Using Advanced xBSD Based Servers for High School
Zadina, Martin ; Michal, Bohumil (referee) ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (advisor)
This work is about setting up Samba software on server with operating system from BSD family to primary domain controller rule in the high school computer network environment with Microsoft Windows stations. After introduction to Samba software there is examined problem of Windows network based on SMB protocol. There are described steps that are necessary to setup Samba software, disk sharing services, creation of user accounts and adding client stations to domain trust. At the next there is described problematic of network printing in the Windows environment, print servers and the solution with classical printing support in FreeBSD and CUPS printing support. In the next part there is described mass installation procedure of Windows stations with same hardware configuration. At the finish, there are noticed some tasks that are necessary for next operation of installed system.
Comparison of Distributed File System Features
Humpa, Vítězslav ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (referee) ; Szőke, Igor (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is to compare parallel ditributed file systems. Thesis aims at GlusterFS, PVFS 2 and Gfarm FS. There is a description of each filesystem's theory, including general installation and configuration information. The text also informs about experimental work done with each system and evaluates test results which are then used to determine ways of filesystems' possible usage at our faculty. All tested filesystems have shown to be stable enough for use in one of the applications on FIT. As it's described in this thesis, GlusterFS would excel at applications that require simultaneous access to many large files (i.e. recorded lectures download system), all filesystems would give roughly the same performance when accessing many small files (i.e. webserver) and PVFS2 and Gfarm FS would be better suited for work with small number of large files (i.e. some distributed calculations).
Embedded System for Water Level Monitoring
Hanák, Jiří ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (referee) ; Šimek, Václav (advisor)
This work is dealing with the design and implementation of an embedded water level monitoring system. The purpose of the system is to control the filling of a tank based on the water level. First of all, the attention is given to the survey of existing measurement techniques and selection of the appropriate sensing elements for a given scenario. In fact, the embedded system is using TFmini and JSN-SR04T-2.0 contactless sensors. The system is controlled by STM32F0 microcontroller from STMicroelectronics programmed in C using HAL abstraction layer. The measured results are sent via Wi-Fi SoC ESP8266EX to the Python server that is used for processing and demonstratiton purposes.
Instant Messenging System
Gach, Marek ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (referee) ; Ráb, Jaroslav (advisor)
Present world of server applications is dynamically developing branch of IT. With multicore CPU appearance well designed multithreading applications gain additional performance. This thesis is trying to sketch out some basis of multithreaded application creation and synchronisation. Usage of this principles will help me to develop general-purpose parallel server core. Whole semantics of communication protocol for message sending is based on that core.
Tax Documentation System for Linux
Prouza, Jakub ; Michal, Bohumil (referee) ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis is about concept and implementation of a system uses for simple tax account management in GNU/Linux operating systems. The application has been created by wxWidgets tools library and user's data are saved and encrypted into a SQLite database. Present situation of programs for tax account management under GNU/Linux systems and the goals of this concept are described in the first chapter. The next chapter is describing terms and procedures which are necessary for understanding of tax account management according law. Other chapters deal with the concept itself and the implementation. Conclusion of the thesis is devoted to a review of benefits and further development of the concept.
Traveling Salesman Problem - Serial Methods
Štys, Jiří ; Bidlo, Michal (referee) ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis describes some algorithm which solves traveling salesman problem by the help of serial methods. This thesis deals with efficiency analysis and scalability of this problem.
Contiki NTP Client
Luštický, Josef ; Čejka, Rudolf (referee) ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (advisor)
This BSc Thesis was performed during a study stay at the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden, Germany. The purpose of this thesis is to describe the operating system Contiki for embedded systems, NTP time synchronisation protocol and to design and implement an NTP client for the Contiki operating system.
Online Deduplication for Btrfs
RedirFS - Application on Directory Merging
Holášek, Petr ; Michal, Bohumil (referee) ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (advisor)
Main purpose of this work is to explore history and methods of directory unions, to make a proposal of design and finally to implement Linux kernel module that merges content of directories using RedirFS framework. We will discuss and solve related problems like namespace overlapping or underlying directories changes.
I/O Subsystem Optimalization Using SSD
Bělousov, Petr ; Chalupníček, Kamil (referee) ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (advisor)
The bachelor thesis examines IO subsystem optimization using SSD cache to speed up HDDs. I examined possible server loads and identified those that are suitable for caching. In the first part I introduce 2 caching solutions, LVM cache and B-cache with their management capabilities and 2 filesystems Ext4 and XFS. In the second part IO performance of LVM cache and B-cache with Ext4 and XFS filesystem is benchmarked and compared to an uncached HDD array.
