Public-private collaboration in research and development in the framework of regional innovation systems.
Deďo, Peter ; Hána, David (advisor) ; Srholec, Martin (referee)
The present thesis discusses the topic of public-private collaboration in research and development in Czech regions. A bibliometric keyword analysis was used in this elaboration, based on which a theoretical framework of the thesis was compiled, presenting the most important theoretical concepts related to the interaction of private companies with universities and research institutes. The thesis has two main objectives, based on which it aims to reveal the nature of the size of partial subsystems of regional innovation systems in Czech NUTS 3 regions in relation to economic and innovation performance and to confront the thesis on the link between the innovation performance of regions and the degree of interconnectedness of subsystems on data of collaborative projects in Czechia. The conducted analyses showed a negative dependence of the size of the private R&D segment and innovation performance. It turned out that in the conditions of Czechia the statement that developed regions with a developed innovation system show a larger relative representation of the private segment is not valid. The second finding supports the thesis of a correlation between the intensity of collaboration between research institutions and firms and their innovation performance. Distribution of monuments in the public space of Prague, their symbolic importance and conflict nature
Koblížková, Adéla ; Hána, David (advisor) ; Daněk, Petr (referee)
This thesis examines the spatial distribution of monuments across public spaces in Prague. Its goal is to determine how these monuments, with diverse symbolisms, are arranged in the public space, how they interact with this space and the conflicts they generate. Because the symbolic meaning of a monument is so important, this paper explores the monuments' significance at the time they were built compared to their contemporary meaning. Based on field research and data collection, categories of monuments were created, mapped in ArcGIS software and then analysed in more detail. The paper considers the spatial distribution of monuments in the so-called Greater Prague, investigating the factors that have influenced their location supported by evidence from literature. This thesis also examines contentious monuments, particularly the Marian column and the statue of Marshal Konev, why they are perceived as problematic from the perspective of collective memory and how that is reflected in the city's spaces. The results of the analysis demonstrate that the function of a monument changes over time and society places great emphasis on its symbolic meaning. Contemporarily, the most common monuments are those depicting the tragic events of the World Wars, and these can be found across the entire area in scope....

Štěpánová, Anna ; Hána, David (advisor) ; Bernard, Josef (referee)
In recent years, housing affordability has become a topic which has resonated with Czech society. Due to several factors, free housing stock is becoming depleted and sales prices and apartment rents are rising. However, the housing situation is not identical in all part of Czechia, but is characterized by regional differences. One of the starting points of the current situasion is an effective housing policy, which is formed not only by the state and regions, but mainly by representatives of some municipalities, who are able to respond with appropriate tools to local specific situations and problems. Although the solution of housing affordability often takes some time, every four years a new representation is in power and promises different ways how to fix current state. Political parties and movements reflect issues in their election programmes and their solution is desirable and can bring significant electoral votes. The success of a party or a movement can then be a reflection of the right choice of agenda. It does not end with the integration of issue into election programme, what frame party or movement present in this context, points out in which direction it wants to lead its policy or what values it focuses on. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate presentation of the housing affordability...
Pork barrel in Czechia in 2003-2009: spatial dimension and the identification of some causal factors
Hána, David
The aim of this diploma thesis is an attempt to reveal a regularity and dependence in spatial distribution of the pork barrel (i.e. the parliamentary grants) in the case of Czechia in 2003-2009. Moreover, the thesis attempts to identify some undermining factors of the proven spatial pattern in allocation of pork barrel financial sources. The selection of supported projects highly depends on subjective preferences of particular deputies being influenced by many factors. Accordingly, the diploma thesis examines a role of the spatial distribution of deputies' places of living and their influences on the spatial allocation of the pork barrel through the state budget being approved in the Lower House.

Deďo, Peter ; Hána, David (advisor) ; Kebza, Martin (referee)
The subject of this bachelor thesis is the economic inequalities in the European Union between 1999 and 2018, with the aim to analyze the impact of capital flows resulting from dividends and remittances paid out on the development of spatial disparities between national states. The first part of the thesis attempts to anchor the theme into the concept of the World system by I. Wallerstein with an overlap into the historical context, which formed the basis for today's polarization of Europe. The following is a brief description of the pros and cons of inequalities with the presentation of the European Union's efforts to address this problem. In the methodological part there are described the tools for the study of variability and capital flows. The empirical study applies methodological approaches to the specific data of gross domestic product and gross disposable income coming mainly from Eurostat. Subsequently, the author tries to interpret the obtained analysis outputs. Keywords: European Union, inequalities, capital flows, Gini coefficient, GDP, structural funds
