How Language and Nation Interwine: Changes in the Language of Australian Literature from 1830 up to the Present
Císlerová, Magdalena ; Čermák, Jan (advisor) ; Willoughby, Louisa (referee) ; Horáková, Martina (referee)
While previous research has explored the relationship between national identity and language in Australia, it has not been examined on language data through history. This dissertation thus aims to trace linguistic manifestations of emerging local identity on a corpus of canonical Australian literature from 1830 up to the present. The corpus is divided into four periods based on the stages of development of postcolonial Englishes as per Schneider's Dynamic model (2007). The central hypothesis is that local identity manifests linguistically in an increased presence of the vernacular and domestic frames of reference in periods of heightened nationalism. Consequently, the nature of this study is interdisciplinary, combining linguistics with literary and cultural studies to offer a complex picture of the relationship between language and identity via a quantitative as well as qualitative analysis. The quantitative analysis concentrates on keywords, exploring both keywords generated from the corpus, using an analogically created corpus of British literature as reference, and culturally significant keywords, following Wierzbicka's (1997) theory of every culture having a set of keywords that reflect its core values. The generated lists reflect the socio-historical and cultural context, revealing common...

"Frontáž". The Phenomenon of "frontáž" in Czech Art
European and Czech principles of contract law
Horáková, Monika ; Černá, Stanislava (advisor) ; Oehm, Jaroslav (referee)
8 Summary European and Czech Principles of Contract Law This thesis is focused on principles of contract law. In the first instance, it explains the theoretical conception of principles of law and adverts to their status in the Czech legal system. The second Chapter of the thesis dissertates about basic principles of the Czech private law starting with the principle of freedom of contract, ends with the principles of good faith and fair dealing. The main part of the thesis deals with the European principles of contract law. A contract is an indispensable instrument of a market economy. There is a close relationship between the European contract law and a proper functioning of the Single European Market. The European Union as an economic community requires harmonisation of private law, mainly the branch of contract law, to eliminate those differences between national laws which are inimical to the efficient cross-border business within Europe. The Commission on European Contract Law, as an independent body of legal experts from all the Member States of the European Union, under the chairmanship of Professor Ole Lando, started the way towards the consolidation of European contract law. It established the Principles of European Contract Law as a response to the need for a Union-wide infrastructure of contract...

Miroslava Kotvová ABSTRACT: This diploma thesis deals with the voice disorders and their treatment options. The character of the thesis is mostly theoretical and the thesis is divided into four general parts. The first one elaborates the anatomy and physiology of the vocal tract as a basis for understanding mechanisms of voice pathology development, the second one is devoted to voice disorders and their categorization, and the third part deals with their therapy, as the czech literature reflects it. The last part of this thesis is dedicated to voice disorders therapy in the United States with a practical focus on therapeutical program Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) widely used abroad during the treatment of voice disorders especially connected to Parkinson disease. The program is considered to be very effective and it is really popular outside of the Czech republic.
