World War II is considered to be one of the worst war conflicts in the last millennium. The consequences have influenced millions of people all around the world. There were various circumstances which led to the declaration of war. Also the reasons for attacking Poland from the point if view of Germans were various. It was especially the role of argumentation and statements which justified these actions and helped to construct the common opinion and to reach the concensus in the public sphere. This diploma thesis is dealing with the propaganda and argumentation conception in the Nazi newspaper Der Neue Tag which was published in Protectorat Bohemia and Moravia by the end of World War II. This thesis concentrates on the war declaration and its circumstances. The first part is focused on theory of argumentation from the common public point of view, other parts are dealing with the concrete form of the argumentation, with associated language instruments and paradigms.

Valjarevićová, Eva ; Köpplová, Barbara (advisor) ; Trampota, Tomáš (referee)
Before my analysis of cultural column in the newspaper Mlada Fronta Dnes, I asked a few questions and I set a hypothesis. I was curious, how the cultural page in the newspaper was influenced by american culture. In determined years 1992, 1996 and 2000, from four to eleven years after the 1989 velvet revolution in Czechoslovakia, followed by the change of political regime, I analyzed, to what extend are film, literature and fine arts published in the newspaper and also what space the cultural column actually takes. The purpose of this dissertation (Reaction of the Sudetengerman press to the Munich Agreement in October 1938) was to analyse the reaction of the Sudetengerman press to the Munich Agreement and events in the Sudetengerman region which immediately came after the signing of the Munich Agreement. The criteria of the research and the sample of the newspapers were set on the basis of specialized historical publications and the archival origins (Chapters I, II). The hypothesis presupposed that the Sudetengerman newspapers agreed to the new situation in the Sudetengerman region and the Nazi regime. The analysis was divided in two parts: historical analysis and content analysis. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Roubalová, Ivana ; Köpplová, Barbara (advisor) ; Cebe, Jan (referee)
After serving few hundred years under the reign of Habsburc monarchy the Czech nation was trying to establish itself like a more independent part of the monarchy or like a new and independent state outside from the Habsburc monarchy. Activities of this movement were called National renaissance and it culminated during the First World War at that time led by Mr. Tomas Garrigue Masaryk, who was supporter of independent Czech state formed as democratic republic. The end of the First World War was a big victory for efforts to establish the new Czech state with cooperation with the similar efforts of Slovaks. To support this efforts there was created a new nation of Czechoslovaks and all the claims for territory and new state for this nation were done together with Slovaks. A new map for eastern Europe was laid out in the Paris conference in 1919 and seven new states were established in that conference as independent and democratic, one of them was Czechoslovak republic, usually known under the name Czechoslovakia. Author of this dissertation used the method of historical analysis to describe the importance of the Press Department for establishing democratic Czechoslovakia. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
