The risk of learning disability in preschool children with communication disorders

This bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of the risk of specific learning disabilities based on the partial function deficits in preschool children with communication disorders. The bachelor thesis consists of two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part describes the terminology closely related to communication disorders. In addition, the thesis defines and clarifies the terminology of specific learning disabilities, their subdivisions as sell as describes the deficits of the partial function deficits, which are related to them. In the practical part, the course of the research investigation is described, and the analysis of the results is also carried out. The qualitative research was conducted in a preschool institute, and with the consent of the legal guardians of the participating children, individual anamneses of each children were taken. Subsequently, the diagnostic method of B. Sindelar, its evaluation and comparison with other individuals was carried out. The thesis also attempts to compare with the results published in the available literature on a similar topic. Auditory perception training as part of speech therapy prevention in common preschool

The main objective of the bachelor's thesis is to identify and describe the development of auditory perception in a selected ordinary kindergarten. The specific goals of the thesis were to determine and describe the advantages and disadvantages of auditory perception development in the given kindergarten and to present the most common aids and activities used to foster auditory perception. The theoretical part of the thesis consists of three chapters, providing a foundation for the practical part of the work. The first chapter focuses on the development of speech and language abilities in typically developing children and introduces basic concepts of speech, language, and communication. The second chapter delves into the issues of auditory perception and its individual components. The third chapter introduces the education of preschool-aged children, the framework educational program, and its domains. Title: The Role of an Occupational Therapist in Supporting Functional Communication for People with Expressive Aphasia Abstract: The bachelor thesis is theoretical and practical. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to find out what are the possibilities of supporting functional communication in patients with expressive phatic disorder by an occupational therapist as part of complex rehabilitation. The aim of the thesis is to find compensatory strategies and aids suitable for the development and improvement of self-sufficiency and communication functionality of patients with expressive aphasia, which will benefit both the patient, the client, and the entire interdisciplinary team. In the theoretical part of the thesis, aphasia is defined, its etiology and symptomatology are described. Furthermore, the classification of impaired communication skills according to the Boston Classification is presented. Speech therapy care in homes for the elderly from the perspective of employees of these facilities

This bachellor thesis is focused on logopaedic intervention and its benefits in retirement homes. It is subdivided into a theoretical and an empiric part. The theoretical part is mainly dedicated to defining the terms of ' age' and 'ageing', characterisation of the most common communication disorders among elderly people and their diagnostics, etiology, therapy and symptoms. The system of care of elderly people in the Czech Republic is also depicted in the theoretical part, introducing all kinds of services provided to seniors, mainly in retirement homes. Further, logopaedic intervention and its possible application is described. The following empiric part of the thesis inspected logopedic intervention in a particular retirement home including the assessment of logopedic care contribution by the retirement home's employees. Employees were specifically chosen to assess their clients' progress as they are in a day-to-day contact with them and can therefore observe any improvements brought on by this kind of care. At the same time, they shall be more unbiased as opposed to the logopedician providing the logopedic care or the elderly people themselves. Speech therapy in adults with acquired apraxia of speech

1 ABSTRACT The diploma thesis deals with the issue of speech therapy intervention for adults with acquired verbal dyspraxia. The main goal of this special pedagogical research is to find out what procedures clinical speech therapists in the Czech Republic use as part of speech therapy intervention for patients with verbal dyspraxia. In accordance with the primary goal of the work, sub-goals are set, which determine what diagnostic materials clinical speech therapists use to diagnose acquired verbal dyspraxia in adult patients who have developed a neurogenic communication disorder due to a stroke, trauma or neurogenic disease and what therapeutic methods clinical speech therapists use in the therapy of persons with this diagnosis. Another sub-goal compares how clinical speech therapists are aware of the symptoms of verbal dyspraxia and whether they can easily recognise it based on this knowledge. The work presents data on neurogenic communication disorders, of which dysarthria, aphasia and oral apraxia were described in more detail. Phoniatric and speech therapy intervention for people with voice disorders

The thesis was written in the Speech therapy field of study. Thesis deals with the topic of voice disorders and the mutual cooperation between speech therapists and phoniatrists in this area. The starting point of the theoretical part of the thesis is the definition of the fields of speech therapy and phoniatry. Then the theoretical part deals with voice disorders and the definition of voice. The last chapter of the theoretical part is devoted to the area of diagnosis, therapy and prevention of voice disorders. The goal of the practical part of the thesis was to find out, with the use of the information and knowledge from the theoretical part, how the cooperation between speech therapists and phoniatrists works, to analyse the procedures used for diagnosis and treatment of people with voice disorders and to reveal what other possibilities of cooperation between speech therapists and phoniatrists could be exploited. The bachelor thesis is focused on the provision of speech therapy intervention in children's homes in the Královéhradecký region.The bachelor thesis is divided into three chapters, two theoretical and one empirical chapter. In the first chapter of the theoretical part, basic concepts such as speech therapy, communication, speech, language and impaired communication ability are explained. Next, the first chapter is devoted to the development of speech, language and communication within the planes and lastly, it describes children's homes and their functioning, the role of the educator and the child and the communication skills of children from children's homes. The second chapter of the theoretical part is devoted to speech therapy intervention, the definition of the term and its activities, its position within the health and education departments. The Vocabulary in Children at 2 to 3 Years

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of active and passive vocabulary in children aged 2-3 years. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on defining speech development in children, describing in detail the development and evaluation of vocabulary in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and abroad. Additionally, selected categories of impaired communication ability specific to this age group are described, more specifically, developmental dysphasia and delayed speech development. The main goal of the thesis is to test and evaluate the active and passive vocabulary of children at two to three years. The research is of a quantitative nature and presents the results of testing that was conducted using a newly created test of active and passive vocabulary for children at two to three years.
