The Support for Competitiveness of Higher Education Institutions through Structural Funds

The aim of the thesis is to analyse and define how the Structural Funds can support competiveness of higher education institutions in the Czech Republic. The opening part provides a summary of the European Union Funds and the Operational Programme with emphasis on the Education for Competitiveness Operational Programme (ECOP) focused on improving the quality of and modernising systems of initial, tertiary and further education and improving the conditions in research and development. An analysis of concrete projects supported by the ECOP is introduced in the second part.

Nezaměstnanost jako sociální a ekonomický problém

The aim of this thesis to describe the subject of unemployment in the district of Svitavy, Pardubice region, from selected social and economic points of view. Furthermore it describes the National employment policy of the Czech Republic and its active realization, including currently proposed solutions of the unemployment. The thesis deeper specifies the tools of the Social services system and Unemployment support and passess judgement on using and misusing of these tools in the district of Svitavy. Except for comparing statistic data the thesis presents findings from own empiric research in the given area.

COMMUNICATION AS THE PART OF NURSING CARE

My final project was divided into two parts- theoretical and practical one. In the theoretical part I focused on the definition of communication itself as well as the communication in terms of nursing care. In the practical part I am dealing with the results of the socilogical research based on the questionnaire. I interviewed the nurses in the Rest centre in České Budějovice and Žďár nad Sázavou. I also worked with a great deal of interviews with the clients in these two institutions.

Fly-ash mobility in sandy material

Fly-ash migration in three sands of various particle size distributions and consequently various porosities was studied in the laboratory. The fly-ash was applied on the top of all sands packed in plastic cylinders followed by pulse infiltrations. Water regime was monitored using the soil water content sensors SM200 and micro-tensometers T5. Kappameter SM400 was used to monitor migration of ferrimagnetic particles-tracers presented in the fly-ash. Undisturbed samples of sands polluted by fly-ash were taken at the end of the experiments to study final fly-ash distribution in section planes and thin sections of sandy material.

Clustering methods for large datasets

S rostoucím množstvím shromažďovaných a ukládaných dat vzniká potřeba shlukovacích metod, které by se dokázaly vypořádat i s rozsáhlými datovými soubory. Proto se objevuje množství nových algoritmů, vycházejících jak ze statistických přístupů, tak i z oblasti strojového učení. Cílem této diplomové práce je stručně představit dostupné metody shlukové analýzy a zhodnotit jejich silné a slabé stránky při analýze velkých souborů. Obsahem teoretické části je shrnutí základních pojmů a principů, které jsou všem metodám společné, a popisu nejznámějších metod shlukové analýzy. Ten obsahuje stručné vysvětlení, na jakém principu fungují a jaké výhody nebo případné nedostatky můžeme při jejich použití očekávat. Praktická část práce je věnována vlastnímu testování osmi metod dostupných v komerčním (SPSS, S-PLUS, STATISTICA) nebo akademickém (Weka) softwaru. Pro testování jsou použity umělé soubory se specifickými charakteristikami, které jsem vygeneroval pomocí vlastního algoritmu. Ten je rozšířením Neyman-Scottova procesu a kromě sférických shluků generuje i shluky nepravidelných tvarů. Výsledky potvrzují očekávání vycházející z teoretických předpokladů. Přinášejí však možnost kvantifikace vlivu charakteru dat na vhodnost jednotlivých metod.
