Perception of safety and danger in Jičín from the perspective of secondary school students
Žalud, Martin ; Jíchová, Jana (advisor) ; Komárek, Marek (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the perception of safety and danger from the perspective of secondary school students. The goal of the study is to find out how safe students feel in their place of residence, in Jičín and in Czechia. It also focuses on the localization of safely and dangerously perceived places and finding out the reasons for the feeling of danger in these localities. The main method of data collection was a survey among secondary school students in Jičín and an interview with a local police officer and a crime prevention manager in Jičín. Considerable conformity was found between places that respondents do not perceive safely and locations identified by the local police officer as places of frequent police intervention. Reasons for the negative perception of places from the student perspective were shown in the survey. These reasons are mainly related to the social environment. Keywords: feeling of safety, feeling of danger, perception of danger, youth, Jičín
Spatial statistics of point data: possibilities on example of crime research
Havej, Petr ; Netrdová, Pavlína (advisor) ; Jíchová, Jana (referee)
Localized point data are literally everywhere in the world around us. Whether it is about the location of different objects or a place where an incident happened, such as crime, or a place where a more rare disease occurred. One of the researcher's important goals is to analyze their spatial distribution. There is a number of methods to achieve such a goal, which have begun to develop in particular along the development of the field of computing and information technology. The aim of this work is to find out what are the current methods of approach to spatial analysis of point data. To test and apply the spatial analysis methods studied on actual data for crime and evaluate their benefits and results. Problems that may arise in applying methods and actual research using such methods will be discussed. Keywords: spatial analysis, point data, crime research
Residential mobility and fulfilling the ideas of cohousing in the everyday life of inhabitants: Case study of the Klidná project
Horňáková, Marie ; Jíchová, Jana (advisor) ; Kubeš, Jan (referee)
The thesis deals with cohousing; a concept of living based on common spaces and shared facilities. In the first phase, the aim is to provide a summary of the development of cohousing and other similar forms of housing in the world and also in Czechia. The second phase focuses on a concrete by cohousing inspired residential project located in the inner city of Prague. In the work it appears under the name Klidná. The second phase aims to find out what led the communication partners to choose Klidná as a new place of residence, how important role did the specific aspects based on cohousing played in the decision-making process and finally how are the ideas of this concept being fulfilled in everyday life of the inhabitants. The research is of a qualitative nature and the main method of data collection is realization of deep semi-structured interviews, which are subsequently evaluated on the basis of theoretical thematic analysis. Based on the study, none of the communication partners chose Klidná because of the concept of cohousing. They perceived the existence of common areas, small scale of the project or its spatial layout rather as a pleasant bonus. Fulfilling ideas of the concept in everyday life of the informants corresponds with the nature of the project and the context in which it was...

Feeling of Safety and Fear of Crime in the Czech Republic
Krulichová, Eva ; Buriánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Havlík, Radomír (referee) ; Jíchová, Jana (referee)
The research on feeling of safety and fear of crime abroad has been developed since 70s of the 20th century. In the Czech Republic it became of interest at the beginning of 90s after the fall of the communist regime, while the discrepancy between actually committed and formally registered offences resulting in the sharp increase of officially recorded crime manifested itself. In response to this increase there were written first scientific studies, which mainly dealt with the development of feeling of safety and models explaining such feeling in the context of former social problems (economic stress, trust in the government). In our opinion, however, we lack a comprehensive study that discusses the feeling of safety and fear of crime phenomenon from different aspects and intend to verify the validity of the results of international studies in our milieu. Based on the existing theoretical approaches and selected data sources, the study therefore aims to illuminate the structure of the relationship between fear of crime and individual or social factors that correlate with it. The study particularly deals with the relationship between perceived risk of victimization and fear of crime, i.e. concepts that were often used interchangeably at the beginning of research in this area. The analysis has showed...
Hot spot analysis of car thefts in Liberec
Kostka, Jiří ; Jíchová, Jana (advisor) ; Netrdová, Pavlína (referee)
My diploma thesis deals with distribution analysis of car thefts in the town of Liberec and will look at the options of situational crime prevention techniques. In my diploma thesis I have used the concept of hot spots which is able to show higher than average concentrations of car thefts in the study area. The database is relatively unique, provided by the regional police department in Liberec and contains the records of more than a thousand reported car thefts in Liberec between the years 2011-2014. The provided data contains GPS coordinates and thanks to them, it was possible, with relatively high accuracy, to identify hot spots of car thefts in Liberec. The identification of hot spots was possible as spatial statistics were used that enabled concrete calculations of kernel density, which made it possible to identify problem locations. In our chosen hot spots we then undertook our fieldwork, whose main goal was to evaluate the options of utilization strategy CPTED, so as to obtain preventive measures in problem locations. The output of this thesis include hot spot maps of car thefts 2011-2014 and also recommendations for preventive measures, which would be advisable to implement in chosen hot spots. Key words: car thefts, crime mapping, CPTED, hot spot, crime prevention, GIS
Territoral differentation of housing prices and housing affordability in the Czech republic
Kremlová, Štěpánka ; Baxa, Jan (advisor) ; Jíchová, Jana (referee)
This Bachelor thesis focuses on the housing market and regional differentiation of prices of flats and houses at the level of districts of the Czech Republic. Since the nineties we can observe the growth of regional disparities of housing prices. It has a direct influence on the creation and increase of regional disparities in housing affordability. The Bachelor thesis describes some of the methods of measuring the affordability of housing in the Czech Republic. The main objective is to determine whether housing prices reflect the labor market. By using correlation analysis we are able to demonstrate a statistically significant effect of selected labor market indicators (level of monthly gross wages and the share of unemployed persons) on purchase housing prices. Keywords: housing prices, housing market, housing affordability, labor market, correlation analysis, regression analysis
