Usage of Rich Bottom Layers
Simkovič, Lukáš ; Hegr, Zdeněk (referee) ; Hýzl, Petr (advisor)
The aim of this diploma thesis is theoretical knowledge of the problems rich bottom layer and practical part of comparison of three asphalt mixtures for base layers using common road bitumen and modified rubber granulate. Selected functional laboratory tests (low temperature, fatigue resistance, bulk density) and stiffnes modules are performed on these mixtures and the results are compared to each other.
The use of asphalt recycled materials in the base and subbase layers of pavements
Tanečková, Pavlína ; Hýzl, Petr (referee) ; Stehlík, Dušan (advisor)
This thesis consists of theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part gathers available information on the current state of construction and demolition waste management. This part discusses foreign experiences with SDW management, provides basic information on the introduction of circular economy. Equally important is the environmental impact, which is discussed from the perspective of Decree No 283/2023 Coll. It also provides basic information on construction and demolition waste and describes the recycling process. It also discusses the most common types of recyclates and their use in roads. The practical part of this thesis verifies the possibilities of using asphalt recyclates and their mixtures cemented with asphalt emulsion or hydraulic binder. The main objective was to verify the possibilities of using these recyclates in cemented subbase layers for urban roads. These possibilities were verified and then compared by means of laboratory tests. Finally, a comparison of cemented mixtures of asphalt recyclates with specific binder dosage and low temperature heating of the mixture for optimum compaction to the desired strength values using recyclates is made.
Binders for flexible pavements
Pěnčík, Michal ; Čiháčková, Pavlína (referee) ; Hýzl, Petr (advisor)
The Bachelor`s thesis is focused on binders, which are used in flexible pavements. Firstly, we offer the reader description of different types of bitumen binders, which could be found in nature, and binders produced from petroleum through the process of distillation and further processing. Later on, we focus on the issue of testing these binders. The last part of the work deals with alternative types of binders which could potentially replace traditional bitumen binders.
Open-graded asphalt concrete filled with a special cement grout
Lutonský, Filip ; Hatem,, Lotfi (referee) ; Hýzl, Petr (advisor)
The thesis is aimed at deepening knowledge about the design and use of open-graded asphalt concrete filled with a special cement grout. The first part is the issue discussed theoretically with reference to the real possibility of practical application, a description of the various manufacturers and their patented technologies. The second part of this work is devoted to assess the resistance of this technology to chemical de-icing agents.
New trends in pavement maintenance
Březina, Ilja ; Stryk, Josef (referee) ; Hýzl, Petr (advisor)
The diploma thesis is dealing with the topic of new trends in asphalt road routine maintenance with a focus on new possibilities to repair damaged road surface, especially potholes and cracks. In the diploma thesis, a new advice which uses microwave heating in resurfacing asphalt roads was developed with the aim to observe its effectiveness and the optimal repair time. The obtained results were consulted with the producer of the equipment in order to utilize this new technology for repairing potholes and cracks on asphalt road surface in standard practice.
Toll issues
Mareček, Jakub ; Stehlík,, Dušan (referee) ; Hýzl, Petr (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the issues of toll collection in the road network. The first part of the work describes the established tolling methods and focuses on volume-distance tolling. It deals with electronic toll collection systems and the microwave toll technology used in the Czech Republic. The second part focuses on the fees charged for use of road network, function of the Customs Administration and telematic systems. The third part centers on the extension of toll to second- and third-class roads and the costs of implementation and managment of toll collection. The fourth part of the work discusses the issues and evaluation of the system of implementation, extension and collection of toll.
Mixed builging recycled material for pavement subgrades
Masař, Daniel ; Hýzl, Petr (referee) ; Stehlík, Dušan (advisor)
The Bachelor thesis is focused on the use of mixed building recycled material for pavement subgrades. The theoretical part describes the production and usability of recycled building materials and also the economic evaluation against commonly used natural materials. The main point of the theoretical part is the use of mixed recycled material in the subsoil of roads with increased attention to the use in the active zone of road. It also describes laboratory tests that are important for evaluating the qualities of recycled materials and problematic qualities that can affect the life of a construction work. In a separate chapter, it presents foreign experience with the use of recycled building materials for building transport structures. The practical part verifies the suitability of mixed building recycled material to the active zone of road by tests of the California bearing ratio, soil freezing rate and crushing resistance by Los Angeles.
Foam asphalt mixtures
Brtníková, Tereza ; Komenda, Radek (referee) ; Hýzl, Petr (advisor)
The diploma thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is mainly focused on methods for reducing the working temperature in the production of hot mix asphalt and the main reasons for this. Most attention is paid to the warm mix asphalt, mainly foam asphalt technology. In practical part are describes working procedures of individual tests on asphalt mixtures and recovered bitumen binders. The tests were performed on 3 types of ACO 11+, one was made with working temperature 160°C without foamed bitumen and the other two with foamed bitumen, one with working temperature 160°C and the second 140°C. Then were the results compared.
Usage of recycled material in asphalt surface layers
Malá, Markéta ; Komenda, Radek (referee) ; Hýzl, Petr (advisor)
Diploma thesis deals with adding R - material to the wearing asphalt courses, specifically to the SMA 11S. It has two parts – theoretical and practical. The theoretical part describes using R - material in the recycling of roads, different types of recycling and how is this problem handled in the Czech Republic, the practical part deals with the design of three kinds of asphalt mixtures with different added ratios of R – material, describing empirical and functional tests on the bitumen binder and the designed asphalt mixtures and the results of those tests.
Usage of recycled materials to asphalt mixtures
Zítka, Patrik ; Kašpar, Jiří (referee) ; Hýzl, Petr (advisor)
This thesis deals with the R-material use in asphalt mixtures. In the theoretical part, different kinds of flexible pavement recycling and ways of adding R-material into asphalt mixtures are discussed. The practical part deals with asphalt layers design and manufacture, specifically for binder course ACL 16+. R-material content in the blends is 0%, 20%, 25% and 30%. EVOTHERM MA3 rejuvenator is used as additive for softening of R-material. Various mixtures are compared based on tests - resistance to permanent deformation, resistance to the effects of water and low temperature properties.
