Music and sound effects at animated movie

At this thesis I analyse the issue of music and sound at animated shorts and movies, from director viewpoint. This work consists of five parts. The first part is introduction, I am asking the question of music and noise influence on final animated movie. In the second part I analyse the issue of music, its important role in proces of creating atmosphere and emotions and its specificity. I am using some concrete examples. In the third part I am dealing with sound problemacy, rate of stylization and its influence on simplicity of movie plot. Follows the study of chosen movies from applicated sounds viewpoint. The fourth part is about conflict between the music director, sound director and the movie director. And the possibility of different opinion on the whole conception. The last fifth part is a résumé of my observances and rules that are formulated at this work.

Caroline Leaf and her extraordinary animated films

Caroline Leaf ranks among the greatest women cartoonists. Her animated films are renowned for thein emotinal content, graphic style and great, often total, animation. Caroline Leaf made animated films with different techniques of animating, sand on glass, paiting directly on glass under the camera, scratching on film, using 70mm or 35mm films. Her films won many awards. In 1996, she won the Life Achievement Award in the International Animated Film Festival in Zagreb, Croatia, in 2004 in Valencia, Spain, and 2006 in Bratislava, Slovakia.
Chihiro and the Hero's journey

An analysis of the film ?Spirited Away? by Hayao Miyazaki which uses Carol Pearson's archetypes as its theoretical framework. The essay attempts a definition of the different relations forged by and between the characters of the story. It also tries to understand how Chihiro interacts with her environment. This analysis aims at interpreting Chihiro's experiences through the different stages of the "Heroe's journey".
Estonian animation part 1.

This bachelor thesis is about history of estonian animation. First chapter concerns with the protoanimation of Estonia. Second and third are about foundation of first departments of animation in Tallinnfilm studio, called Nukufilm and Joonisfilm. It describes film production of directors Elbert Tuganov, Arvo Pars, Rein Raamat and Avo Paistik, who made films in era of Soviet Union. Fourth part of thesis describe generation of directors, who works in Nukufilm studio from 80's until now - Rao Heidmets, Kalju Kivi, Hardi Volmer And Riho Unt. Joonisfilm and main directors Mati Kütt, Janno Põldma and Heiki Ernits it is subjekt of fifth chapter. It also concerns of their film production from 80's until now. The last chapter describes Priit Pärn the greathes figure of estonian animation, his life and creation.
Punchline in Aanimated Short

In this work I would like to analyze the point, the punchline, in animation. I try to understand its significance and rules how does it work and when. What advantages and disadvantages it entails. It is the means of making the audience laugh. Therefore I will discuss humour at first. I will mention genres working with punchline. I will compare punchline and gag and in the end I will quote some particular examples of punchline in animated shorts.

Database of the Czech Animated Movie Makers V.

This bachelor degree work contributes to enlarging the Database of Czech's Animated Movies Authores which is from 2002 in process by FAMU, department of animation. It is establishing with college diploma work made by jan Bubeníček and David Súkup in 2004 and Jan Bohuslav in 2007. Origin of this "diploma series" is in fact that there is no other detailed database focused on authores of czech animated movies. I did my work according to stated claims. There are 50 profiles of artists which are in alphabetical order. Every profile containes brief biography, anthology of work, photo portrait of the author and some snaps from movies. Database covers not only portraits of the proffesionals but also many of beginning movie makers, for example students these days. Selection is focused on the most important, basically authore's professions. There are authores of themes, screenplays, animation, music, visual conception, also acting directors, camera operators, sound makers, cutters, productionists and actors who unforgettably contributed as talents of storytelling.
Genre of feature film interpreted by animation

The content of this work is an analysis of the way, how to interpret genre used by feature film into a short animated movie. To that effect it will serve two examples: Stagecoach and Arie prerie (also known as Song of prairie). The way of the analysis stays in both movies in confronting using the place, plot, character and various motives of the reinterpreted genre. Within the Stagecoach and Arie prerie deals with western. The chapters are in order by the importance of establishing the current genre, which is inspired by various studies. For this analysis are also important some terms and influences that gave an impuse to the birth of those two examples.
