The foreign policy of Venezuela after the onset of Hugo Chávez

The aim of this work is to characterize the differences of the foreign policy of Venezuela before and after the onset of Hugo Chavez. Methods applied for achievement of this aim were analysis and subsequent comparison. The main topics concern the political developments in Venezuela until 1998 and foreign policy conducted in this period, in the next chapter the political basis of Chávez's foreign policy are analyzed and in conclusion the itself Venezuela's foreign policy after 1998 is described. The analysis in this study showed that the emergence of Hugo Chavez caused a considerable turnover in the foreign policy of Venezuela, which has been reflected in many changes, especially in the US-Venezuelan relations, integration efforts in the Latin American region and the overall differences in ideological orientation of the country.
Left shift in present Latin America

There is a term, the left shift, as a result of election year 2006 in Latin America. Furthermore, Media supported shortly this theory by publishing several articles about restrictions of democracy in some of the countries with new government. The aim of this thesis is to chart the current situation in most of the countries and then to analyze the contemporary political situation in entire Latin America with close-up look at possible restrictions of democracy and civil rights and freedoms. The key question preserves, if this is a whole region tendency or just a matter of few countries.
Mexican drug war and possibilities of its solution

The drug war in Mexico is a theme of this bachelor's work; this war has fully escalated after Felipe Calderón took president office in 2006. The very object of this work is to suggest and judge possible schemes of conflict solving. The work summarizes brief history related to origin and following development of narcomafia in Mexico. Further, it characterizes most influential drug organizations in the country and their influence on Mexican inhabitants is stated too. The most frequent crimes, which have been committed by drug gangs in recent years, are mentioned as well. The summary of measures adopted in a fight against mafia by federal government and president follows. The United States support is not forgotten either. In conclusion, probable variants of conflict solving are expressed on the basis of analyzed information.
Samuel Huntington's Conception and its Critics

This Master's Thesis deals with the famous work of a Clash of Civilizations by Samuel Huntington. The topic is described to full extent. First of all, there are defined basic terms connected with culture. Afterwards, the conception of a Clash of Civilizations is described in its basic concepts, whereas there are not omitted consequences connected with the author's other works as well as his life. A special chapter is dedicated to the impact that this work caused. This chapter is devided into two parts. In the first part, there are presented general references of several authors. In the other part, there are discussed comprehensive conceptions of certain authors. Concretely, they are represented by Francis Fukuyama, Immanuel Wallerstein, Alvin Toffler and Michael Novak. After description of basic ideas of these big thinkers, there is made a comparison of their conceptions, which is based on the following terms -- universalism, democracy a capitalism, world order and modernization. In the last part of this Master's Thesis, there are deduced conclusions from the comparison of these conceptions that deal with the international system, which makes this issue more clear for both public and academic people.
Cuban emigration to the United States of America since 1959

The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the development of Cuban emigration to the USA since 1959, when Fidel Castro assumed power in Cuba. The presumption for achievement the main aim was to achieve the partial goals including the analysis of causes of Cuban emigration, highlighting the connection between the historical development of Cuba and the emigration from the island to the United States, furthermore, the characteristic of Cuban minority living in the U.S. and possible future development of Cuban emigration. The thesis is divided into six chapters including the general definition of migration and its forms, brief history of international migration, it also focuses on the U.S. - the largest immigration country in the world. The thesis doesn't lack the main immigration flows and social economic characteristics of the US immigrants. Particular waves of Cuban immigration to the USA since 1959 are described in chapter four, which frames pivotal part of the thesis. Attention is also paid to the Cuban community living in the United States and the future development of Cuban migration.
Conflict in Colombia and its impacts on the neighbour countries

This work is dedicated to Colombia's conflict. Its objective is to sum up its implications on neighbour states. Venezuela, Ecuador, Brazil, Peru and Panama have to cope with the invasions of Colombia's guerrillas and paramilitary groups, waves of refugees who look for asylum in other countries in order to run away from acts of violence of their homeland or with increasing trend in cultivation of illicit crops. The United States of American intervenes significantly in the situation by trying with Plan Colombia to lower the quantity of cocaine coming from this region to American's markets. Brief conflict's development and characteristics of its actors, analysis of the relations among countries within the conflict and 3 possible scenarios of future development are used to achieve the main objective of the work.
The Development of the Colombian Conflict after President Uribe Took his Office

This work deals with the colombian president Álvaro Uribe who took his office 2002. The main objective is to assess the proceedings of Uribe and to outline some other steps that could be made. The work summarizes the reasons of the conflict deduced from history on the basis of historic-logical method, describes and compares the actors of the conflict, above all the leftist guerillas FARC and ELN and the rightist organisation AUC. Also deals with the influence of the cocaine. The fundamental part is the describtion of the proceedings made by Uribe in his electoral term and the description of the cooperation with the USA which attepts to solve this problem. All aroud Uribe succeded in allaying the conflict and also the situation with some actors was almou solved. Nonetheless the step sof Uribe lack the complexity.
The development and present activities of Peruvian Shining path

The objective of this thesis is to provide the reader with an overview of the past and present of the Shining path and its influence on the development of Peru. The ideology of the Shining path is treated and the most important moments in its history are identified. Its recent past and present is emphasized. The last chapter deals with the Peruvian governments' attitudes to the Shining path insurgency.
Cultural differences in Czech-Turkish business co-operation and their influence

In the first part of my thesis there are some facts about recent economic situation in Turkey. The second part illustrates Turkish attitude to Islam, actual problems in this country and Turkey compared to the Czech Republic according to Geert Hofstede indices. The third part is about cultural aspects in Turkey -- hierarchy, honour, solidarity, relations, relativism in rule and time perception, indirect communication and trade negotiations. Last part of my thesis focuses on business co-operation between Turkey and the Czech Republic.
A Comparison of the Position of Muslims in France and in Holland

The bachelor thesis with the title "A Comparison of the Position of Muslims in France and in Holland" is concerned with the situation in which the confessors of Islam find themselves. First, the work assesses the immigration policies represented by France and Holland within the EU. Next, opinions on immigration policy claimed by the parties present in the French and Dutch parliament are evaluated. Third aspect is formed by the media, particularly the biggest newspapers. Activities of Muslim organizations in these two countries are also taken into consideration. Finally, a kind of synthesis is created which judges how these approaches influence the situation of Muslims in France and in Holland. The main goal of this bachelor thesis is not only to find the main differences between the positions of Muslims in France and in Holland but also to come up with characteristics common for Muslims in the analyzed countries.
