Museum Marketing and Cultural Heritage Marketing: Jewish Museum in Prague in the 21st century

Bachelor thesis "Museum Marketing and Cultural Heritage Marketing: the Jewish Museum in Prague in the 21st century" deals with marketing activities and art marketing activities of the Jewish museum in Prague in the 21st century. The aim of the thesis is firstly evaluating the current art marketing communication of the museum using reference books and secondly giving a recommendation. The thesis guides through the history of the Jewish museum in Prague from the beginning in 1906 to the First and Second World War and communism to privatization. In the next chapter, marketing and commercial activities are introduced among 2001 and 2016. The third chapter's main topic is the art marketing concept along with its main principles and functions. The theory is contrasted with the practice. Afterwards, the recommendations are offered. The research showed that only Robert Guttmann's Galery (opened in 2001) and the Maisel synagogue (reconstructed 2014-2015) offer everything a good museum of the 21st century should offer. That means information boards, IT devices, enough seat places, suitable lighting and the right high of display cases. The conception of central Europe in Czech literary essays (illustrated with the works of Milan Kundera and Josef Kroutvor)

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the image of Central Europe in literary essays of Milan Kundera and Josef Kroutvor. The author analyses their selected essays (A Kidnapped West and The Troubles of Central Europe: anecdotes and history, among others) and shows, how these writers reflect on Central Europe and how they portray it in their work. The thesis also includes a theoretical part, which offers a brief introduction to the topic of Central Europe and to the essayistic genre.
The Biographical Author Works by Peter Sis in Media

This bachelor thesis maps the coverage of Peter Sis's two biographical author books in media. In particular, the Tree of Life and the Pilot and the Little Prince have been chosen. Firstly, the thesis focuses on the literary definition of these works, then outlines the life and artworks of the author. An interview with Petr Sís is also included and is theoretically explained in one of the chapters. This bachelor thesis introduces some important prizes in the field of books for children and youngsters, which the author has gained for his work. For example, the Hans Christian Andersen Award for lifetime achievement is mentioned there. The last chapter of this bachelor thesis focuses on the Tree of Life and the Pilot and the Little Prince and their media coverage. The results were achieved with the qualitative method of analysis. This thesis does not only focus on book reviews but also provides complete overview of media coverage of both mentioned books. Newton Media SEARCH and EBSCOhost electronic databases, magazines and newspapers in the National Library of the Czech Republic, web archives and reader's websites served to find the examined sample. Due to the fact that Peter Sis currently lives in the United States of America, the US media have been analyzed, too.
Media response to music artwork of Karel Kryl

The bachelor thesis Karel Kryl and media reception of his work aims to map the response to music creation and partly also to the poetry of Karel Kryl in contemporary journals. Besides the chapter containing media response, there is a part describing biography and creative production of Karel Kryl as well as the chapter that aims to cover the interpretation of the artworks. The results of this thesis were achieved by the qualitative analysis of media reception alike as other publications. Time frame of media response is copying the period of Kryl's artistic production - which means the period from 60's to his death in 1994.
Critical reflection of Jaroslav Rudiš initial literary creation in the czech media

The thesis aims to analyse a critical reflection of the early literary work of Jaroslav Rudiš in Czech media - in literary journals as well as daily press and news servers and literary servers. The thesis analyses novels Nebe pod Berlínem (2002), Grandhotel (2006) and Alois Nebel (collected in 2006). To present a truly comprehensive point of view, the theoretical part brings forward critical reflection of literary stage. It also describes the life and literary output of Jaroslav Rudiš and analyses author's writing style and self-presentation in public. In this context, the theoretical part works with the term of pop-literature and explains why we could consider Rudiš as an author of this kind of literature. An interview with Jaroslav Rudiš is included.
The reflection of Edvard Beneš in the Czechoslovakian Press in Selected Periods of 1948

The main objective of this thesis is to describe in which way the four selected press media (Rudé právo, Práce, Lidová demokracie and Svobodné slovo) reported on Edvard Beneš in the four periods of 1948 (the February Coup d'Etat, the approving of the Ninth-of-May Constitution, Beneš' abdication and seclusion, Beneš' death and funeral). There is the quantitative and qualitative analysis included in this thesis. The quantitative part focuses on the total number of articles on Edvard Beneš while the qualitative part refers to the way how the selected press media informed about the second Czechoslovak president. There shall be confirmed or disproved a theory whether the total number of articles on Edvard Beneš does not differ considerably in the selected media. Furthermore, it is researched whether the media of the democratic political parties (Lidová demokracie and Svobodné slovo) creates a different media image of Edvard Beneš in comparison to the media more closely linked to the Communist Party (Práce and Rudé právo). Last but not least, the focus is also on whether (and if so, how) the reporting on the second Czechoslovak president changed in the particular newspapers throughout the periods.
Media reception of cyberpunk literature (Egon Bondy, William Gibson, Neal Stephenson)

The aim of this work is to map critical reviews on significant cyberpunk novels by William Gibson, Neal Stephenson, and Egon Bondy, which are Neuromancer, Snowcrash, and Cybercomics. It also gives the cyberpunk genre in the historical and literary context. For this reason, we used quantitative comparative methods to analyze selected reviews from Czech and foreign periodicals. The international media coverage includes analysis from Anglo- Americanˈs mainstream newspapers (The New York Times, The Washington Post) and academical journals (Science Fiction Studies, etc.). From Czech reviews, we used newspapers MF Dnes, periodicals Respekt, Instinkt, Týden, Literární noviny and specialized magazines (anarchistic fanzine A-kontra, Ikarie). This work also contains the theoretical part, which focuses on the definition and history of this science fiction genre. Furthermore, we include the interpretation of novels. The result of bachelor thesis is different views from literary critics on this science fiction movement, in particular on the books Neuromancer, Snowcrash, and Cybercomics. It also shows the development of cyberpunk literature and different role of the genre in the Czech Republic. Media response to the Czech award-winning Literature for Children and Youth (2016)

This Bachelor Thesis is focused on analysis of media response to award-winning and award nominated literature for children and youth in 2016. Beside that it provides brief development of trends in publisher's acitivities since 90s to the present. It also describes problems of critical reflection in the area of literature for children and youth. Thesis studies media response to four books for children and youth, Vynálezárium by Robin Král, Klárka a 11 babiček by Olga Černá, Samota není zlej by Lucie Raškovová and Plop! Zdařilé verse a prózy by Ivan Wernisch. The opening part of this thesis determines the goal of this thesis, which is to answer the question how the media cover award-winning and award-nominated books for children and youth. It also determines hypothesis that literary awards Magnesia Litera Award and Golden Ribbon Award affect publicizing of these books. Analytic part then confirms this hypothesis. The book that won both Magnesia Litera and Golden Ribbon was covered the most. The magazine World Literature in the 60th 20th century.

This bachelor thesis concerns at content analysis of World Literature magazine in years 1960-1969, which was the era of enourmous development in this periodical and also in a culture of Czechoslovakia. Magazine World Literature is regarded in context of political and cultural dogmatism of regime after February 1948 and also in context of liberalization in 1960s. The work of the redaction of the magazine and its choise of translations and book reviews is analysed quantitatively and also qualitatively and compared with tendentions of State publisher of literatura, music and arts (Odeon) and also with influences of the official socialistic ideology. The main objective of this thesis is to find out what the influence of magazine World Literature was on publishing translations in context of historical and cultural conections in 1960s, especially focused on English and American literature.
Poetical work of J.H.Krchovský and it's critical response (1991-2011)

Bachelor thesis titled Poetical work of J. H. Krchovský and it's critical response (1991- 2011) aims to analyze the critical responses of the poet's collections published in selected periodicals in the period from 1991 to 2011. The approach of author's life and his literary style should lead to an understanding of the circumstances of his poetry, and thus to add a context to the published responses. The first part of the work serves to get to know the personality of J. H. Krchovský and to put his poetry into context of the underground period from which the poet came from. The author deals in detail with the poet's life, which makes it easier to understand the motifs that appear in his work. She interprets the poetic style and theme of his verses. At the end of the first part there are also individual collections that have been published since 1991 until the present. In the second part the author publishes a record from her own interview with J. H. Krchovský because she wants to achieve a greater understanding of the poet's extraordinary personality and his work. In the third part, the author comes to the analysis of critical responses.
