In the next part of this work, I am focusing on options for psychological intervention with Czech deaf people and deaf people from foreign countries. At the end of the theoretical part, I am focusing on the educational systems of psychologists on issues of deaf people in the Czech Republic and foreign countries. Part of this work is research, in which the goal was to map the consciousness of Czech deaf people among psychology students and already active psychologists. The final discoveries I put in context to our psychologist educational system. Key words: deaf, communication of deaf, deaf culture, sign language, psychologist, psychology student.
Expressing Gender and Sexual Orientation in Czech Sign Language
Haľama, Hana ; Vinš, Ondřej (advisor) ; Holubová, Kateřina (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the ways of expressing signs in the field of gender, identity and sexual orientation. The thesis aims at mapping how native speakers of Czech sign language naturally express selected terms related to gender and sexual orientation and what strategies they choose when a given term is on the periphery of their sign vocabulary, when it has no established sign or when it has more of them. The material for the research part is a series of lectures on the lives of queer people with disabilities that took place in November 2022 at the Prague Pride Community Centre, two of which were dedicated to the Deaf community. Additional research material includes semi- structured interviews with members of the LGBTQIA+ community who are also native speakers of Czech sign language. The advantage of the second part of the research is the specificity of the terms for which the thesis investigates how they are expressed in Czech Sign Language. Keywords: sign language, identity, sexual orientation, LGBTQIA+, gender
Auditory Verbal Learning Test (AVLT) Recognition Task in Czech Sign Language
Holubová, Kateřina ; Niederlová, Markéta (advisor) ; Horáková, Hana (referee)
(in English) The literature review describes the characteristics of deaf people - a group of Czech sign language users - based on medical and cultural-linguistic perspectives. Subsequent chapters provide current knowledge about psychodiagnostics within this population and the pitfalls the psychodiagnostic practitioner may encounter, including the difference in structures between the Czech language and Czech sign language. This section is concluded with a description of psychodiagnostic methods expressed in sign languages and methods initially developed in spoken languages that are nevertheless used in a modified format within this population both in the Czech Republic and abroad. The practical part is devoted to revising the original version of the Auditory Verbal Learning Test in Czech sign language and drafting a list of phonemic and semantic distractors for recognition. The psychometric properties of the converted test are then validated by a group of 31 deaf Czech Sign Language users of old age. As expected, performance on the test was correlated with age and was independent of the place of origin (Prague-Central Bohemia Region and South Moravia Region). However, in contrast to previous studies, women's performance did not deviate from men's. The test's difficulty level was comparable to the...
A study of the compressibility and properties of tablets from co-processed dry binders composed of two types of lactose and glyceryl monostearate.
Holubová, Kateřina ; Mužíková, Jitka (advisor) ; Šnejdrová, Eva (referee)
The thesis evaluated and compared the strength and disintegration time of tablets and the energy profile of compression in dependence on compression force in the co-processed dry binders LubriTose™ SD and LubriTose™ AN. These substances were further compared in these parameters with the physical mixtures of the pertinent lactoses with various lubricants in a concentration of 2 % and 4 %. The lubricants employed included glycerol monostearate, magnesium stearate, poloxamer 407, and sodium stearylfumarate. LubriTose™ AN yielded stronger tablets with a longer disintegration time, lower values of total energy and lower plasticity than LubriTose™ SD. The tablets made of LubriTose™ SD possessed the same strength as the tablets made of a physical mixture of spray-dried lactose with 4 % of poloxamer 407, but a higher one than those made of a mixture of lactose with of 4 % glycerol monostearate, and their disintegration time was longer, excepting the tablets made of a mixture with 4 % of magnesium stearate. The tablets made of LubriTose™ AN possessed the same strength and a longer disintegration time than the tablets made of a physical mixture of anhydrous lactose with 4 % of glycerol monostearate, and their disintegration time was identical with that of the tablets made of a physical mixture of the...
Study of changes on spindle and chromosomes vitrified and in vitro maturated human oocytes
Holubová, Kateřina ; Kratochvílová, Irena (advisor) ; Libusová, Lenka (referee)
The aim of this work is the comparison of cryoprotection methods for human oocytes regarding their survival rate and subsequent success in in vitro fertilization. This work showed the effect of oocyte maturation characterized by the state of the meiotic spindle, chromosomes and polar body on the success of in vitro fertilization of standard (fresh) and vitrified oocytes. The acquired knowledge will lead to a better understanding of the relationships between the state of oocytes and specific in vitro fertilization and cryoprotection procedures. The final, application-interesting goal will be to propose the optimization of methods for working with oocytes so that the probability of their success in the IVF cycle is as high as possible.

The aim of this thesis is to find out whether the interactive whiteboard is usable in occupational therapy in cognitive functions training of patients with brain damage. The theoretical part provides information on cognitive functions, their damage impact on life and their rehabilitation. It also describes the interactive whiteboard, its components and accessories. The practical part is based on using the interactive whiteboard at the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department of the Military University Hospital Prague. Two patients with brain damage and cognitive deficit were treated with help of the whiteboard there and the course of the treatments, as well as documenting the examination, was the basis for two case studies. The observation of these treatments, together with the feedback from the patients, were used to summarize the advantages and disadvantages of using of the interactive whiteboard in cognitive functions...
Home sweet home? Expats and their various ways of creating a home
Holubová, Kateřina ; Ezzeddine, Petra (advisor) ; Zandlová, Markéta (referee)
This study focuses on expats, professionals and specialists from English-speaking countries who were sent by their employers to work abroad in Switzerland. They together with their families, were asked to move to a foreign country and start new lives. Although the relocation does bring a change in career and in most cases, a better personal economic situation, it also brings with it, big life changes. The most obvious changes are associated with separation from their ancestral homes and families, and the need for the establishment of new ones. The central point of this study is the question of what helps to create these new homes and what is involved in this sphere. The fieldwork, which was defined by cohabitation with the families, consisted of observation and analysis to determine the social and material practices through which expatriate families relate to their homes - and how it was narratively reflected. Some major points of observation included the universal need for the families to have with them, objects of a material nature that linked their new home to the original and contemporary home, and a tendency to establish social ties with other expats as a substitution of the family support network. Also observed were the aspects of the adaptation of the family members to their new homes and...
Relationships between functional traits, home range sizes, and dispersal abilities in birds
Holubová, Kateřina ; Storch, David (advisor) ; Sedláček, Ondřej (referee)
Avian movements through the landscape involving dispersal and routine movements within home-range or territory are one of the basic but due to a high mobility of birds also one of the least understood processes of bird ecology, especially on the interspecific level. Not only is dispersal a fundamental mechanism of species' spreading into new areas, but also, together with home-range size, it shows the scale on which species perceive the landscape and how they can deal with habitat changes. Dispersal ability, represented by dispersal distances, is determined by a few species specific traits like body size, migratory status, wing and bill morphology, diet type, preferred habitat type or some life-history traits. On the contrary, home-range size variability is determined primarily by energetic demands of the species, given by its body size and trophic level, and by the productivity of the environment. There is a positive relationship between home-range size or territory size, respectively, and dispersal distances of birds that can be attributed to species vagility or their spatial requirements determined especially by their food preference. Nevertheless, further research mainly on interspecific level is necessary for a deeper insight into this issue.
Non-contractual obligations in private international law
Holubová, Kateřina ; Pauknerová, Monika (advisor) ; Dobiáš, Petr (referee)
Non-Contractual Obligations in Private International Law This thesis deals with non-contractual obligations in private international law. The most important law in this area is the Rome II Regulation on the law applicable to non-contractual obligations that applies since 11 January 2009. The Regulation creates a common regime of conflict of law rules for most civil and commercial non-contractual obligations. The general rule is the law of the place of injury (lex loci damni). The rule is subject to two exceptions, the common habitual residence exception and a general escape clause based on the closer connection principle. Special rules are laid down for some non-contractual obligations, such as product liability, unfair competition and acts restricting free competition, environmental damages, infringement of intellectual property rights, unjust enrichment, negotiorum gestio and culpa in contrahendo. However, in most cases, the parties may agree on the law applicable to the non- contractual obligations between them. Post-tort agreements may be made between all parties whereas pre-tort agreements are allowed only where all the parties are pursuing commercial activity. Where the Rome II Regulation does not apply the courts will look to the relevant national legislation, which is the Private...
Aphasia in Czech Sign Language Users
Holubová, Kateřina ; Hudáková, Andrea (advisor) ; Okrouhlíková, Lenka (referee)
(in English) The topic of the bachelor thesis is the manifestations of aphasia in deaf people - Czech Sign Language Users. The basic definition of this disorder is presented and the existing considerations about the localization of language in the brain are described. Attention is also focused on the contributions of linguistics to the study of aphasia. The central part of this thesis is concerned with aphasia in sign language. It describes the manifestations of this speech disorder in the foreign sign languages studied so far. The work includes two case studies of deaf patients - speakers of Czech sign language who show manifestations of the fatal disorder due to acquired brain damage. The case studies are aimed at describing different representations of aphasia in different language levels.
