Psychologic concept of guilt in the work of Karl T. Jaspers

The bachelor thesis describes the concept of guilt in the work of german psychologist and philosopher Karl T. Jaspers. The first part is dedicated to introducing Karl Jaspers as author and thinker, the second part will be elaborating on the context of his own thinking in he light of important thinkers who influenced him. The third part analyses in detail Jaspers's fundametal work The Question of German Guilt, while emphasizing moral and metaphysical guilt. The fourth part is dedicated to the issue of collective guilt and Jaspers's view of this matter and tho reactions of other authors. In the fifth part is developed the concept of conscience, which partly answers some of the questions raised in Jaspers's work. Resilience and perceived life purpose

Resilience and perceived life purpose are phenomena which have been getting more and more attention in foreign literature recently. The results of resilience and life purpose research has its own place in psychotherapy, psychological consultancy and preventive care. The purpose of the theoretical part of diploma thesis was first to present the concepts of resilience and perceived life purpose as separate areas, and then to connect them into an interacting unit. The theoretical part of the thesis refers to the age - related specifics of resilience in connection to developmental tasks of each stage. The aim of the empirical part of diploma thesis was to prove the relationship between resilience and perceived life purpose using a research sample (N = 231), which was being measured by three questionnaire methods - Connor - Davidson Resilience Scale (CD - RISC), Life Engagement Test (LET) a LOGO - test. Another step in the empirical part was to find out if there are differences in grades of resilience and perceived life purpose between two groups (age 18 - 30 and 31 - 65). Coping of Stress and Life Events in Connection with Sense of Humor and Psychological Well-being

The theoretical part of the thesis mainly deals with the definition of humor, sense of humor, stress, life events and personal well-being and at the same time presents an overview of the basic theories related to these topics. The aim of the work is to look for individual links between mentioned topics. Primarily tries to highlight the positive impact of a sense of humor for coping with stress and life events. The research seeks to show a sense of humor as one of the coping strategies. The research seeks is based on processing the conclusions brought about a qualitative probe, based on in-depth interviews on a sense of humor and its connections with another variables. Qualitative analysis of verbal material suggests a sense of humor in connection with personal well-being and presents a sense of humor as one of the coping strategies of stress and life events. . Adaptation of seniors as a assumption for successful aging

Successful aging is increasingly topical issue given the rapidly aging population and it is therefore crucial to deal with the way the old people adapt to the coming age, and whether there is some way we can be prepared for it. Model coping with life's problems - selection, optimization and compensation is a lifelong adaptation strategy, which currently in old age leads to successful aging. Besides adaptation are important attitudes towards aging and old age, that have an impact on senior's self-esteem. The main goal of this thesis was to analyze attitudes towards age and the use of model coping with life problems in a sample of younger and older Czech seniors using questionnaires SOC and AAQ. The research had a qualitative aspect, which focused on mapping the topic of retirement planning and strategies for successful aging. It turned out that the younger and older seniors differ from each other only in the use of the strategy chosen selection, in other strategies there was no difference between age groups. In the area of attitudes to each other, age groups also did not differ. The results also show that between using SOC strategies and their own attitude to old age, there is no relationship. Sensation seeking tendency and its relationship to well-being

In the first part, diploma thesis presents theoretical background of well-being and sensation seeking tendency concepts. By analysing available resources in Czech and foreign literature it presents current theoretical understanding of these concepts and discusses their relationship to other psyche phenomena. In the empirical part, research hypotheses about existence of the relationship between well-being represented by SWLS questionnaire (Satisfaction With Life Scale; Diener et al., 1985) and sensation seeking tendency represented by SSS V scale (Sensation Seeking Scale V; Zuckerman, 1979) are examined. As support, Ten-item personality inventory TIPI (Gosling et al., 2003) is used. Two groups of respondents participated in the study: Czech (N = 137) and Slovak (N = 181) which were considered one sample (N = 318). Pearson correlation and hierarchical regression analysis showed negligible significant relationship (r = 0,12; p < 0,05) between sub-scale Experience Seeking (ES) and SWLS. However, EC score did not predict SWLS variance. Overall, study failed to accept hypothesis of existence of the relationship between SWLS and SSS V and hypothesis of mutual independence was accepted. Creativity in visual arts

Motivation seems to be one of the important variables which might have an effect on creativity. It can have a positive but also a negative impact on creativity. In this thesis motivations of fine artists are examined and the extent to which art might effect personality profile of fine artists is considered. In theoretical part, firstly, art, forms of art and the psychology of art are defined. Further artwork as a product of artistic process, structure of personality and specifically the personality of fine artists are described. A complexity of creativity as a phenomenon is presented. Finally motivation from the social psychology of creativity point of view is explained. The aim of this master thesis is to examine certain psychosocial personality traits of fine artists by the Achievement Motivation Inventory LMI and discovered whether there are significant differences in personality traits of fine artists and control group of "non-artists" interested in economy and business (n=63). Our results support the foreign studies results and indicate that artists score significantly higher in Flow, Pride in Productivity and Independence. The effect of Gender on Adolescent's theory of mind

The main aim of this study is to investigate the effect of gender in adolescent Theory of Mind. The term Theory of Mind (TOM) was introduced more than 30 years ago. Most of the TOM studies investigated Theory of Mind among animals, infants, children and clinical patients. Based on literature review, we know that developmental changes do not stop in childhood but continue through adolescence and into adulthood. Evidently there is a lack of studies on Theory of Mind in adolescents, despite the fact that adolescence is a critical stage for social, emotional and relationship skills. One of the variables important for our research is the effect of gender and gender identity. Gender differences are considered one of the least examined aspects of TOM, and further studies are not specifically aimed to gender-related differences. The tests we employed were Reading Mind in the eyes test (revised version, RMET-R) and Bem Sex-Role Inventory (BSRI). Statistical analysis revealed that older adolescents (17- year old) scored significantly higher than younger (16-year old) on the RMET-R test. Significant factors of quality of working life in terms of management in the nonprofit sector

This thesis deals with the issue of quality of work life (QWL), namely the important factors of QWL in terms of the management of non-governmental organizations (NGO). Perception of QWL has a positive effect on job satisfaction, personal well-being and job performance (its productivity and quality). The aim of this mapping study is to determine the important factors of QWL from the subjective perspective. Expert semistructured interviews were used for this purpose. The results indicate that the identified factors are identical with QWL mentioned by individual authors and institutions. The following factors were identified: absence of stress, interpersonal relationships in the workplace, support from the organization, evaluation of work, working environment. The positively evaluated factors include good relations in the workplace, need and utility of service, and self-actualization. The problematic working factors are financial conditions, obligations arising from the legislative framework, uncertainty about the sustainability of services, view of society and the low level of spatial facilities. Psychological Aspects of Obesity

The aim of this thesis "Psychological Aspects of Obesity" is to summarize psychological findings of causes and consequences of obesity, the most common health problem in the world. This thesis extends the topic of the diploma thesis entitled "The Psychological problems of Obesity." The theoretical part deals with many key issues of obesity, from definition through the epidemiology, etiology and obesity prevention and treatment. However the main topics of this thesis are the psychological characteristics associated with obesity. It includes personality factors of obese people, willpower and self- control and specific psychopathology. The research part of this thesis is mapping the occurrence of a specific psychopathological phenomena focusing on the emotional eating disorder, night eating syndrome, binge eating and symptoms of eating disorder. A total of 80 participants who were diagnosed with obesity, combined I. - III. class, attended educational- recondition stay organised by Third Internal Clinic of The General University Hospital in Prague and University Physical Educational Unity.
