Application of managerial activities: cases of basketball teams of different age categories

Title: Application of managerial activities: cases of basketball teams of different age categories Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to find out how the coaches of non-professional basketball deal with selected managerial activities and then compare how the application of these selected activities differs across age categories - from the youngest to adults. Methods: In this thesis was used comparison method, as well as the interview method and the questionnaire method. The method of comparation was used to compare the use of selected managerial activities across age categories and how individual coaches work with them. Data for comparation were obtained through personal or online semi-structured interviews with six basketball coaches of individual categories. The generalization of responses was achieved through an electronic questionnaire targeting all female non-professional basketball coaches of selected age categories and with its questions it fills in or founds out facts that followed on from the information obtained in the interviews. Evaluation of the organization of a chosen sport event

Title: Evaluation of a selected sport event - The European U18 Baseball Championship Objectives: The objective of this master thesis is to present the strengths and weaknesses of the organization of the European Junior Baseball Championships (European U18 Championship) held in August 2022. Furthermore, based on the information gathered from interviews, observations and participant surveys, to identify opportunities proposing implementation, as well as to identify threats and proposing their elimination for the future organization of tournaments in the Czech Republic. Methods: The master thesis uses three research methods (semi-structured interviews, participant observation, questionnaire survey) and one analytical method (SWOT analysis). The views of the participants of the event are gathered through an electronic questionnaire sent to the emails of all participants of the U18 European Championship in 2022. The organizers' views on the preparations and the course of the tournament are obtained through semi-structured interviews conducted with two members of the Czech Baseball Association's organizing team. Social media marketing trends and their use in creating an advertising campaign for the brand Czech Surfers

Title: Social media marketing trends and their use in creating an advertising campaign for the brand Czech Surfers Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to identify current social media marketing trends through the analysis of secondary data and then describe these trends in more detail so that they can be used in the creation of the advertising campaign Czech Surfers. Methods: To identify these social media marketing trends, the work uses content analysis of 40 papers. These papers are evenly distributed across the research period from January 2020 to November 2021. The following studies and broader trend specifications are conducted in a case study, which describes the 12 most important social media marketing trends in more detail. Results: The results of the research show that the 12 trends identified are highly interconnected. At the same time, it turned out (with two exceptions) the defined trends are applicable to all social media platforms examined, such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok. Title: Management of the international sport event in softball at the time of the covid pandemic Objectives: The goal of the study is to elaborate the specific measures and recommendations how to improve in future the management of the international softball events in the Czech Republic based on the management evaluation of the Junior Women's Softball European Championship U-18 and to point out the impacts of Covid-19 on the organization of the specific international event and to find out the effective answers to them for future. Name: Television coverage of women athletes during Olympic Games Goal: The main goal of this thesis is to summarize the television broadcasts of the Czech and Finnish public service broadcasters of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, primarily from the perspective of gender balance. Further goal is to compare the broadcasts of both broadcasters. Methods: The methods of analysis and comparison were used in this paper. The method of analysis was applied in the analysis of individual broadcasting days, in which the time devoted to each sport and gender was calculated and the type of broadcast was recorded. The method of comparison was then applied when comparing the estimated proportion of the time women were given in the broadcast with the time actually given to them. The same method was also used when comparing the Czech and Finnish broadcasts of the Tokyo 2022 Olympic Games. Results: On the basis of the processed data, it was found that the broadcast balance can be evaluated in several ways and depending on the method of its calculation it is even possible to reach opposite conclusions. The influence of migration of Czech basketball players on their career

Title: The influence of migration of Czech basketball players on their career Objectives: The main aim of this diploma thesis is to find out if a migration of young Czech basketball players is proper for their future career. Methods: The first method, that was used in this work, is a quantitative method - analysing the secondary data. These data were collected from the websites eurobasket.com, cz.basketball, proballers.com and cbf.cz. Before the analyses, there was defined a selection aggregate of players, who are included to the analyses. The selection aggregate contains the players, that leaved Czech Republic during a period of years 2010- 2020, before they had been 25 years old, and their departure was their first one. After the first phase of analysis, there were found out 82 players that this selection aggregate contains. These players were evaluated by three factors of success (a length of their top- level career, a length of their top-level international career and a quality of the leagues, where these players were playing). Instagram of selected basketball clubs

Title: Instagram of selected basketball teams Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to make the recommedation for selected czech profesional basketball teams. The recommendation will cover communication and Instagram content. Then all the recommendations will help both basketball teams and other sports associations. Methods: In this bachelor thesis the method of quantitative and qualitative data research is used. In the first stage, a quantitative method is used in the form of analysis of Instagram accounts of four selected basketball teams. This is followed by a qualitative method which is conducted using a focus group with eight basketball fans who were selected by the teams based on set criteria. Results: The analyses conducted show that basketball teams acting in the same NBL competition are not on the same level within the Instagram social network and there are significant differences between them. As a result, 2 out of 4 clubs maintain a high-level Instagram account. In the second case, there is a lack of communication with fans, consistency and consequently diversity of content. Title: Comparison of sports systems in the Czech Republic and Finland Objectives: The main goal of the thesis is to compare sports systems in the Czech Republic and Finland based on eight specified aspects. Methods: Analysis of secondary documents, primarily documents issued by ministries and sports associations, and the comparative method were the two main methods used for the thesis. Results: The thesis revealed significant differences between the sports systems in the Czech Republic and Finland. The differences were found primarily in budget allocation, talent development and sports funding. The Finnish sports system is more advanced in most of the analysed aspects. The influence of sport migration on Czech volleyball

Title: The influence of sport migration on Czech volleyball Objectives: The aim of this diploma thesis is to use statistical analysis to examine the dependency between number of foreign players operating in Czech volleyball clubs and the achieved winning percentage in the basic part of the Czech extra league for the seasons 2010/11 to 2021/22. Furthermore, the dependence between the number of Czech representatives playing abroad and the performance of the men's national team at international competitions was statistically analyzed. The obtained results are then compared with the results of in-depth interviews with selected players and coaches, who help explain the findings and provide additional information from practice. Methods: The work contains a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods in the order of sequential triangulation. The first method deals with finding the tightness and type of statistical dependence through the Spearman correlation coefficient. The second method concerns conducting semi-structured in-depth interviews, according to an outline created on the basis of statistical results. Sponsorship of the Czech handball club

Title: Sponsorship of the Czech handball club Objectives: The main objective of this diploma thesis is to create a sponsorship package to address and potentially gain the general sponsor of the Czech handball club TJ Sokol Nové Veselí. Methods: In this diploma thesis, qualitative methods are used - analysis of texts, documents, websites and social networks. Furthermore, a semi-structured interview was conducted with the vice-president of the club. Semi- structured interviews were also conducted with representatives of selected companies. Results: An analysis of the current situation and the interviews showed that the club does not currently have a comprehensive sponsorship package. Communication with sponsors always took place individually on the basis of specific negotiations and a comprehensive form was lacking, which reduced the effectiveness of negotiations. For this reason, the first part of the work focuses on the analysis of the current situation, the possibilities and the offer of counter-services that the club can offer. Based on this, one basic package was created, as the interviews showed that this strategy is more effective for the club.
