Schizophrenia: Impact on quality of life

Veronika Konopásková Schizophrenia: Impact on quality of life Annotation The goal of the thesis is to understand the impact of schizophrenia on quality of life of the patient. Schizophrenia is defined and its most common forms and symptoms are presented. I describe the origin, course and prognosis of the disease. I focus on the concept of relapse and suicide risk in patients with schizophrenia. Treatise on the treatment is divided into psychosocial and biological methods. I deal with the concept of Quality of life in general and in connection with schizophrenia. I discuss the problem of stigmatization of the mentally ill patients. The example of three selected organizations (Baobab, ESET-HELP, DPS "Ondřejov") illustrates the wide range of psychosocial rehabilitation programs offered for mentally ill. To capture authentically all aspects of life with schizophrenia, I conducted three in-depth interviews with persons diagnosed with schizophrenia. My work deals with the esoteric approaches to contemporary women's spirituality. I mapped the current literature on the history of the esoteric and the Czech media that is dedicated to esoteric. Historically focused literature I used to outline the development ofesoteric writing, focusing on the persecution of witches. Field research, I tried to capture the women who are devoted to esoteric, especially the interpretation of cards.

Diploma thesis Problem of homelessness Supervisor: MUDr. Jiřina Ondrušová Author: Bc. Veronika Konopásková Year of submission: 2013 Annotation The topic of the thesis is the problem of homelessness in contemporary Czech society. Specifically, it focuses on the concept of homelessness, its forms, history and presence in the Czech Republic. Further, I describe the lifestyle of homeless people, their health (physical and mental) and the problem of alcoholism among the homeless. I deal with homeless people as crime offenders and victims as well. Some of the practical problems of living as homeless are mentioned (loss of personal documents, the issue of homeless foreigners or the dependence on social services). The example of the Prague branch of civic organisation Naděje illustrates the range of social services for the homeless. Another part of the thesis is a case study of five homeless people. Further, I focus theoretically on public attitudes towards homelessness, including conducting a search of surveys published on this topic. An important part of the thesis is carrying out a quantitative survey on public attitudes towards homelessness. As a fundamental research method is chosen the method of qualitative and quantitative field research, which author answers the designated research questions. Diploma thesis is set into historic-cultural development of the brass music phenomenon, in order to provide comprehensive view on the examined subject.
