Public Awareness of Selective Mutism

This bachelor thesis deals with elective mutism. Attention was paid to the definition, symptomatology and speech therapy intervention of this communication disorder, and above all to the analysis of the level of public awareness of elective mutism. Analyzing the level of public awareness of elective mutism was the main research objective of this paper. The motivation for investigating this issue was the fact that there is currently no research survey in the Czech Republic that would map the public's awareness of elective mutism. However, a higher level of public awareness of this disorder has a positive effect on early diagnosis, and early diagnosis positively affects the success of subsequent therapy. The research was conducted using quantitative research, with a questionnaire used as a research tool. The administration of the questionnaire was carried out online, data collection was completed after obtaining 200 responses. The obtained data were processed in the MS Excel program. Subsequently, two predetermined hypotheses were tested, one of them saying that the level of elective mutism awareness dependents on the field of education of the respondents was confirmed. The Vocabulary in Children at 2 to 3 Years

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of active and passive vocabulary in children aged 2-3 years. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on defining speech development in children, describing in detail the development and evaluation of vocabulary in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and abroad. Additionally, selected categories of impaired communication ability specific to this age group are described, more specifically, developmental dysphasia and delayed speech development. The main goal of the thesis is to test and evaluate the active and passive vocabulary of children at two to three years. The research is of a quantitative nature and presents the results of testing that was conducted using a newly created test of active and passive vocabulary for children at two to three years.
Perceived quality of life of people with post-stroke communication disorder

The bachelor's thesis, whose main aim of the research is to analyse the subjectively perceived quality of life of people with post-stroke aphasia in selected areas, is divided into four main chapters. The first three chapters present theoretical findings on stroke and post-stroke communication disorders. The following topic is the presentation of the issue of quality of life. The last chapter includes the research as such, which has been focused on retirement-age individuals diagnosed with post-stroke aphasia. The qualitative survey was done using the triangulation method, which contained a questionnaire method supplemented by a semi-structured interview. The obtained data were analysed and subsequently interpreted in the thesis text. Research questions concerning selected areas of quality of life were answered in the following part of the work. The impact of communication disorder on the social relationships of persons with post-stroke aphasia could be considered one of the most problematic areas of quality of life. Motor skills in a student with developmental dysphasia at a younger school age

This diploma thesis focuses on motor skills of pupils with developmental language disorder in their middle childhood years. Theoretical part describes the characteristics typical for middle childhood pupil in areas of basic abilities and skills, learning process, emotional development, and socialization. Next chapter of the theoretical part concerns the motor skills of person and define movement skills of pupils with developmental language disorder. In last chapter the diagnosis of developmental language disorder is presented defined form several different points such as ethology, classification, diagnosis, therapy and prognosis. Empiric part of the thesis consists of two research methods, first the test of motor skills and second the survey. The test of motor skill is to provide data about movements skills of pupils with developmental language disorder. For this test was used the ability test provided by Sazka Olympijský víceboj. The ability test focuses on several individual parts of motor skills such as force, speed, coordination, dynamics (explosivity) and flexibility. Possibility of using a speech therapy application as part of speech therapy prevention

The diploma thesis examines the usability of the speech therapy application for children of preschool age in speech therapy prevention. It focuses on the most common deficits in the areas of optical and auditory perception and seriality. It tracks progress, the most common mistakes and areas that are well developed in children. It investigates the possibilities of using the application in common practice during speech therapy prevention in kindergarten for children of preschool age. For the purposes of the research, was chosen a qualitative method, carried out by the method of analysis and interpretation of data from the results of testing eight children from kindergarten aged 4 to 7 years. In order to complete the issue, a structured interview was conducted with a speech therapy assistant who works in a kindergarten. It was found that the created logopedic application can be used both for individual logopedic prevention and in a group. The speech therapy assistant also recommends the application for independent work in the home environment. Furthermore, it was found that the most frequent deficits are in the area of auditory perception, especially the auditory differentiation of words. The bachelor's thesis is focused on speech therapy, it is devoted to the communication skills of children in the compulsory year of preschool education. The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to find out whether there are differences in the area of communication skills among children in the compulsory year of preschool education depending on the length of attendance at kindergarten. The theoretical part introduces the reader to upbringing and educating a child of preschool age and compulsory preschool education, which is closely related to this area. Furthermore, topics related to communication skills are elaborated in the thesis, individual concepts from the field of communication are defined, and the development of communication skills of the child starting primary education is elaborated on. Family and social context of the diagnostic therapeutic process for people with aphasia

The subject of this bachelor's thesis, which deals with one of the sub-fields of special pedagogy - speech therapy - is the provision of speech therapy prevention in kindergartens in the district of Klatovy. The aim of the work is to examine the provision of this prevention in the Klatovy region. The paper is divided into three chapters, while the first two define the theoretical basis of the thesis. With the help of professional literature, the topics of communication, speech therapy intervention with an emphasis on speech therapy prevention, speech development, preschool age or the most frequent types of impaired communication skills occurring in preschool age are defined. The empirical part analyses the data of a qualitative research survey conducted in the form of interviews with teachers in kindergartens. The work explores the course of speech therapy prevention, the cooperation of kindergartens with professional external institutions regarding speech therapy prevention, the tools used as well as the pitfalls in providing prevention. Support of teachers in education of children with developmental dysphasia in a regular kindergarten.

The master's thesis is focused on speech therapy. The aim of the thesis is to support pedagogues in the education of children with developmental dysphasia in a regular kindergarten. The thesis has a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part is divided into three chapters. The first chapter deals with inclusive education and education options for preschool children with impaired communication skills. The next chapter is focused on the characteristic of impaired communication skills - developmental dysphasia, i.e. on its causes, symptoms, diagnosis, and therapy. The last chapter describes the qualifications and professional competence of a regular kindergarten teacher and his role in the education of children with impaired communication skills, namely developmental dysphasia. The practical part of the thesis studies the orientation of ordinary kindergarten teachers in this issue. The research was conducted in the form of interviews with twelve teachers of ordinary kindergartens, and then processed by thematic analysis. In conclusion, a recommendation for practice is created, which serves as a basis for supporting teachers of ordinary kindergartens in the education of children with developmental dysphasia.
