Materials for description of Inari Sami
Kalábová, Hana ; Křivan, Jan (advisor) ; Januška, Jiří (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on Inari Sami, an endangered and lesser-described language spoken by approximately 300 people in Northern Finland. All speakers are bilingual in Finnish. The aim of the thesis is to gather all the available information about the language and based on them provide the materials for elicitation, which are used as the basis for fieldwork and writing the grammar of the Inari Sami language in the future. In purpose of summarizing the so far known grammar of the language linguistic papers, paradigms, vocabularies and corpus are used. The summary of grammar is organized in a logical way in the same pattern as modern descriptive grammars are. The thesis contains several tables and examples with interlinear glosses, that show grammar rules of the language. The thesis also concerns about undescribed categories, which are the goal of the fieldwork in the future. The fieldwork should use the method of reverse translation elicitation, while the contact language is Finnish. This work also contains brief summary of pros and cons of the method of elicitation and in the end illustrates the process of creating the elicitation questionnaire. Each question from the questionnaire is briefly introduced and provided with an interlinear gloss and the explanation of its importance in the...
Grammatical gender - a Czech-Hungarian experimental comparison
Červenková, Michaela ; Januška, Jiří (advisor) ; Křivan, Jan (referee)
This work, Grammatical gender - a Czech-Hungarian experimental comparison deals with the existence of the grammatical gender in language and its influence on the conceptualization of the inanimate objects of its speakers. Its goal is, through carrying out an experiment on Czech language (that means on a language with grammatical gender) and on Hungarian language (that means on a language without grammatical gender) to verify the assumption, that the Czech native speakers would focus on the grammatical gender while responding, unlike the Hungarian native speakers, whose language does not have grammatical gender. For this purpose, two methods are used. In one of them the respondents have to assign a voice to given inanimate objects (either male or female) or as the case may be, they have to assign a first name. The data was collected through an online questionary. The results of the research verified the previous assumption, that means the influence of grammatical gender on the responses of the Czech native speakers. Except for that, the results also brought findings about Hungarian native speakers' responses, who often focused on the first letter of the name of the given object while responding. This work also contains summary of literature about up to date experimental research of grammatical...
Comparing Central European languages: beyond structual features and loanwords
Třetí kapitola sumarizuje výzkum středoevropských jazyků: různé koncepce středoevropského (popř. dunajského) jazykového svazu vzájemné vlivy lexika a frazeologie těchto jazyků a popisy situací jazykového kontaktu v areálu.
"Langue" and "norm": contribution to analysis of relationship of two linguistic notions
Januška, Jiří ; Elšík, Viktor (referee) ; Starý, Zdeněk (advisor)
The aim of this text is to contribute to the clarification of the relationship of two linguistic notions: langue and norm. Ignoring the notion of norm as it is treated in the theory of the standard language, the goal of this text is to better understand what it means when linguists relate the general notion of norm to langue. A review of conceptions of the langue-norm relationship developed by some of 20th century linguists serves as a basis for this analysis, in particular conceptions by F. de Saussure, some linguists of Prague School of Linguistics, L. Hjelmslev, T. Milewski, E. Coseriu, and E. Itkonen. This historical review is followed by a "typology" of these conceptions, and notes on some general aspects of langue-norm relationship.
The implemetation of identification algorithms in digital signal processor DSP56F8xxx
Januška, Jiří ; Václavek, Pavel (referee) ; Blaha, Petr (advisor)
This diploma thesis intends to describe some of identification methods applicable to the induction motor resulting in the profit of some of these parameters by means of mathematical analysis. Afterwards these methods are simulated in MATLAB/Simulink and in the final part algorithms of these methods are consequently implemented to the digital signal processor.
