The Fantasy World in the Work of Christopher Paolini
KUBÍK, Radovan
The thesis deals with the interpretation of popular fantasy stories of the contemporary American writer Christopher Paolini, in particular, with his tetralogy called The Inheritance Cycle. The theoretical aim is the analysis of Anglo-American adventurous fantasy literature and its mythological background. Special attention is dedicated to the influence of J.R.R. Tolkien, whose lifework inspired Paolini. A single chapter describes life and work of Ch. Paolini. In the following chapters we can find the typology of the main characters, their function and characteristics, the role of the environment and the interpretation of the main motifs. The last chapter includes hypotheses about the ethical message for the young readers in the context of children literature
