Adaptability of temperate forest soils to fire
Švábová, Bára ; Jílková, Veronika (advisor) ; Devetter, Miloslav (referee)
This research paper examines the adaptability of temperate forest soils to wildfire, as the frequency and intensity of wildfire in temperate forests is expected to increase with climate change. In addition, climate change is expected to shift the forest boundary northwards, so temperate forests are likely to be gradually replaced by Mediterranean forests, where fire frequency is currently high. How much a fire disturbs soil properties depends on the intensity, severity, frequency and climatic conditions following the fire. Fire in temperate forests primarily negatively affects the organic matter content, which further influences physico-chemical and biological properties. Thus, the most important factor in restoring the soil properties of temperate forests is the restoration of organic matter, which is linked to revegetation. After comparison with studies from boreal and Mediterranean forests, it was found that the recovery time of temperate forest soils is similar to that of boreal forest soils. Soil properties such as increased pyrogenic carbon content, rapid recovery or increased numbers of fungi and bacteria and increased aggregate stability may help in soil recovery after fire. This work is important in the context of climate change and could help in developing strategies that promote soil...

This Master's thesis entitled "The Influence of Web Analytics on Journalism" examines the impact of web analytics on journalistic routines in the Czech Republic. The theoretical frame focuses on history of origin and development of czech online news media as well as the change of journalistic work in the environment of online media. An inseparable part of the theoretical section is also an introduction to the topic of editorial analytics. The theory of gatekeeping frames our research and helps us define specific research questions. Qualitative research was conducted using semi-structured in-depth interviews with ten journalists to answer the research questions. Results showed who is in charge of editorial analytics in newsrooms and how often are analytical tools used. Then the purpose of usage of editorial analytics was found and described in the interpretative part. In conclusion the results provided us with detailed information about the specific impact of analytics on journalistic routines including appearance of home pages, headlines and photos, selection of topics, links to other articles etc. The key findigs of this research were enriched by conclusions of similar foreign studies.
Activation techniques of working with dementia diseases persons
JÍLKOVÁ, Veronika
The bachelor thesis deals with the use of activation techniques in working with people with dementia. The first part is devoted to the topic of dementia, its definition, types of dementia and individual stages of Alzheimer's disease. Another part describes the basic needs of a person and the needs of a sick person. The last and main part deals with the activation techniques in the social work with people with dementia and answers the question how the action of activation techniques meet the needs of the human being. Activation techniques are divided into three groups, depending on for which human abilities are most effective. These are the mental, physical and sensory capacities of human. The group of techniques for activating mental capabilities include cognitive rehabilitation, reminiscence therapy, and biography.Physical activation techniques include animotherapy, expression therapy, ergotherapy and kinesiotherapy. The group of techniques for activating sensory capabilities include, for example, aromatherapy and basal stimulation. The aim of this work is to show the importance of individual techniques in work as an essential supplement to the pharmacological treatment of clients with dementia and also to examine whether activation techniques can satisfy all human needs.
Wood ants of genus Formica as important ecosystem engeneers
Jílková, Veronika ; Frouz, Jan (advisor) ; Tajovský, Karel (referee) ; Bonkowski, Michael (referee)
This thesis consists of one chapter accepted for publication in a book and four papers published in international journals with impact factors. All of the contributions deal with the role of wood ants in energy and nutrient fluxes in forest ecosystems. Wood ant nests are known as hot spots of carbon dioxide (CO2) production and are also thought to affect methane (CH4) flux. Stable high temperatures are maintained in ant nests even in cold environments. This study is focused on quantification of CO2 and CH4 flux in wood ant nests, contribution of ants and microbes to CO2 production, properties of nest material that affect CO2 production and the role of ants and microbes in the maintenance of nest temperature. The research was conducted in temperate and boreal forests inhabited by wood ants (Formica s. str.). Gas fluxes were measured either by an infrared gas analyser or a static chamber technique. Ants and nest materials were also incubated in a laboratory. Material properties potentially influencing CO2 flux, such as moisture, nutrient content or temperature were determined. According to the results, CH4 oxidation was lower in wood ant nests than in the surrounding forest soil suggesting that some characteristics of ant nests hinder CH4 oxidation or promote CH4 production. Wood ant nests clearly are hot...

Peculiarities of nursing care of clients of the Jewish denomination
JÍLKOVÁ, Veronika
Judaism, that is dealt with in a lot of publications, is a religion scattered all over the world. In the history of all countries you can find mention of a Jewish locality, ghetto, some famous Jew, or a court case with Jews. Jews were persecuted for centuries, and nearly everybody remembers World War II and the Holocaust. Globalization brings migration and multicultural society. To provide clients with efficient nursing care, it is necessary to ensure good professional readiness of nurses for transcultural nursing. The dissertation deals with the peculiarities of nursing care of clients of the Jewish denomination. For the research part techniques of quality research were used {--} semi-standardized survey interview and content data analyse. The research set consisted of 11 clients from Domov sociální péče Hagibor in Prague (care home), and there were 37 files of medical documentation at our disposal. At the very beginning of the research we set 3 aims. Do hospitalized clients of the Jewish denomination require specific nursing care? Are there differences in providing specific nursing care for clients of the Jewish orthodox or conservative type? Are there differences in the care for clients of the Jewish denomination between the terminal stage hospital and the facility for clients of the Jewish denomination? Based on the aims we set the research questions. We fulfilled the aims, and the research questions were answered during the research. Based on the done research we set these hypotheses: Hypothesis 1. When providing nursing care, it is important to know the type of Judaism a client professes. Hypothesis 2: Jews prefer vegetarian meals in medical facilities. Hypothesis 3: Practising Jews refuse hospitalization in a hospital during important feasts unless their life is in danger. Hypothesis 4: There are differences in providig nursing care for Orthodox Jew clients comparing with care for clients of conservative type. Hypothesis 5: There are differences between the care for clients of Jewish denominations in the terminal stage hospital and in a facility for clients of Jewish denomination. The dissertation brings surprising and interesting research results, which were processed into the model of culture friendly-adjusted care of Joyce Newman Giger and Ruth Davidhizar, and a standard nursing care process for a client of Jewish denomination was developed.

Cooperation between nurse and client´s relations hospitalizationed in house department
JÍLKOVÁ, Veronika
Medical workers, patients and family members are three groups, which often meet in demanding and critical situations, which they tend to experience in different ways. That is why the inforamtion leak may occur and also the basic conditions are not met (and this applies not only to clients, but also to specialists). Nurses should be opened to communication with family members and regularly offer them the exchange of informations. If the family comes with new ideas, we should be able to find a way to transform them into our profession. We should be able to counsel the family on where to get help or additional informations, or coordinate them. The cooperation between medical workers and family members creates the sanctuary of peace, where the patient and his family feel much better then they used to in the times, when profesionals used to be too much authoritative The subject of my bachelors work is the cooperation between nurses, family members and clients hospitalizated on the ward of internal medicine. The aim is to find out, how nurses percieve the family members of the clients hospitalized on the ward of internal medicine.find out which problems represent the greatest struggle for nurses, who have to deal with family memebers of hospitalized client. find out, whether the family members are satisfied with nursing staff on the ward of internal medicine. The vital informations were collected using the method of answering sheets, which were filled in by the nurses working on the ward of internal medicine and by the relatives of hospitalized clients on the ward of internal medicine of the České Budějovice Hospital. Hypothesis No. 1: `` The Hypothesis that the nurses in the internal department perceive the presence of the hospitalized patients{\crq} family members positively{\crqq} was confirmed. Hypothesis No. 2: `` The Hypothesis that the nurses are lacking the understanding of given information in the communication with the hospitalized patients{\crq} family members{\crqq} was not confirmed. Hypothesis No. 3: `` The Hypothesis that the hospitalized patients{\crq} family members are satisfied with cooperation with the attending personnel in the internal department{\crqq} was confirmed. I hope, that the findings made by me, will help widen the space for cooperation between nurses and family members of our patients, help realize better exchange of informations between families and nurses, which will lead to better treatment for our patiens.
