The volunteers in Thomayerova s hospital - how the medical staff perceives them

This diploma paper concerns volunteering in a hospital. In the theoretical part of the paper, we will explain pivotal notions related to volunteering in Czech Republic, we will present historical context of voluntary activity and define today's legal framework. The second chapter is devoted to concrete programme "Volunteers in hospitals". The mentioned programme describes in detail its gradual implementation in Czech hospitals. The empirical part aims at finding out how the medical staff of particular departments of Thomayerova hospital in Prague perceives the volunteers and the volunteer programme. Both qualitative and quantitative methods (focus group, individual interviews, questionnaires) were applied to the research. Combination of both approaches contributed to compact and complex conclusion. Key words: volunteering, volunteers in hospital, volunteer centre, medical staff, hospital.

Antibiotics are nedůležitějším means that the company has in the fight against bacterial infections. The discovery of penicillin by Sir A.Flemingem in 1928 , its isolation Chaine and Floreym in 1940 and subsequent clinical use have meant that until serious or fatal bacterial infectious diseases are today curable . In the following years there have been many more antibiotics or chemotherapeutics , which expands treatment options microbial infections . The high popularity of antibiotics in clinical practice over the course of a few decades taken their toll. Substantial consumption of antimicrobial agents and their misuse has led to the emergence of bacterial resistance with which the discovery of antibiotics planned. Adverse the result is a reduced capacity in the selection of antibiotic therapy in the causal infection. This poses a huge risk to the current population , but especially for the next generation . It may even occur to the fact that the antibiotics used today lost due to bacterial resistance efficiency, and we will not be able to fight against bacteria . One of the branches of medicine where there permanently increased consumption of antibiotics , pediatrics . I would like in this thesis work focused on the possibility of disposal of infectious waste by new technologies. The amount of waste continues to grow and the future will certainly be very important to seek more efficient and environmentally friendly use of these materials will also need to takemore more sensitive to the environment.
Israel and the Czech Republic: Comparative Study of Selected Health Indicators

The aim is to compare the health status and overall level of health care between the Czech Republic and Israel, and to compare both countries to a standard reference group in the form of the EU-15. To this end, we present and compare demographic indices, life expectancy, age standardized death rates (SDR) by categories, infant mortality rates, burden of disease, hospital discharges, lifestyle factors (smoking, alcohol consumption and overweight), hospital beds, health care personnel and utilization, and finally, health expenditure. The data is organized in tables and time trend graphs. Values are compared and time trends are elaborated. When relevant, the data is presented for the two genders separately. The major findings of this work are: demographically, the population structure of the two countries differs; Israel has a younger population with a high fertility rate while the Czech population is older with a low fertility rate. Life expectancy, while improving, is still 4 years lower in the Czech Republic than in Israel. Further, population standardized death rate (SDR) from all causes is more than 45% higher in the Czech Republic.
