Factors influencing life satisfaction, the GDP indicator in relation to happiness and life satisfaction
Nováčková, Veronika ; Vejchodská, Eliška (advisor) ; Frič, Pavol (referee)
The main topic of the master thesis is the relationship between life satisfaction and the GDP indicator. Factors that influence life satisfaction are the subject of my research. The master thesis is based on two scientific studies that deal with the relationship between life satisfaction and the GDP indicator. The conclusions of these two studies contradict each other. The first study was published in 1974 by Richard Easterlin. According to Easterlin's paradox, the people's happiness in a given country does not increase with increasing GDP in the long run. When people reach a certain level of wealth and material well-being, their subjective happiness and overall life satisfaction do not grow anymore. The second scientific study was published in 2008 by Stevenson and Wolfers. The authors concluded that there is a positive correlation between life satisfaction and increasing GDP per capita in many countries. This master's thesis aimed to find out what could be the reason behind this contradiction. Moreover, the master's thesis aimed to identify factors influencing life satisfaction. In the empirical part of the work, I used qualitative research methods. Based on the methodologies used in the two studies, I created two types of questionnaires. In total, I conducted fifty semi- structured interviews....

Pálová, Anna ; Jelínková, Marie (advisor) ; Frič, Pavol (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the media image of migrant women on the Czech news websites Aktuálně.cz and iRozhlas.cz. The current situation in Ukraine proves the relevance of the topic of the thesis, which aims to find out what image of migrant women is created by these media, which present themselves as free and independent. For example, the work finds that media coverage of refugee women in foreign settings is most frequent. Furthermore, migrant women are portrayed predominantly as victims and heroines of refugee processes. Texts are devoted to personal stories and connotations of sympathy and admiration. These results are further complemented by a quantitative approach that assesses how much space is given to migrant women within the topic of migration....
The controversial nature of a social enterprise as a commercialized organization of the civil sector
Hořínková, Monika ; Frič, Pavol (advisor) ; Witz, Petr (referee)
The topic of this diploma thesis is the commercialization of civic organizations, which we understand as the process in which they take over some procedures, methods and strategies of the commercial sector in order to generate some profit. As the highest level of commercialization, this work considers the transformation of civil organization into a so called social enterprise. At the next potential level, this civic organization would become a pure market enterprise acting as socially responsible. Thus, a social enterprise is defined as a civic organization, for which profiting is just as important as an increase in public benefit by fulfilling of its own altruistic mission. However, it is said that this social mission may be threatened by the economic one. Whereas the social enterprise combines those two opposing attributes in the form of a social and economic mission, it is considered to be controversial. That's why the aim of this diploma thesis is to determine the importance of a transformation of civic organization into the social enterprise for its life and how this transformation affects its functioning and its essence. The diploma theses is based primarily on the theory of civil society, the civil sector, the social economy and the theory of social enterprise. It is a case study, which...
