Methods of measuring bit rates
Franc, Jan ; Mišurec, Jiří (referee) ; Zeman, Václav (advisor)
Study and basic benchmarking methodology description of network connections based on the IP was the objective of bachelor work. I resulted above all from RFC standards, by which are directed most of Internet protocols. Particular procedures for testing are explained in RFC 2544. On the basis of parameters analysis, I suggested conception and gave shape to web application which allows identify referenced basic transfer parameters of Internet connection (downstream, upstream, latency, scattering of connection speed). Application doesn’t require no add-ons and modules on user side. It is built on server programming language PHP with usage of relational MySQL database, in which are stored data. Client scripting language JavaScript is also used. Application offers measuring of mentioned parameters both to visitors and to registered users. Matter of course is user registration; work with history of carried out measuring, sending private messages between registered users. Above whole application exists administrator account.
Methods for the measurement of bit rates in data networks
Franc, Jan ; Martinásek, Zdeněk (referee) ; Zeman, Václav (advisor)
The target of this master's thesis were the known methods for testing the quality of transfer parameters of data networks. I have studied the RFC 2544 document to analyze these tests. From that information and by studying other existing web-based applications I was able to design a concept of my own application that will allow to measure basic quality parameters of transfers made through the Internet (the parameters: downstream, upstream, latency, variance of these and a traced route). My application doesn't require any modifications on the user's system. It's built on the server-based programming language PHP and uses the relational database engine MySQL to store measurement and user data. On the client side, it's assisted by the JavaScript scripting language. Both registered users and visitors are allowed to perform the listed measurements. Registered users are able to browse the history of their own benchmark results and also to send messages to others. There is an administrative account to oversee the operations. Another part of my thesis work is an application for Windows that performs the same measurements but does not use JavaScript.

Legal capacity proceedings and custody of person limited in legal capacity proceedings
Franc, Jakub ; Frintová, Dita (advisor) ; Střeleček, Tomáš (referee)
Proceedings concerning the legal capacity and guardianship of a person with limited legal capacity Abstract The thesis deals with the procedural regulation of the proceedings concerning the legal capacity in a narrower sense, i.e. the proceedings on the limitation of the legal capacity of a person and the subsequent proceedings on the appointment of his/her guardian. Legal capacity is closely linked to legal personality, and therefore any interference with legal capacity, especially its limitation, is a serious interference with the personal integrity of a person, and the process of such interference must be sensitively regulated by law. The aim of the thesis is to map and analyse the legal regulation concerning the limitation of a person's legal capacity, primarily from the procedural law point of view, but also by analysing the relevant substantive provisions. The first part of the thesis deals in detail with the institute of legal capacity, its definition and the various ways of acquiring it. In the second part, the thesis deals with more supportive (milder) measures that serve to safeguard a person's interests without having to limit his or her legal capacity. The related institutions such as preliminary declaration, assistance in decision- making and representation by a household member are...
The Changes of Church Communication in the Third Millennium: The Reform of Vatican Media and its Impacts in the Period of the Credibility Crisis
Zavadilová, Tereza ; Koudelková, Petra (advisor) ; Kočí, Martin (referee) ; Franc, Jaroslav (referee)
This thesis explores a specific part of the contemporary Church communication area: the Vatican media reform that started in 2015, two years after the appointment of Pope Francis, as a part of the gradual reform of the whole Roman Curia. The aim of this still unfinished media reform is to make Vatican media (radio, TV, press office, news website Vatican News etc.) more technologically and financially effective, to share the message of Pope Francis through the most modern communication channels, to employ more laymen instead of clerics (in 2018 prefect Paolo Ruffini became the first layperson who ever led the Vatican dicastery), and to give voice to the local Church in the world. The many shifts included media unification, convergence, digitization, employing social media and a more reciprocal relationship with the public. Nevertheless, the secondary aim of the reform was to transform Vatican media into more transparent, trustworthy, and reliable source of information about the Church and the faith - especially in this era of a "credibility crisis" caused by the abuse of authority, power, conscience and sexual abuse of minors and vulnerable adults. The thesis proves that the reform has, apart from the obvious technological money-sparing face, also a content face - e.g., the aim to restore its...
The Psychological Aspects of Navigation of the Blind
Franc, Jakub ; Kebza, Vladimír (advisor) ; Horáková Hoskovcová, Simona (referee) ; Macek, Tomáš (referee)
This dissertation thesis addresses the area of spatial navigation of the blind. The author theoretically deals with a complex interplay of psychological functions involved in spatial navigation with respect to the specific conditions of the blind. The empirical part of the thesis presents an experimental study in the population of the blind (N=44). This study focuses on effects of the stress recovery phase from shortly increased stress levels on the process of learning a new route. The experiment is placed in real-world settings and overcomes some of the methodological flaws typical for this research domain. The research evidence suggests that the recovery phase from shortly increased stress levels hinders the development of procedural knowledge of the route. However, this deterioration in route knowledge is not associated with the effects of the strsss phase itself, but affects only the recovery phase part of the route in which stress levels are returning to their original baseline levels (not necessarily the level of the resting conditions). Besides its theoretical conclusions, the value of the presented thesis is in its contribution to the advancements of research methods in the given field. The outcomes of this work are practically applicable to the development of navigation aids for the blind....

The master thesis titled The Ancient Egypt Resources of the Coptic Religiosity: the Selected Subjects is in the hypothetic possibility focused on the continuity of the religious symbolism from Ancient Egypt times to the time of The Coptic Church. The paper is based on the personal experience from within The Coptic Church in Egypt as well as on the research in libraries and museums. The attention is drawn mainly to the theme of breastfeeding woman - Eset, Isis, the Virgin Mary.
Studium elektrického pole v detektorech záření pomocí Pockelsova jevu
Hakl, Michael ; Franc, Jan (advisor) ; Richter, Ivan (referee)
Study of electric field in radiation detectors by Pockels effect (Master Thesis) by Michael Hakl Abstract Cadmium Telluride (CdTe) is a convenient candidate for room tem- perature detection of X-ray and gama radiation due to 1.5 eV band- gap energy and high atomic mass. Since CdTe has the highest linear electro-optical coefficient among II-VI compounds, the detector rep- resents a Pockels cell. Transmittance of the crystal is modulated by the internal electric field. Processing of infrared camera photographs results in an electric field profile between biasing electrodes. The elec- tric field in semi-insulting CdTe is influenced with deep level traps causing charge polarization under the electrodes. Occupation of traps is dependent on metal-semiconductor interface. Relation of charge accumulation and band bending for gold and indium contacts was studied. Repolarization/depolarization induced by additional illumi- nation with sub/above bandgap excitation laser was observed and ex- ploited for determination of the deep level energy. Results obtained by the Pockels-effect method were supported with luminescence measure- ments. Correlation between the occurrence of deep levels and surface point defects was discovered. Keywords: Pockels electro-optical effect, Cadmium Telluride ra- diation detector, Electric field, Schottky...
