Possibilities of teaching geology at grammar schools

This thesis maps the current state of the teaching of geology at grammar schools. The introductory part of the thesis contains history and present in the teaching of geology in the Czech republic. The next part is dedicated to own research and analysis of acquired data. Necessary information were obtained per structured interviews with twenty-four professors from selected Prague grammar schools. All the professors agreed that the geology is definitely belong to The General Educational Program For Grammar Schools. Grammar schools organizing teaching of geology in different ways. The most favorite is mineralogy and petrology. Schools are well equipped for teaching geology, but they do not always use contraption. Students do not use textbook of geology. The most popular geological issues at professors and students are Plate tectonics and Volcanic activity. Most teachers would be interesting in showing practical exercises and geologically interesting locations. According to the obtained data was compiled a draft of teaching of geology at four- year grammar schools and at higher level of perennial grammar schools.
