The Introduction to Financing of Culture by the European Union, Programme Culture 2000 Focusing on Czech Projects

The aim of this thesis is to make an instroduction to the structure of the European Union, to focus on European financial programmes in the field of culture, in particular Culture 2000 and Culture 2006, and to map the funding of Czech projects by these programmes in the past few years.

The following text attempts to describe, in basic outlines, the phenomenon of the Italian opera and music business in the 18th century London, while focusing on its economical and organisational aspescts, which differed substantially from the Continetal practices. Georg Friedrich Haendel's personality embodies both, his experience of the Italian musical life as well as his role in creating suitable conditions fot the Italian opera in the capital city of the British Isles.
