The relation between attachment style and coping strategies in children

The diploma thesis concerns the link between coping and attachment. The primary aim is to discover and define how children cope in respect to specific type of attachment. Research sample includes children at the age of 11-12. Research methodologies include qualitive field research. The data were collected by a questionnaire (Experience in Close Relatioship) for purpose to meassure attachment. Research was then accompanied by semi-structured interviews with children, which based on theories of Lazarus and Folkman (1987) and motivational theory (Skinner and Wellborn, 1994). The findings show that in this research children with secure attachment cope differently from children with other types of attachment. The two groups of children vary in their reactions of stress, how they experience stressful encounters, in their appraisal of stresfull encounters and a purpose of social support. Ivana Křížová, Ph.D. Abstract This Master's thesis deals with the nature of attachment regarding individuals with sexual preference disorder. The aim is to examine in depth early and later relationship experiences of selected individuals with sexual preference disorder and to evaluate their potential significance in the context of psychosexual development and sexually delinquent behaviour of these people. The theoretical part first introduces the concept of attachment and outlines the background and the basic concepts of the attachment theory. The following part describes types of attachment and selected methods of assessing adult attachment. The next section provides a summary of key information about sexual preference disorders. Attention is paid to the classification and basic theories of origin of the sexual preference disorders. The psychosexual development of individuals with paraphilia and the specifics of the concept of sexual delinquency are also briefly described. Relations between quality of attachment and eating disorders

This diploma thesis focuses on the relations between attachment quality and eating disorders. The main goal is to map how girls with an eating disorder understand their illness and what the disorder signifies to them within their family system. In the theoretical part of the thesis, eating disorders are delineated. There is an emphasis on risk factors for eating disorders, and a comprehensive approach to their explanation is presented in terms of different theoretical schools. The next part is devoted to the attachment theory with an emphasis on the development from childhood to adulthood. The theoretical foundations of the Parental Bonding Instrument are presented. Furthermore, the attachment theory is linked to the occurrence of eating disorders. In the empirical part of the thesis, the methodological aspect of the research, which was carried out with three girls who have experienced eating disorders, is first introduced. The research design combines the method of semi-structured interviews with the method of using a tool measuring the quality of bonding with parents, specifically the Parental Bonding Instrument. Theses Title: Cognitive construct of attachment by addicted people Autor: Ivana Křížová ABSTRACT This dissertation thesis aims to the theme of attachment as a cognitive construct. The purpose is to explore if is a relation between attachment style and the cognitive constructs that are associated with it by addicted people. The thesis is based on on the theory of personal constructs and personal meaning of events in the life of people. The theoretical part describes theory of attachment, cognitive constructs and addiction. The empirical part describes research design and data analysis. To the research was used a research battery that measured attachment style, early maladaptive schemas and cognitive constructs related to attachment. The research battery consisted of Adult Attachment Projective (AAP), Experiences in Close Relationships (ECR), Young Schemas Questionnaire (YSQ) and non-standardized Cognitive Construct Questionnaire (DKK). The research group consisted of 91 probands, probands with addicted disorder, probands with psychiatric disorder and non-clinical population. Empathy and socio-emotional competencies among various forms of substitute care

This diploma thesis focuses on the level of socio-emotional competencies, the ability of empathy and the prevalence of psychosocial problems amongst children in various forms of substitute care (biological families, institutional care, foster families). The aim of this thesis is to clarify the relations in between the variables and to find possible patterns bound to different kinds of care. The thesis also aims at the effect of the lenght od institutional care and of the strategies of emotional regulation and behaviour in social situations. The sample includes 34 respondents. The data were collected from the children themselves (IDS), from caregivers (EQ-C, SDQ) and from the file documentation (anamnestic questionaire). The results show a significant correlation between the variables. The effect of length of stay in institutional care has not been proven. As for comparisons across different forms of care, differences in empathy rates and the occurrence of psychosocial problems have emerged, but not at the level of socio-emotional skills. The subsequent analysis of strategies of emotional regulation and social behavior has pointed to an interesting tendency regarding the socio-emotional functioning of children in substitute care. Attachment to Parents and Its Influence on Adolescents' Well-Being

The purpose of this thesis is to explore a topic of attachment to parents and its influence on adolescents' subjective well-being. The theoretical part deals with the specifics of the developmental period of middle adolescence. Afterwards, it presents the main ideas of the concepts of attachment and well-being. The great emphasis is also given to gender differences and changes in attachment and subjective well-being across the life span. The practical part focuses on correlation between adolescents' attachment to parents and their well-being by means of a questionnaire survey. It tries to provide a comprehensive overview of the topic and that is why it also deals with the analysis of gender differences and differences between attachment to mothers and attachment to fathers. The research brings interesting results. It confirms the expected positive correlation between girls' well-being and their attachment to both mother and father, however it does not prove either the correlation between boys' well-being and their attachment to mother or correlation between boys' well-being and their attachment to father. Social Issues and Benefits Related to Monoski Riding

This Bachelor's thesis aims to determine whether and how skiing of persons with disabilities influence the quality of their lives. This work defines basic classification of physical defects. It deals with the issue of the psychology of people with disabilities, defines the sport psychology and then moves to the connection between sport and its influence for people with disabilities. An important part is the social aspects and benefits of skiing on the monoski. Highlights the process of socialization working through the sports activities. The theoretical part is also focused on the monoski skiing. Collecting the facts for who is monoski skiing appropriate, informs about the parts of a monoski and the course of teaching. This Bachelor's thesis also specifies other compensatory aids which persons with disabilities use for skiing. In the practical part of this thesis are interviews with users of monoski that informs how the skiing on the monoski affected these respondents. It also contains a comparison with other Bachelor's thesis which has similar topic. This Bachelor's thesis provides information about the contacts which can people use if they are interested in monoski skiing. In the annex are photographs of sit-ski which are mentioned in this work. The theoretical thesis, which aims to find and compare different conceptions and interpretation of the life of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The interest of this thesis is centered on the interpretation of Goethe's relationship with his sister. Interpretation of the relationship of Goethe and his sister is based on two approaches, the psychoanalytic and historical approach. Psychoanalytic approach is represented by Sigmund Freud and Kurt Eissler, who offer interpretations of some aspects of the relationship of Goethe with his sister. Historical approach is represented by Richard Friedenthal and Astrid Seele. They submit biographical context of the poets life and also point to his relationship with his sister. On the basis of these sources are data analyzed within psychoanalytic theory. To explain Goethe's relationship with his sister is thinking about the form of their incestuous sibling relationship or oedipus complex.
