Pěničková, Dominika ; Kočíb, Tomáš (advisor) ; Pravečková, Petra (referee)
Title: The reasons of the early career termination of high-performance tennis players. Objectives: The aim of this diploma thesis was to find out and analyze the causes or reasons leading to the involution in women's performance tennis, especially to their early career termination, while their goal was to reach the top level. Method: In this diploma thesis, I used a qualitative type of research. Chosen was a case study variant. Information was collected through semi-structured interview and document data analysis. Results: The survey results prove that there is not one main reason for the early termination of the career of high-performance female tennis players, but several voluntary and involuntary combinations of reasons that led to the termination of the career. Female players end their careers early mainly because of not reaching the required level and the related voluntary focus on studies and future profession. These reasons are a combination of long-term sporting failure (psychological reason) and free choice to leave (personal reason). Other reasons for premature termination are physiological problems, most often injury or illness, which forced female players to stop active activity. Key words: Sports career, reasons for termination sports career, early termination
Stack of exercises for tennis training
Baumová, Tereza ; Kočíb, Tomáš (advisor) ; Pravečková, Petra (referee)
Title: Stack of exercises for tennis preparation Objectives: The aim of the thesis was to create a stack of exercises for four parts of tennis training: technical, tactical, psychological and fitness. Methods: Based on the analysis of the literature, internet sources and using my own experience, a stack of exercises was compiled to serve as a possible inspiration for tennis coaches. This was a deliberate selection of exercises according to my own experience and discretion. The stack included simple exercises for beginners as well as more challenging and less traditional exercises for advanced and more mature players. Results: The exercises in the stack are arranged progressively from the least challenging to the more challenging in each component of preparation. Each section contains at least 10 examples of exercises that focus on a selected issue. For each exercise, the title and objective are given, the exercise is described and explained, and for selected exercises a note, an example, a variation or an illustrative picture or photograph is included. Keywords: tennis exercises, technique, tactics, psychology, fitness
Specifics of tennis training for children with ADHD
Slavíková, Magdalena ; Šteffl, Michal (advisor) ; Kočíb, Tomáš (referee)
Title: Specifics of tennis training for children with ADHD Objectives: The main objective of this study was to propose a set of educational-psychological recommendations and strategies for coaches and parents to maximize the effectiveness and positive effects of tennis training for children with the attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Methods: Three children with ADHD were observed during tennis training. The observation took place during a training session. This method allowed the author to collect data directly in the children's environment. In addition, a controlled structured interview based on ten prepared questions that focused on working with children with ADHD was conducted with a coach of the three children mentioned above. The interview related to working with children with ADHD, teaching strategies and the future of these children in tennis. The interview data were analyzed using the grounded theory, which helped to identify key aspects and patterns in the coach's responses. The results of these analyzes were used to create proposals for pedagogical strategies for working with children with ADHD in tennis. Results: The results of our study provide a comprehensive picture of the situation of children with ADHD in the context of tennis training. Observation revealed specific...

Mikulics, Kateřina ; Kočíb, Tomáš (advisor) ; Carboch, Jan (referee)
Title: A case study of amateur tennis players Objectives: The aim of the bachelor thesis is to evaluate the degree of improvement of tennis technique and accuracy of tennis strokes in pre-selected amateur tennis players. Methods: The first used method was the data collection method using an online survey, the method of direct observation of the players during training units was used to obtain partial results and the third method was testing, which took place at the beginning and end of the training period using the "ITN On Court Assessment". Results: Both players improved their technique and the accuracy of their tennis strokes. Player #1 improved his stroke accuracy by 1 whole level in the "ITN On Court Assessment". In the first testing (at the beginning of the training period) the player scored 126 points, while in the testing at the end of the training period he scored 172 points. Player 2's improvement in stroke accuracy was less, scoring 162 points in the first testing and 175 points in the testing at the end of the training period. Player 2's stroke technique improved twice as much. Players gained awareness of the game of tennis, know the basic rules of the game and know how they should move on the court. Junior tennis technique
Hanzlík, David ; Kočíb, Tomáš (advisor) ; Carboch, Jan (referee)
Title: Junior tennis technique The bachelor's thesis analyzes the technique of shots among junior tennis players, in particular intermediate and advanced players (both males and females) aged between 11 and 15 years of age. It focuses on three basic shots in tennis: forehand, backhand and serve as those are the most frequent shots in the game. This thesis describes individual parts of the research and highlights methods being video recording, testing, observation. With the help of video the thesis analyzes particular details of the level of skill of the shot making of individual players. Objectives: Analysis and evaluation of forehand, backhand and serve technique between tennis players in tennis school. Methods: Video analysis, observation and testing method Results: Based upon the findings, we can conclude that shot making success rate was much higher than that of efficiency amongst the players. As far as technical execution of the shots goes, players had better rating in backhands than forehands. However, efficiency was better in forehand shots. The worst aspect was the serve where technical execution as well as efficiency was far worse than that of backhands and forehands among half the players analyzed. The most common mistakes were: wrong or inadequate use of the center of gravity,...

Tennis-specific, functional, strength, and mobility exercises to improve the performance and prevent injuries
Kosejková, Barbora ; Šteffl, Michal (advisor) ; Kočíb, Tomáš (referee)
Title: Compensatory exercise as one of the possible means of injury prevention for tennis players Aim: The aim of this thesis was based on professional articles and available literature to identify and describe the most common injuries that occur in adult tennis players of all performance levels and then focus on creating a set of compensatory exercises (relaxing, strengthening and stretching) that could lead to reduction. risk of injury. Methods: The thesis was based on empirical character. Both findings from professional literature and articles published in peer-reviewed journals were used. The proposed compensatory exercises were selected on the basis of professional literature and articles, which focused either on the elimination of imbalances and injury prevention in tennis players, or on exercises typical and suitable for tennis player development, whether from performance (skill) or physical (physiological) point of view. Conclusion: Based on the literature and articles, it was found that the most common mechanism of tennis injuries is due to overload, which means that tennis players train more time than optimal and does not sufficiently compensate. As a result, there is a large unilateral load and this can cause many negative changes in the locomotor system. Tennis injuries to players can...
The relationship of the toss to the success of the first service in tennis
Hrychová, Denisa ; Carboch, Jan (advisor) ; Kočíb, Tomáš (referee)
Title: The relationship of the toss to the success of the first service in tennis Objectives: The main aim of this work is to determine how the toss impacts the success rate of first tennis serve for both amateur and professional players. Methods: The initial data set was obtained by method of indirect observation using video recording of 8 professional and 2 amateur players. Each of them did 40 direct serves which were recorded and processed using Dartfish 10 software. Followingly the serves were sorted into categories - successfull, into net, out - long ball and out - on the side. Acquired data was processed using statistical (ANOVA) and effect size (Cohen's d) significance. Results: Based on substantive significance it can be said that for the y-axis the players only reached values of low effect with their serves. Larger effect of substantive significance, namely d=0.94, was reached by average values among serves which were played into the net or were out on the side. Balls, which were hit by professional at highest average hight of 273.7 cm ended up as long ball out. On the contrary, tosses hit at average distance of 63.7 cm from the baseline ended up in the net. A good serve was achieved at average distance of 61.6 cm from the baseline and at average hight of 272.9 cm. Keywords: tennis,...
