Creation of geoinformatical system for mobile devices
Jakl, Michal ; Čábelka, Miroslav (advisor) ; Kříž, Jan (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to design and create a complex community geoinformatical system for mobile devices with Android OS. The first part presents currently available software tools, with an emphasis on user friendliness and minimal financial costs. The following sections deal with design of client-server system, selection and processing of data into databases and creating algorithms, ensuring the entire system. Emphasis is also placed on optimalization for mobile devices, bilingualism and user friendliness. The practical outcome and application of ideas from previous parts of this work is the creation of a mobile application DoPřírody!, which allows outdoor users to search the database of natural areas (parks, forests, cemeteries and others) and also is able to navigate the shortest route to the selected destination in real time. For registered users it is possible to rate, comment and edit existing areas and add new ones. The conclusion contains comparation with large map servers, the results of publishing application on the Google Play website and conclusions of testing in the community of users. Surgical sex conversion
Dohnalová, Lenka ; Šamánková, Marie (advisor) ; Kříž, Jan (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to concentrate to inform the comunity with less known problems of nursing the patients with disorders of sexual identification - with transexuality. The persons with this disorder have genetic and somatic equipment belong to one sex, however their sexual identification is orientated to contrary gender. Surgical conversion of sex of transexuals forms oni y one of the aspects by complex approach to this complicated disorder. The decision when the surgery is indicated is up to sexologist and authorized by the committee. The commision decision is based on detailed and prolonged psychological approach to everyone. The observation is pointed at adaptation for new social status a:fter longtime hormonal treatment and follows a:fter operation and o:fficial conversion ofthe gender as well. Research on effectivity of outreach in physics
Kolář, Karel ; Dolejší, Jiří (advisor) ; Kireš, Marián (referee) ; Kříž, Jan (referee)
The thesis introduces many examples of outreach activities, primarily from the Czech Republic and other European countries. Various possibilities of measure- ments of factors of their effectivity are discussed in the thesis. The used methods were: literature review, conceptual assessment tests - pre- and post-tests (CCI, PPCI), questionnaires (IMI), data analyses of participants of activities, semi-structured interviews (for validation of concept inventories), and the work also has a glimpse of ethnography because the author has organised outreach activities for ten years. The individual chapters of the work are dedicated to: the overview of outreach activities, research methods, translation of the Calculus Concept Inventory (CCI) into Czech, the first steps for developments of the Particle Physics Concept Inven- tory (PPCI), loyalty of participants of competitions, and description of various metrics which can be used for statistical evaluation of events. 1
Experiments supporting the teaching of thermodynamics at high school level
Kácovský, Petr ; Drozd, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Bochníček, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kříž, Jan (referee)
Title: Experiments supporting the teaching of thermodynamics at high school level Author: Petr Kácovský Department: Department of Physics Education Supervisor: doc. RNDr. Zdeněk Drozd, Ph.D., Department of Physics Education Abstract: This doctoral thesis is aimed at chosen aspects of teaching of thermodynamics on high school. The thesis can be divided into two main parts: The research part deals with investigation of typical students' conceptual difficulties in the field of thermal phenomena and its primary goal is to identify the most distinctive misconceptions of observed population. More than 500 students were questioned using a conceptual test both as pretest and posttest; approximately half of them also participated in the retention test which took part two years after pretest. The results of the conceptual test are connected with data obtained on the basis of the simultaneously conducted research of students' attitudes. The developmental part of the thesis - partly inspired by previous misconception research - deals with arranging, documentation and testing of experiments relevant to teaching of thermodynamics. In total, 46 experiments were arranged, students-tested and published in the electronic Collection of Physics Experiments. These experiments are primarily intended for teachers as inspiration...
The role adipose tissue in development of insulin resistance and other metabolic disorders in patients with pheochromocytoma
Klímová, Judita ; Petrák, Ondřej (advisor) ; Kříž, Jan (referee) ; Mlíková Seidlerová, Jitka (referee)
Pheochromocytoma and functional paraganglioma (PPGL) are rare neuroendocrine tumors characterized by catecholamines overproduction, which give a rise to disorders of glucose, lipid, and energy metabolism. The role of adipose tissue in these processes remains unclear. Our aim was to determine the gene expression profile in subcutaneous and visceral adipose tissue of patients with PPGL focusing on endocrine functions of adipose tissue, occurrence of brown (BAT) and beige adipose tissue (BeAT), all in connection with other measured metabolic and energy parameters and levels of circulating adipokines. We demonstrate signs of UCP1-dependent norepinephrine induced thermogenesis connected with overexpression of DIO2 in retroperitoneal VAT of PPGL and higher expression of key transcriptional factors of brown/beige adipogenesis, namely PPARGC1α, CEBPB and PRDM16. However, classic murine BAT or BeAT gene signature in VAT of PPGL was not detected. In subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) of PPGL we found signs of possible BeAT transformation, however without simultaneously undergoing UCP1-dependent thermogenesis. We also demonstrate that patients with PPGL have higher serum levels of FGF21 compared to healthy controls and these levels do not differ from obese patients. Furthermore, successful tumor removal...
The Concept of a Work in Copyright Law
Tuláček, Jan ; Kříž, Jan (advisor) ; Srstka, Jiří (referee) ; Dobřichovský, Tomáš (referee)
132 The Concept of a Work in Copyright Law Abstract The theme of the work is the author's creation , it's concept in the legal definition and further in the meta-legal sense,ie as defined by the authors's work of art,on the one hand by artists ,on the other by artistic institutions . And, the related delimitation of this concept,it's limits or extensions. On the one hand ,the concept of an author's work seems to be expanding in practice,on the other hand, it narrows,as i will explain. This means that I must first take a closer look at the concept of a work in the sense of copyright law.It is a central concept of the entire copyright law, however ,and perhaps because of this, its definition under this law is very vague. After the introduction ,where I tried to think about the definition and practical possibilities of legal science ,in the 1 Chapter I deal with the legal definition of the concept of the work in general and then the concept of the author's work. I think its legal definition, to a certain extent, revolves around a circle, the author 's work is the result of the author's creative activity and the author is the person creating the author's work. It doesn't make much sense.and historically However, this corresponds to the definition according to the authors convention and historically the definition is...
Patent litigation with international element
Košík, Petr ; Kříž, Jan (advisor) ; Čada, Karel (referee) ; Pítra, Vladimír (referee)
With the development of society, we get into situations where it is also necessary to protect what cannot be touched. We begin to get into a situation where we protect what cannot be reached, which is intangible rights. If we look into the past, the first kind of intangible right could be God's blessing as we can learn about it in the Bible. Many years later, the issue of electric current is solved, where the electric current is only taken as an accessory to the main thing, the metal wire, which is the electric conductor. In today's world, however, electricity is a separate thing, but it cannot be touched, touched even though it is all around us and it is a universally transformable source of energy. The same issue arises in the area of protection of rights arising from intellectual activity and implemented also in intangible form. The protection of intangible law and its one particular part - patent (patent protection) is the main interest of this work. Intangible rights are protected by individual states around the world when interactions between owners or violators of individual rights around the world occur very often. The dissertation on Patent Litigation with an International Element deals with that part of the interaction between the proprietors and infringers of patent-protected rights,...
