Rejzl, Bohuslav ; Hnilica, Jiří (advisor) ; Frankl, Michal (referee) ; Fasora, Lukáš (referee)
The aim of the dissertation is to present the phenomenon of forced migration of the civilian population during the First World War on the territory of Austria-Hungary, with special regard to their asylum in the Czech lands. The study is not limited to a single particular group of refugees based on ethnic or national affiliation but offers a view of ethnic pluralism in the place of their temporary asylum. The thesis attempts to synthesize the existing knowledge in historiography on the course and conditions of forced displacement of the civilian population on the Eastern and Italian fronts and presents the process of integration of refugees and evacuees in the territory of Bohemia and Moravia. On the basis of the study of archival sources of Austrian and Czech provenance, it pays attention to the reconstruction of life in refugee camps, the system of social and health care in the villages, spiritual life and, last but not least, the process of re-migration and repatriation, with regard to its continuity in the post-war years. In the socio-political context of the first years of Czechoslovakia, the thesis focuses on the social status of war refugees, furthermore it presents the process of liquidation of refugee care and the way of life in refugee camps in the time of the post-war demobilization.

Landscape and people's lives. Region of Poděbrady in the first half of 20th century
Bartošová, Dana ; Hnilica, Jiří (advisor) ; Havlůjová, Hana (referee)
In my thesis I tried to put down the transformation of rural areas, specifically the region of Poděbrady, which took place in the first half of the 20th century. The center of the region is the town Poděbrady, the whole area consists of 35 municipalities together. The transformation of rural involved several factors - the establishment of an independent republic, land reform, electrification, river regulation, the development of communications, transport and mechanization of agriculture. I deal with the natural conditions of the region, because they greatly influence the local life and economy. "Střední Polabí" is a flat area known for its fertility. Therefore, most people here worked in agriculture in the first half of the 20th century. Major employers were landowners from aristocratic families, particularly in Poděbrady and Dymokury. They gave work to people in the fields and in industrial plants. Breweries, sugar mills, brickworks, dairy, oily or glassworks were in operation in the region. Leisure, customs and festivals belonged also to the life of people.

Pech, Daniel ; Pokorný, Jiří (advisor) ; Hnilica, Jiří (referee)
The bachelor thesis is focused on the history of the Jizera river until 1880. The Jizera is a medium-sized Czech river. Its springs at the foot of the Jizera Mountains and in Lázně Toušeň flows into the Elbe, to whose basin it belongs. The thesis is devoted only to the section of the Jizera flowing through the district of Mladá Boleslav and deals with the relationship between the river and man in the course of history. In the first part, it examines the influence of the Jizera on the emergence of human settlement and infrastructure in Mladá Boleslav region, or on their subsequent development. It therefore focuses on how the physical-geographic conditions created by the river led to the construction of human settlements, trails, long-distance roads or some technical structures, while one of the chapters also deals with the question of how the Jizera River affected the leisure time of people living near it banks. The second part of the bachelor thesis deals with how human activity influenced or changed the flow of the river. It focuses on certain water works such as weirs, mill drives, dams and weir culverts. Theses tries to find an answer to the question of why these water structures were built and what impact they had on not only the form and flow of the Jizera, but also on the activities carried...

Title: Life in refugee camps in Bavaria after World War II. Author: Ilona Hypšová Supervisor: doc. PhDr. Jiří Hnilica, Ph.D. The bachelor thesis deals with life in refugee camps in Bavaria after the Second World War. To this end, the bachelor thesis asks several questions, including: "What was the situation in Central Europe, especially in Czechoslovakia and Germany between 1945 and 1955?", "For what reasons did people leave or flee Czechoslovakia?" and "What were their beginnings in the refugee camps? What was life like there?" The topic of escapes and emigration from Czechoslovakia is related to the post-war situation in both Czechoslovakia and Germany in the years 1945-1955 and it shows the complexity of the period in both countries. Czechoslovakia was slowly coming under the rule of the Communist Party, Germany lay in ruins and was initially divided between the four victorious powers: the USA, Great Britain, the Soviet Union, and France. Immediately after the war, Sudeten Germans were expelled from Czechoslovakia and subsequently displaced finding a place to stay in a destroyed Germany, primarily in Bavaria. The fleeing Germans are joined only a short time later by Czechoslovak refugees fleeing the newly established regime. They travelled to the United States or Australia, but the refugees...
