Character and development of Gender Impact Assessment on the background of the framework of the gender mainstreaming concept

The thesis is aimed at - previously not researched - Gender Impact Assessment in the Czech Republic. It analysis, evaluates and interprets the character and development of the assessment process applied by three ministries in 2007-2014. A total of 236 outputs from the assessment were studied through the qualitative content analysis and the created analytical tool. The results were both explored with statistical methods and evaluated and interpreted simultaneously. The conceptual and theoretical part of the thesis explains the gender mainstreaming concept, the Czech legislative framework of Regulatory Impact Assessment and the theories of gender equality, public policy evaluation and Europeanization. The research is supported by the data obtained from interviews with expert which both describe and evaluate the assessment process and suggest recommendations for its improvement. It has been proved that primarily the assessment deals with some obstacles mainly caused by its authors who may put less emphasis on impact on equality between men and women, downplay it, do not respect the rules, do not have wide range of formulations, copy the formulations, assess more different impacts at the same time or do not have sufficient knowledge of the gender issue. Gender inequalities in the Czech labour market from the perspective of women in managerial positions - a case study

This bachelor thesis deals with gender inequalities in the Czech labour market. More specifically, it focuses on women in managerial positions and tries to find out from what perspective we should look at the issue. The choice of this specific group of women is as follows because they are the ones who have gone through the entire career process to the highest management positions. An important partial objective is the related factors that can influence the participation of women in the labour market. The bachelor thesis is divided into four parts. The first part is theoretical and concerns the issue of vertical gender segregation. It introduces the basic concepts, substantial statistics, and previous research on the subject. The second part outlines the basic and partial aims of the bachelor thesis and related research questions. The third part deals with methodology and method of data analysis. It also contains individual stories of respondents. This is the last practical part that focuses on specific results and findings. These are interpreted in connection with the theoretical anchor and extend the previous research on the subject.
Solving gender segregation in science and research institutions holding HR Excellence in Research Award

Gender segregation in science is a persistent problem. The aim of the thesis is to find out if the HR Excellence in Research Award is a tool which can help in diminution of gender segregation in that institution which get this award. The certificate is granted by European Commission and for the institution it should mean that human resource management in their workplace is on the good level. One of the points that has to be fulfilled by institution is gender equality. The outcomes of the interviews and action plans analysis show that even for this kind of institution is gender segregation an issue. However, the HR Excellence in Research Award definitely raised the awareness of the problem in the Czech science environment. The case study shows that before the award itself, only general antidiscrimination legislation without targeted support of women has existed. This situation has changed in the most of cases and the institutions has the effort to improve it with by using the specific measures. Theoretical support of the thesis is the categorization of the political instruments by Ch. The institutional setting of care about female domestic violence victims from the perspective of practice

This bachelor thesis deals with the possible breakout points for women who have become victims of domestic violence. It surveys the possibilities of institutional care for these women and then submits this care to their criticism. With the help of domestic violence victims, the author tries to detect outages in the care system and explains the possible way out of this problem. In the theoretical part of the bachelor thesis, the reader familiarizes himself with the typology of domestic violence and with the basic theories in the context of which the victims of the harassment are being seen. The very merit of this work is the deep semi-structured interviews through which the author seeks after the outages of institutional care. Closer are described in the practical part. When thoroughly analysing the data obtained, the most frequent problems are encountered, not in the wording of the documents themselves, but in the meetings of workers professionally called liner officers.

When There Is Not Just One Policy: Institutional and Financial Background of the Czech Gender Equality Policy

The aim of this thesis is to describe the institutional and financial security of the gender equality policy from 1998 to the present in the background of the interactions and relationships between its key actors - Gender Equality Unit (Office of the Government of the Czech Republic), Gender Equality Advisory bodies (Office of the Government of the Czech Republic), Department of Family and Ageing Policy (Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs), Division of Gender Equality Projects (Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs) and Gender Equality Nonprofit Organizations (Gender Equality NGO). Theoretical support of this thesis is the state/market feminism theory and theoretical concepts policy and governance. The outcomes of the analysis and expert interviews show the institutional and financial security of the gender equality policy is continual, horizontal and fragmented process created by internally and externally different actors. These actors implement their gender equality policies differently and their work is parallel.
