Bolgár, Robert ; Drápela, Jiří (referee) ; Topolánek, David (advisor)
This paper deals with possible ways of voltage regulation. Theoretical part includes a search of published methods and the available voltage regulators. Acquired theoretical knowledge has been applied in the development of mathematical models of two selected controllers applied to the testing network. The result of this work is a summary of the outcomes of dynamic simulations with two selected regulators at various locations in testing network. Comparing the results of dynamic simulation for two selected states was chosen the most appropriate regulator and its optimal location in testing network.
Verification of the Vdip method on the physical model of the MV network
Krčál, Vít ; Drápela, Jiří (referee) ; Topolánek, David (advisor)
This Master's thesis is focused on creating of an algorithm which calculates changes of negative-sequence voltages and currents from their instantaneous values. That allows to conduct localization of asymmetrical faults in MV network in line with the Vdip method, which is based on monitoring the changes of negative-sequence components at distribution substations and at a sub-transmission station. The algorithm is being developed in Matlab environment with continuous implementation of partial procedures which are being assessed and compared with each other. A study of phasor estimating methods is carried out with pointing out related problems which are mainly caused by Ripple control and deviation of system frequency from its nominal value. Optimization precautions are designed to mitigate these problems. For elimination of the Ripple control effects a method based on averaging is presented. The deviation of system frequency is dealt with by resampling the original data recordings. The analysis processes are tested by both simulation signals and real measured data. The optimized algorithm enables precise calculation of negative-sequence components changes which is the main contribution of this thesis. The constructed algorithm is used in verification of the Vdip method on physical model of MV network. For these purposes a simple distribution network is created within which ground faults on different places and with different resistances are realised. The results of localization are not convincing which is mainly caused by specific features of laboratory power line models which are constructed with heterogenous parameters.

Gaborčík, Michal ; Drápela, Jiří (referee) ; Topolánek, David (advisor)
This master’s thesis deals with realization of fault recorder designed for a distribution transformer station. In theoretical part is created research about operation of distribution transformer stations and about analytic methods, which gives bases for fault detection in power network. The practical part consists of design and realization of fault recorder in LabVIEW interface using CompactDAQ measurement platform. Purpose of this recorder is monitoring and recording of voltage and current waveforms on secondary side of transformer station during the fault in high voltage network. Principle of fault detection is primarily based on level monitoring of voltage negative symmetrical component. Fault recorder has been successively optimized and the final version is presented in this thesis. At the end functionality of designed system is evaluated on simulated fault in a model of high voltage network.

The diploma thesis deals with conventional transformers and current and voltage sensors. The first half of thesis describes mainly the basic concepts and accuracy classes of these converters used in electrical substations. The emphasis is given primarily on the differences. In the second half of thesis is presented an exact type of converters, which are installed in the substation Medlánky. There is an analysis of measured data from long – term monitoring from this substation and comparing the results from conventional transformers compared to the results from more modern sensors.

The Appliances Immunity to Short Voltage Dips and Interruptions
Bok, Jaromír ; Beláň, Anton (referee) ; Santarius, Pavel (referee) ; Drápela, Jiří (advisor)
This Ph.D. thesis deals with problems about voltage dips and short voltage interruptions, generally named as voltage events, which origin in power supply networks and have a negative influence for all connected electric appliances. In this thesis single phase appliances are considered. These problems closely relate with area of electromagnetic compatibility which solve all questions about correct operation of different types of electric appliances during electromagnetic disturbances impact. Voltage events are ones of the many types of electromagnetic disturbances. The connection between disturbance sources and sensitive electric appliances is created by power supply lines. The immunity of electric appliances to voltage dips and short interruptions is currently tested via voltage dips with strictly defined parameters which are intended by class of electromagnetic environment in which the usage of electric appliance is recommended. During immunity tests the rectangular shape of voltage dips is preferred. The main descriptive parameters of testing voltage events are the residual voltage and the event time duration. But voltage dips and short interruptions defined by this way do not closely relate with parameters of real voltage dips and interruptions occurred in public supply system where parameters of voltage dips are variable. Moreover in the power supply system there are many of others voltage parameters which can have a significant influence to immunity level of connected electric appliances. This Ph.D. thesis also deals with finding more voltage event parameters. Although the voltage events occurrence in the power supply system is not limited and voltage events are considered only as informative voltage parameter it is important to monitor voltage events occurrence. The monitoring device has to be able to operate for ling time period and it has to detect parameters of voltage events with adequate accuracy. The accuracy of detected event parameters and the detection delay depends on the detection algorithm characteristics. That is why the part of this thesis relates with a comparison of several detection algorithms and their abilities to correct detection of voltage event parameters. The main purpose of this thesis is the proposal of connection between classification of voltage dips and short interruptions occurred in power supply system with the classification of electric appliances immunity to these voltage events. On the base of many of provided electric appliances immunity tests and also on the base of long time period voltage events monitoring the special compatibility levels are proposed in this thesis. The observation of proposed compatibility levels will bring the increasing level of reliable operation of all connected electric appliances.
