THE HISTORY OF PHARMACY IN THE REGION OF VELKÉ MEZŘIČÍ AND IN TŘEBÍČ Thesis target: To capture the dominant features of the historical development of pharmacy in a defined part of the Vysočina Region including the town of Třebíč and the area of the former judicial district of Velké Meziříčí. Methods: The historical development of pharmacies is traced in connection with the historical development of the entire region. It is evaluated and dealt with in connection with main historical milestones in health care. The thesis captures chronological characterization of pharmacies and tries to give a complete overview of the ownership and staff. At the same time, it focuses on collecting of documents in question. Results: The history of the oldest pharmacy in the region of Velké Meziříčí comes back to the 16th century. The pharmacy "U Černého orla" was the only pharmacy in Velké Meziříčí until 1993. There were two pharmacies established during socialist era - first in Křižanov in 1952 and the next year in Měřín. History of Pharmacy Practice in the Prague Hospital " Na Františku" Student: Severinová Lenka Tutor: Doc. PhDr. Dohnal František, CSc. Social and Clinical Pharmacy Department Pharmaceutical Fakulty in Hradec Králové The Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic Subject of my thesis: Historical development of the pharmaceutical work in the hospital Na Františku in Prague. Aim: To describe the history of the pharmacy and its activities from the start until today. Methods: Elaborating historical documents from the National Archive in Prague, the Czech Pharmaceutical Museum in Kuks, the Prague City Museum, the City Library of Prague, interviews with contemporaries and other thesis. Results: The history of the pharmaceutical work in the hospital Na Františku is connected especially with the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God, who came to Prague after the battle of the White Mountain in December 1620. The pharmacy was probably grounded in 1624. Since that time, the pharmacy had been working without a break until 1941 when it was converted into a German military hospital. It was in 1945 when the pharmacy was renewed again. In the beginning of 1950 it was nationalized and became a part of a state company Medika. Historical Evolution of Pharmacy Practice in Selected Localities of the Svitavy Region

Name: Historical Evolution of Pharmacy Practice in Selected Localities of the Svitavy Region Objective: Mapping the historical events of pharmacies in the towns Svitavy, Polička, Moravská Třebová and Březová nad Svitavou from its begginings to the present. Thesis is oriented to chronological overview of particular pharmacies and their staff. The final part of thesis deals with changes from 1989 until today. Methodology: The following sources provided me basic orientation in the research: textbooks, monographic materials on the history of pharmacy, historical publications of particular cities and healthcare, printed sources of archivals from the Czech Phar- maceutical Museum in Kuks. Very important role in the research had interviews with witnesses, questionaries for pharmacy owners (or representatives) and study of sources from internet. Results: Svitavy have pharmacy since 1519. Second pharmacy in the town has been established in 1910. After the Second World War was second pharmacy closed. Social and Clinical Pharmacy Department Pharmaceutical Faculty in Hradec Králové The Charles University in Praque, Czech Republic Theme: History and developement of the pharmaceutical service in the cities of Pelhřimov and Humpolec throughout the history. Objective: Survey of the history of pharmacies and pharmacists in two cities of the district of Vysočina - Pelhřimov and Humpolec - since time immemorial to the present. Methods: Processing the historical written recources obtained from the Czech Pharmaceutical Museum in Kuks, Town museum in Pelhřimov, Town library in Pelhřimov, the materials of the district corporation of the pharmacists and interviews with contemporaries. Results: The first pharmacy in this area had been established probably in the 17th century. The first written remarks are evaible from 1873 and they are dřeply wedded with name Jan Křtitel Fried. Until 1918 there are two pharmacies in Pelhřimov and Humpolec, each town had one pharmacy. In the years 1918 to 1948 the next pharmacies - in Pelhřimov "U Slovanské lípy" and in Humpolec "Nová lékárna" - had been opened. Products of Black Eagle Pharmacy at Malá Strana district of Prague

Eva Stupková Supervisor: PharmDr. Jan Babica, Ph.D. Title of rigorosum thesis: Products of Black Eagle Pharmacy at Malá Strana district of Prague This thesis is focused on products of Black Eagle Pharmacy in years 1857-1930. Throughout these years subsequently Benjamin, Karel and Jiří Fragner were the head pharmacists. The pharmacy offered many products in various forms (the oldest ones include Prague Universal Household Ointment or Dr. Rosa's Balsam). At the beginning of the 20th century the range of goods was even wider. The pharmacy produced medi- cinal products (such as Buccavacedrol, Galegol, etc.) as well as dairy products, sweets and other goodies. In the 20's the variety of products increased to such a degree that the production had to be moved to a B. Fragner factory in Dolní Měcholupy. Some of the medicinal products were still made by the end of 20th century (Jopton, Guanar, Hysteps, etc.). In some instances the name has changed but the contents remained close to the original up to this day (Thymomel). Core of this thesis is a chronologically ordered list of products.
