Ivan Kurz as a contributing composer and academic music educator

The author of this thesis endeavours to elaborate a comprehensive portrait of Ivan Kurz, a contemporary composer and academic educator. The thesis is primarily focused on his composition works and his pedagogical contribution with the aim to establish a practical source of information helping musicologists and teachers in the analysis of Czech contemporary music. In addition, it emphasises the remarkable role of Ivan Kurz in the Czech contemporary music scene. In the introductory part of the main body, the work is concerned with the biography of Ivan Kurz and then the work's attention subsequently moves to his composition works. His works, which aesthetically go along with the postmodern ideal of musical expressive elements synthesis, are primarily of spiritually and philosophically themed music. The scope of his compositions is relatively wide. It includes, for example, symphonies, orchestral works, choir works, cantatas, oratorios, chamber music, sonatas, melodrama, etc. These individual composition works and their concert performances are briefly described. If available, sheet music or audio materials and recordings are mentioned as well. Use of recorder for speech development of preschool children

The following master thesis covers the use of the recorder and music activities as part of logopaedic prevention by preschool-age children. The theoretical part describes the general knowledge about speech, malfunctions of communicational skills emphasizing developmental dysphasia and dyslalia. The major part deals with music therapy and recorder and describes them as tools of logopaedic prevention. The practical part analyses data gained from the own action research and includes an in-depth case history of a boy suffering from developmental dysphasia. This part focuses mainly on analysing the impact of diverse musical activities with children within preschool music classes. The analysis also covers children's good practice of breathing habits as well as their melodic and rhythmic perception.
Fairy Tale Themed Ballet Music in the 19th and 20th Century Focused on the Works of P. I. Tchaikovsky and S. Prokofiev

The title of the diploma thesis: Fairy Tale Themed Ballet Music in the 19th and 20th Century Focused on the Works of P. I. Tchaikovsky and S. Prokofiev This diploma thesis deals with fairy tale motifs in ballet music of the 19th and 20th century. It focuses mainly on fairy tale ballets of Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Sergei Prokofiev. The first chapter deals with fairy tale themes in ballet on a more general level and advances to the concrete inclusion of these themes in the socio- historical context of the 19th and 20th century. The second chapter briefly deals with the development of ballet from its beginnings in the 15th century to the 18th century. This chapter chronologically describes important periods and events concerning ballet. The next chapter deals with ballet of the Romantic period and music of the 19th century in France and Denmark. Chapter four and five present the prominent ballets of Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, namely Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker. Furthermore, this thesis focuses on ballet of the 20th century, those of Igor Stravinsky and mainly Sergei Prokofiev. Most of these ballets were created in cooperation with the patron of arts Sergei Diaghilev. The last part offers various activities that can be used in music lessons. Application of Orff Schulwerk Principles in Music Education at the General František Fajtl DFC Primary School in Letňany

The diploma thesis examines Orff Schulwerk as a system of thoughts applicable to music education and its use at General František Fajtl DFC Primary School in Prague 9. It briefly introduces Carl Orff as a pedagogue in the first part. It further describes the formation of Orff Schulwerk in Germany, its basic thoughts, its adaptation in Czechoslovakia and the birth of the Czech Orff's School. This thesis focuses in detail on a school, where music education is taught according to principles of Orff Schulwerk - General František Fajtl DFC Primary School in Letňany. Several chapters are also devoted to the founder of this concept Lenka Pospíšilová and her other projects. The last part of the thesis deals with the teaching of music education in classes with musical specialisation in the first and second grade of this primary school. Based on the research, it compares the teaching process of the two first-year classes with and without musical specialisation in the school year 2016-2017.
Music and dance in kindrgarten. Design and implementation of author's music-dance project

The goal of this thesis is to theoretically evaluate and practically prove that children in kindergarten are capable to listen to classical music carefully and to express it with motion, if they are properly guided and motivated. This thesis also provides the theme for kindergarten teachers how to work with classical music to teach children to perceive it as a gift and develop love for music in children. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part is theoretical and it summarizes the most important findings concerning music and movement. The second part is practical and it consists of a project closely related to the research. Results of the research clarified the fact to what extent parents perceive the importance of music, movement and dance and how they endorse these aspects. The main objective of this thesis was fulfilled by the implementation of the project "It was said once in nature."
Interpretively technical issues of playing the recorder focused on Baroque music

This work is focused on the issues related to baroque interpretation on recorder concerning classwork on primary art schools. Main recorder history, available classbooks about technique and interpretation of baroque music is presented as well as a list of conservatories and universities in the Czech republic and universities in the surrounding coutries, where the recorder can be studied as a main subject. Furthermore, breath, articulation and finger technique are discussed. Separate chapter is dedicated to the composition ornamentation. Practical classwork is demonstrated on concrete scores targeted on pupils of different primary art school grades. Breath technique, articulation and finger technique is discussed for each composition. Furthermore, ornamentation possibilities are presented for each piece.
