The position of community Alcoholics Anonymous in addiction services system: Experience and attitudes of AA members in Prague

Alcoholics Anonymous is the largest and best-known self-help organization. In the Czech Republic, neither its position nor its number and characteristics of its members are known yet. Therefore it is necessary to learn more about them. There is a supervised therapy, as well as AA. Is it possible to find a connection between these "different" approaches to alcohol addiction therapy? The theoretical part contains a description of alcohol addiction, information about the system of medical care for alcoholics and information on the current situation in the Czech Republic. The most important information is described in the chapter on Alcoholics Anonymous fellowship. The main research objective is to describe the characteristics, behavior and motivation of all AA groups in Prague and possibly find out which place can AA hold in the system of addictology services. In accordance with the objective five research questions were specified. Data were collected through a questionnaire and subsequently analyzed using mathematical and statistical techniques with the help of IBM SPSS Statistics 20 software. Prevalence and incidence of alcohol tobacco and cannabis use in the cohort of primary school students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade

Background The period of adolescence is typical for first experiments and initiation of substance use. The onset of experiments emerges between 11 and 15 years of age according to different authors. Although many adolescents end with experiments, there is still a group of those who proceed to regular use. Frequent, regular and especially heavy substance use represents various risks in many aspects of individual's life. According to various studies earlier onset of substance use may predict serious difficulties in adult stages of life. Important and currently widely discussed question is differences in substance use between boys and girls. Aims To identify the age of cigarette, alcohol and cannabis use onset according to gender. To find out prevalence of use among boys and girls. To find out whether incidence of substance use is higher during school year or summer holidays. Methods The ESPAD questionnaire was used for data collection, which was realized in the period of 34 months from August 2007 until June 2010. Analysis of European Harm Reduction magazines targeting illegal addictive substances users

Starting point: The subject matter of this degree work is Analysis of European Harm Reduction magazines targeting illegal addictive substances users with the exception of marihuana. The research complex is formed from 11 magazines. The common criteria for their selection was a processing of the first number published in 2015. Twenty-nine variables were monitored in all magazines. This work was inspired by Jany Reekers'article (Adiktologie, 2012) where the author tried to map out magazines for addictive substances users all over the world. Aims: The object of this study is to map out magazines for illegal addictive substances users which are published in Europe. The magazines for marihuana users are not subsumed in this work. The further object is to detail the magazines from the viewpoint of formal criteria and do their content analysis. Methods: The analysis of documents, one of the basic types of the research in qualitative approach was used in this study. Mapping and description of treatment interventions in Apolinar treatment facility with focus on metamphetamine users

The aim of this work was to map the treatment interventions with woman ward block of the Clinic of addictology - Apolinář, with the focus on users of methamphetamine. The topic of this work was chosen based on the absence of researches with this issue. Literature dealing with this issue in our country is unfortunately sporadic and therefore based on the general literature on this topic. The representative number of patients with methamphetamine addiction wasn't ensured during the research. The permission by the Ethical Committee would be needed as well. Due to the time limitation the most effective way was to choose the employees of the Clinic of addictology - Apolinar, who have experience with these patients. The final research had 5 respondents. The research included the interviews with the employees and was supported also by analysis of documentation and observation of researcher during her internship. Based on the research it was found that methamphetamine-dependent patients are young, immature, creative and impulsive, with external motivation and dissocial behavior. Use of descriptors for evaluating the input and output knowledge and skills in elementary school students

Bachelor thesis "Using descriptors for evaluation of the input and output of knowledge and skills of 2nd grade elementary school students" deals with the evaluation and effectiveness of primary prevention, which is performed by non-profit organization Semiramis z.ú. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part is devoted to the concepts of primary prevention, program evaluation, minimal preventive program, the target groups of primary prevention and social skills. The second part deals with the research itself and creation of the descriptors (questionnaires), which are used in the research. Descriptors measure the knowledge and skills of students before and immediately after the block. On the basis of acquired data and mutual comparison with the results recorded by teachers of primary prevention, I find that performed primary prevention programs are effective.
Cannabis drugs among students of Prague medical faculties: prevalence of use and related risk behaviour

Objectives : The main goal of this work is to find out prevalence of use cannabis drugs among students of medical faculties in Prague and also find out a relationship between cannabis drugs abuse and risk behaviour. Sample : The research sample consisted of 686 medical students First, Second and Third faculty of Medecine of Charles University in Prague. The main criterium for entry into the research was that students had to be enrolled in first through fifth year of medicine. Students of medicine sixth grade were excluded from research because of their limited time schedule, which related to their studies. Methods : Research was provided by quantitative methods - questionnaire, which was structured and anonymous Results : It was found that lifetime prevalence of cannabis use among medical students compared with the earlier results of different studies significantly increased. The prevalence of cannabis use over the past 12 months was higher in men than in women. It was confirmed that men on average achieve higher scores on the CAST questionnaire, which maps the risk behavior regarding the use of cannabis. Mapping of the mathamphetamine users interest in the substitution therapy and their willingness to participate int he clinical study focused on effectiveness of the substitution therapy

Background: In The Czech Republic the study that would provide an overview of the interest of active methamphetamine user in substitution treatment has never been realised. Also there is no study that would chart their willingness to participate in clinical study of effectiveness of this kind of treatment. Aim: The main aim of this thesis was to chart interest of the active methamphtamine users in substitution treatment and their willingness to participate in clinical study of effectiveness of this type of treatment. Methodology: The studie was designed as a quantitative questionnaire survey. Analysis of data was carried out using means of descriptive statistics and statistical tests (chi-squared test of indenpendence for 2 x 2 contingency table, two-sample F-test, two-sample t-test). Research sample: The research sample consists of 130 respondents (99 men and 31 women). Research participants are active methamphetamine users, who are the clients of low-threshold services for drug users in the city of Prague, The Czech Republic (NGOs Drop In, SANANIM, Progressive). Title: The Extent of Use of Syringes among Injection Drug Users in the Czech Republic in 2010. Abstract: The goal of my bachelor thesis - The Extent of Use of Syringes among Injection Drug Users in the Czech Republic in 2010, is to point out the extent of the distribution of syringes to injection drug in the Czech Republic. In theory part my main focus is on problem injection use, complication connected with intravenous application, and with reducing risk and harm of this use. I also pay attention to drug low-treshold services. In the practical part, I have collected zhe data obtained from producers of this specific injection material and from six most known distributors who supply public pharmacies with healing preparations and medical technology. I have conducted a survey on situatin of patients who aplly insulin using classic insulin injections. Further, I have conducted a survey on delivery of this insuli injections into institution of hospital type and for other final markets. In my work I also focus on the biggest final market: threshold services - contact centres, terrain programme. Identification and evaluation of websites of harm reduction interventions targeting illicit drug users in the Czech Republic

The thesis describes the course and results of the research into the field of Harm Reduction (HR) through the internet websites in the Czech language. Nowadays the internet forms an inseparable part of most people's lives from all social classes. This fact is reflected in the interests of both service providers for drug users and laymen interested in drug issues. Unfortunately, according to current research we do not know much about what information and in which quality and range can people find about drug Harm reduction on the internet. Therefore, the aim of this thesis was to identify and evaluate internet websites in the field of harm reduction intervention focused on the users of illegal drugs in the Czech Republic. Internet websites were evaluated not only with respect to the contents and range of the information provided but also with respect to topicality, functionality and objectivity. What was found were 13 Czech complex websites, 7 professional HR organisations and also 6 non-professional HR websites. The websites of professional organisations in most cases fulfilled the essential criteria of authority, objectivity and topicality. Cannabis drugs use and the status of the student in the class: a comparison of different types of secondary schools

The objective of my thesis is to deepen and expand research on my thesis I tried to prove or disprove the link between social status in the classroom and student use of cannabis. For research, I chose a sample of 21 students cook waiter field. In my thesis expand my research, because I want to prove whether the result is unique to college or is a general phenomenon among high school students. For the purposes of my research, I added one class schools, two gymnazium school classes, because this children are considered elite, and finally two classes of business school and for this reason that this type of education is visited the largest number of students. In my research I used combination od three methods. sociometric research, selected questions from the ESPAD questionnaire and interviews with selected students. Based on the research showed that the visible difference in the relation between social status and cannabis use at each school. The largest is in the school and the smallest is in the gymnazium.. This fact seems to me very interesting and I think that the fact this could work to solve this serious problem.
