Fiala, Jakub ; Nespěšný, Ondřej (referee) ; Pěnčík, Jan (advisor)
Goal of this bachelor thesis is creation of a project documentation of an apartment building in Žďár nad Sázavou. Chosen location is in a newly constructed side of the city called Starý dvůr nearby the city center. The area is appointed for housing. This apartment building is designed with one underground floor and four regular floors. The foundation is made of concrete strips. The traverse wall system is composed of brick blocks and the ceiling is made from reinforced concrete. The ventilated facade is insulated with the ETICS system. The roof is designed as a single-layer extensive green flat roof. In the cellar a technical room and storage cubicles are located. A barrier free entrance to the first ground is from the parking lot in the northern side of the building. There are overall ten apartments. Most of the apartments comprise balcony or terrace. Around the building is designed roomy garden with a gazebo and kids playground.
Recording Studio with Accomodation
Fiala, Jakub ; Pilný, Ondřej (referee) ; Kalousek, Lubor (advisor)
The main aim of this master’s thesis is to design a recording studio in a place of an abandoned agricultural building in a small village called Radešín. The thesis is structured into three parts. Goal of the first part is creation of a design documentation of architectural and structural designs. The building will consist of two storeys, a cellar and a gable roof. The most used building material will be reinforced concrete. Recording studio will offer three recording rooms accompanied by a large control room. Accommodation will include five apartments for ten inhabitants and a common room with kitchen. The second part is focused on design of selected building services. The building will be equipped with an air-to-water heat pump and wood chip boiler for heating. A mechanical ventilation with heat recovery will provide fresh air. Heat pump will also work as a cooling source. Furthermore, designs of the rainwater treatment, water heating, lightning and photovoltaics on the roof are included. The third part revolves around the matter of room acoustics. It describes basic knowledge and terminology of this field, which are then used to solve reverberation. I dealt with three variants – initial state, state with additional dampening and state with additional dampening with movable acoustic panels. One calculation was made in Microsoft Excel, the other one with help of room simulation in Odeon. Finally, I compared these two methods.

Quantified Self
Fiala, Jakub ; Souček, Jiří (advisor) ; Slussareff, Michaela (referee) ; Lokaj, Zdeněk (referee)
The objective of this dissertation was to examine the impact of self-measurement technology on tracking physical activity (number of steps taken) in users' practice through exploratory qualitative research. The study was carried out on 11 university students, consisting of 6 male and 5 female participants, aged between 20 and 28 years. A quasi-experimental design and a Fitbit Zip self-measurement device were utilised; no randomisation of participants into the intervention group was implemented, and no control group was included in the research design. The NEO PI- 3 questionnaire was administered to measure the participants' personality traits. The findings furnish an initial qualitative understanding of the topic and indicate promising avenues for further examination. The impact of our intervention on participants' physical activity was not consistent, as some experienced an augmentation while others observed a reduction. Conclusions were drawn for only 5 participants. However, a variance comparison revealed distinct changes in physical activity patterns for each participant. The variability will probably be more pronounced in a larger sample. The majority of participants attributed at least a temporary influence on their behaviour to the device. Specifically, 8 out of the 11 participants were...
Comparative analysis of published projects Show & Tell on Quantified Self website
Kroupová, Lenka ; Fiala, Jakub (advisor) ; Sedláček, Jakub (referee)
The subject of this bachelor's thesis are Show & Tell presentations of projects published on the Quantified Self movement website. These presentations are about personal self-tracking projects of the members of the Quantified Self movement. The thesis focuses on the selection of the method of self-tracking and the satisfaction with the selected method. The aim of this thesis is to determine, whether the authors of the projects were satisfied with the first chosen method of self- tracking and if they were not, what were the reasons for their dissatisfaction. In the theoretical part, self-tracking, technologies used for self-tracking and motivation for self-tracking is being shortly introduced. Furthermore, this part presents the Quantified Self movement, with focus on the members and their Show & Tell projects. In the part of the research are presented the results of the comparative analysis of the chosen Show & Tell projects. There are summarized common traits of projects of which authors were satisfied with the first chosen method of self-tracking. The reasons and the causes of dissatisfaction are being discused with the help of specific cases in the scope of the projects chosen for this thesis.
Monitoring of Sleep Using Applications Available on a Smartphone
Šourková, Denisa ; Fiala, Jakub (advisor) ; Lipková, Helena (referee)
The bachelor thesis discusses sleep monitoring using applications available on a platform of mobile devices with the operating system iOS. In the theoretical part, the author describes non-medical methods in the quality of sleep monitoring and the term sleep-tracking is also defined. Furthermore, this work introduces some limits to self-tracking. The empirical part of the thesis is based on author's own documented results. In the research, some applications with sleep monitoring functions are tested. Firstly, the main interest is oriented toward the properties of these applications. Secondly, the thesis examines specific functions, data, or their validity. The data are gained from continual testing of the mobile applications. The main target is to critically evaluate of these applications and assess whether the evaluated information can be somehow beneficial to the user. Keywords sleep, sleep monitoring, sleep-tracking, sleep quality, application, smartphone, iOS
Augmented reality in libraries
Krejzlová, Lucie ; Drobíková, Barbora (advisor) ; Fiala, Jakub (referee)
The main focus of this thesis is augmented reality and its usage and improvement of provided services in libraries and other information institutions. First, the concept of augmented reality and its possible implementation based on various technologies are defined. Then augmented reality projects already implemented in libraries and information institutions are presented. The next part consists of a description of areas in which augmented reality can be used to improve services provided in the context of libraries. The goal of the practical part is the preparation and testing of a prototype of augmented reality application in National technical library. Finally, the strengths and weaknesses of the prototype are presented as well as requirements for its actual implementation and possibilities of future improvement of the prototype's capabilities.
