The needs of seniors diagnosed with dementia from the point of view of workers in a Home with a special regime

The bachelor thesis deals with the needs of seniors diagnosed with dementia from the perspective of social workers. The theoretical part focuses on the definition of the age of old age, a description of the types of dementia in old age, the theory of needs according to A. Maslow and according to Maxe-Neef. In the practical part of the bachelor's thesis, I focus on the needs of seniors with dementia according to how social workers detect them. The practical part of the work is solved through qualitative research with the help of semi-structured interviews with employees of one Home with a special regime. The aim of my work is to find out what needs the staff of the Home with a special regime perceive in different groups of seniors and how they evaluate their ability to meet these needs in their clients.
Contemporary Social Context and Possibilities of Employing Older People in Social Enterprises

(in English) The aim of this dissertation is to create an overview of elderly people employment in social businesses in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part describes a social entrepreneurship, defines it and gives its legal frame and examples of such businesses in Europe and in the Czech Republic. The category of the elderly is defined according to their characteristics and also according to the possible link to long term unemployment. The connection with the Age management is presented at the end of the theoretical part. The empirical part focuses on the overall situation of the elderly in social businesses and on factors possibly affecting their employment in this kind of businesses. It was found out in the research that the selected target group is one of those most at risk on the labour market. At the same time, this group is one of the least supported and monitored not only in the social businesses. However, persons 50+ may become a significant group on the labour market in the future. The final part of this thesis stresses out that it is vital to change our point of view on this target group and its support on the field of active labour market policy, but, above all, to make use of the opportunity to employ these people in social entrepreneurship which is described in this dissertation...
The life of seniors in different types of settlements in Vysočina Region

(in English) The aim of this bachelor thesis is to compare selected aspects of life of seniors living in different types of settlements in the Vysočina Region. The compared settlements are the county town of Jihlava, the former district town Pelhřimov, and Kamenice nad Lipou which is a municipality with an authorized municipal office. The work consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part deals with terms related to senior age, the elderly, meaningfulness of life, active ageing, and demographics of the Czech Republic. The main sources used were reference books, Fram planning documents and other documents from the areas of the research. The practical part contains the actual research, which consists of a semi-structured questionnaire and a personal observation of specific age groups of seniors in the monitored areas. The outcomes of the research describe availability of social and health services in the settlements, aspects of life which are important to seniors and ways the requirements for the quality of life of seniors in those locations are fulfilled. Mapping of the workload of social service workers in homes for the elderly

This thesis focuses on mapping out work burden of formal caregivers in social services, above all on cathegories influencing a level of the burden. Its aim is to describe cathegories/areas of work burden of caregivers in retirement homes at standard wards and at wards with a special measures regime, where they take care of clients suffering from dementia. A sub-aim is to find out whether there are differences in perception of the work burden at the two types of wards and differences between work burden at these wards. Based on the conclusion of this thesis, recommendations for the management of retirement homes will be formulated. The research will be conducted in a retirement home which has both types of wards - the standard one and the one with speacial measures regime. Its respondents will be the formal caregivers of these wards. The use of expressive approaches in social work with the elderly

(in English) This diploma thesis entitled The Use of Expressive Approaches in Social Work with Seniors focuses on the analysis and insight into the issue of activation activities and therapies provided in homes for the elderly, in retirement home, in the Czech Republic. In the theoretical part, it defines old age, aging, care for the elderly, including residential services for seniors. It aims to provide a summary of expressive approaches used in working with seniors in homes for the elderly. It deals with the clarification of definitions, forms and methods of these techniques. The practical part of this thesis expands the issue into a real perspective. It investigates what activation activities and therapies are provided and practically carried out in homes for the elderly. It takes the form of qualitative research. Partial research objectives are to find out the relationship of clients of homes for the elderly to expressive techniques that they evaluate most positively; whether expressive approaches in working with seniors are an indispensable component of activation. The conclusion of the thesis summarizes the overall situation resulting from the investigation. Offers recommendations for working with seniors in the form of expressive methods.
Dementia syndrome in clients as a specific phenomenon in the management of workers of the care service.

The diploma thesis deals with the impact of dementia syndrome in clients of social field service on workers in direct care. The thesis connects two theoretical levels, which are closely related to the topic. This is primarily the level of the disease itself with dementia syndrome and the circumstances associated with caring for a sick person. The second level deals with the topic of managing a team of workers in direct care, with a focus on field social services. The research in the sequential variant made it possible to emphasize the moments that are specific in the care of clients with dementia syndrome in the home environment. The intention was to name the stress moments that come with working with a given target group in the home environment. At the core of the pressures mentioned by the respondents, the stress resulting from the unpredictability of the situation was found as a common denominator. It is unpredictability, given the client's illness, in the conditions of the home environment, in which the client is used to making his own decisions, despite the worsened cognition. At the next level is the stress resulting from unclear responsibility for the content of the service. Measurement of performance in social services

The diploma thesis is focused on measuring performance in social services, specifically in contributory organizations. The theoretical part deals with the definition and history of performance measurement as such, the description of the legal form of the contributory organization. Furthermore, the author deals with the definition of indicators, the description of their qualities in terms of the theory of performance measurement and models of performance measurement. In the practical part of the work, the author focuses on measuring performance in the field of care service and focuses on three possible and used indicators in the care service, namely the number of minutes / hours of direct work, the number of working hours and the number of clients. It analyzes these indicators in terms of the demands of performance measurement theory, describing the pitfalls associated with them in measuring performance in the care service and suggesting possible solutions. Adaptation of seniors for transfer from home environment into home for senior

(in English): This bachelor thesis aims to introduce the topic of adaptation, in connection with the move of seniors from the home environment to institutionalized care. The intention of the theoretical part is to generally characterize the issue of old age and aging, especially with the emphasis on significant life changes, quality of life, and specific needs of seniors and to describe and define the concept of adaptation in the closest possible context to the submitted topic. The aim of the practical (research) part is to present in the form of selected case studies examples of the "mastered" and the "failed" adaptation and based on them to point out the key factors related to the successful completion of the adaptation process.
The Process of Admission and Adaption of New Clients to a Retirement Home

The bachelor thesis is focused on admission of new clients to a retirement home and the difficulty of adjustment to this kind of major life change. The main aim of the thesis is to find out how retirement homes in the district of Kladno proceed in the admission of new clients. The theoretical part describes working with an applicant for the services, as well as the following process of adjustment, including its faults. The adjustment is also connected with the experience of stress, which is discussed among other related topics in this part of the thesis. The practical part consists of a research. Its goal is to find out how the admission process differs in different retirement homes in the district of Kladno. The secondary research question is finding out whether this process is described in their internal documents. To fulfil these goals, semi- structured interviews with social workers were conducted. The results of the research take form in the descriptions of processes of the admission of new clients and a summary of the workers' experiences.
