that is displayed to the user. The objective of this work is to design and implement a meta-search engine with a user profile support.
Information filtering in XML documents
Pilátová, Michaela ; Pokorný, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Kopecký, Michal (referee)
With a growing amount of information available on the Internet and by other technologies, there is a growing need to distribute data to individua/ users as fast as possible - and only to those who are interested. Publish-subscribe systems allow users to specify their interes/s using profi/es created with an appropriate query language, thus order receiving required information from all available sources contributing to the syslem. The XML language nowadays belongs to the most important standards used for data exchange. This thesis deals with publish-subscribe systems working with data in XML data forma!. Methods of effective filtration of XML data and general techniques used in publish-subscribe systems for delivery of pertinent data to users are discussed there. Also, a prototype of a simple publish-subscribe syslem working with XML - Xm/Part - is implemented. A couple of techniques connected to information delivery is implemented and tested using this syslem on real data. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
