The thought legacy of the František Drtina

This diploma thesis deals with the thought legacy of the Czech thinker František Drtina (1861- 1925) who excelled mainly in the field of history of philosophy and pedagogy. He was educational reformer, university professor, scientist and politician. The reconstructed thought legacy of the thesis shows that Drtina significantly contributed to the understanding of the history of philosophy and pedagogy, although he did not create his own philosophical system, but brought his own pedagogical intentions. He devoted most of his writings to these scientifical disciplines. The first chapter deals with his life and follows his life destinies. This is an extensive chapter and reconstructs his life picture. This is how František Drtina is supposed to appear to a reader. The second chapter contains a thought legacy, which is set in the context of his time. There is also an analysis of his philosophical and pedagogical works. Part of this is also an evaluation by authors of the time, who are better to grasp Drtina's thought legacy. The thesis is written objectively, but with the author's interest in Czech philosophy. The work must be seen as a contribution to the history of Czech philosophy.

Heidegger's concept of man before Kehre

This bachelor thesis is meant to be an overview of the analysis of Martin Heidegger's concept of man in the first period of his work before to so-called Kehre. It focuses on the fundamental phenomena of Heidegger's Fundamental ontology: "being there" (Dasein), "having a mood" (Stimung) and "anxiety" (Angst). The thesis is mainly based on the Being and Time (Sein und Zeit) and What is Metaphysics?(Was ist Metaphysik?), with a special emphasis on Heidegger's concept of anxiety. The thesis was written with the intention to provide teachers, educators, and professionals working with helping people, particularly psychotherapists, with an insight into Heidegger's philosophy. Freedom of Conscience and Spirit of Christ - Fundamental Principle of Hussite Theology Filip Sedlák The dissertation topic is freedom of conscience in the Spirit of Christ as a specific expression of the essence of Christianity and the resulting Christian freedom in the concept of the theology of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church (CHC) - Hussite theology. Although freedom of conscience and the Spirit of Christ are two seemingly independent ideas, it is clear from the tradition of Hussite theology, including official doctrinal and legal documents, that they are connected. Zdeněk Trtík, the most important theologian for this concept, connects them later explicitly in the form mentioned above. The primary notion is the Spirit of Christ as the essence of Christianity. Freedom of conscience as a form of Christian freedom ensues from it due to accepting the authority of the Spirit of Christ, accepting Christ as the Lord, and becoming his disciples. The concept of freedom of conscience in the Spirit of Christ has a crucial permanent place in the CHC tradition and has been present in it from the beginning to the present. This paper's focus was the similarity between Socrates and Jesus. We have compared various events and circumstances in their lives and in their teachings. Both men were responsible for the emergence of a thinking that was unparalleled until then. Their teaching is of an ethical kind. The task of every man is not only to know the virtues of goodness, justice, truth, etc. but to live by them.

French Evolucionism in the Light of Modern Science Author: Pavel Šlégr This work deals especially on comparasion of thinking of two French thinkers-christian evolutionists of sekond half of 19th century and first half of 20th century: Henri Bergson and Perre Teilhard de Chardin. My comparision ges on following thematice areas: biografy of both thinkers, time and space, overcoming mechanicism, causaility and teleology, sources, direction and structure of evolution, evolutionism of 19th and 20th century. Next part of this work is devoted to undesrtanding man in work of both thinkers. This work deals also contemporary evolutionism, based especially on statistical methods of work with genes and their models. This work deals also modern physical and cosmological theories and brings them to connection with works of Bergson and Teilhard.

East and West and Cognition

The work is a philosophical and necessarily also historical-philosophical comparative analysis of mutually corresponding accents of the issue spanning the period from the 8th century BC to the present, with regard to the "axial period" of cultural "miracle" similarly prosperous cultures and philosophies in the relatively severed countries of East and West. It then deals in more detail with some important and fundamental philosophers and spiritual teachers, related scholars or artists of various disciplines, but also lesser-known personalities, based on general inputs into the deepest depths of thought of these thinkers, all in a relatively intuitive connection, because the scope of work does not allow for a more detailed continuous interpretation of such a wide range of issues. In the end, the author emphasizes, philosophically analyzes and evaluates the most pressing issues of contemporary society. The work should primarily show the Way, not lead, but it is up to the reader / researcher to decide how to approach the text. There is always "some" Enlightenment at the end.

Existencialism and its Implementation in Education

This thesis aims to outline the most influential ideas of existentialism and relate them to our everyday life. The first part focuses on five existential writers and their most profound contributions. It addresses the works of Dostoyevsky, Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Sartre, and Camus. The second part consists of twelve subchapters, tackling the questions of freedom, determinism, anxiety, suffering, authenticity, responsibility, and the search for meaning in life. This part seeks to put issues of existential philosophy into practical use and highlight its everlasting influence and relevance in today's world. It is constructed in the form of twelve lessons, offering various examples and views on the thought-provoking concepts presented in the first part.

Thanatology as Problem

This diploma thesis called Thanatology - taboo of death as the phenomenon of contemporary society deals with the problematics of new discipline called thanatology in its broader context. It concentrates on the conclusion of human life, death and dying and concerning mysteries and question arising. The aim of my thesis is description of the taboo topic of death, which has been intentionally denied and forced out by contemporary society because of terrifying fear connected to this term. Through my thesis, I would like to break the silence connected to this term. The aim is to introduce the term of thanatology itself and thanatology as the discipline of science. The thesis describes the conception of death not only from the point of view of various science disciplines but also from the point of view of major world religions and its specific funeral rituals, including functions of such rituals. This thesis also deals with the historical excursion of death which distinguishes from the contemporary conception. Diploma thesis explains processes that are happening in the human body subsequently after human's death. The emphasis is also put on the clinical death and its consequences. Thesis also introduces various representatives of thanatology as Socrates, John Amos Comenius, T.G. Masaryk and Jan Patočka....

Education, dialogue and totalitarianism in philosophical reflection

The purpose of the diploma thesis is to interpret the philosophical concepts of the education, dialogue and totality against the backdrop of the potential contemporary educational crisis. The thesis demonstrates the contributions of philosophy in characterisation of education. The topics were inspired by the question whether the formal education can develop the authentic thinking of an individual. The author aims to expose the original and justifiable assumptions of education and demonstrate the potential consequences of education perceived solely as a matter of formation and integration into pre-set social structures and mechanisms. The thesis exposes the very essence of education as the fundamental capability of entering dialogue and points out its need for a free yet responsible self-determination of a post-modern individual whose inherent ability to surpass own assumptions prevents the society from the rise of the totalitarian thinking.
