Involvement of the neuroimmune system in Alzheimer's disease
Chaloupková, Barbora ; Hejnová, Lucie (advisor) ; Vašek, Daniel (referee)
Alzheimer's disease afflicts more and more people with increasing life expectancy. The causes of this disease are still not fully understood and explained. An effective treatment is still lacking. One of the reasons is a lack of effective biomarkers of the disease in its early stages before the onset of cognitive deficits. Current research focuses on the neuroimmune system. Emerging evidence shows that changes in its function play a significant role in Alzheimer's disease. This bachelor's thesis describes the interaction of components of the neuroimmune system in the preclinical stages and progression of Alzheimer's disease, their use as biomarkers in the diagnosis of preclinical and clinical stages of AD, and subsequently their potential use in the therapeutic treatment of AD. Key words: Alzheimer's disease, neuroimmune system, neuroinflammation, therapeutic treatment, biomarkers

bakalářské práce AJ Author: Barbora Chaloupková Tutor: Bc. Monika Tichá Title: Use of selected concepts for active release of myofascial tissue Abstract: The theoretical part of the work first describes the morphology and physiology of fascial tissue, briefly describes the muscle tissue. Furthermore there are introduced and desribed selected concepts affecting myofascial tissues of the musculoskeletal system, which use the active participation of the patient in therapy. The theoretical part of the work includes the concept of Fascial release technique, the concept of Fascial fitness and methods of myofascial autotherapy. The practical part of the bachelor thesis evaluates the concept of Fascial release technique during physiotherapeutic intervention in two patients with pain in the dorsal part of the lower limbs of functional origin. The concept of Fascial release technique was evaluated according to the data from the input and output kinesiological analysis of the treated patients, subjectively evaluated by the patients through questionnaires and from the perspective of the therapist. By both patients, their difficulties in the monitored segments of the musculoskeletal system were alleviated. Active patient participation in therapy reduces the physical demands of myofascial therapies for the...
Globalization: From Unknown to Known? An Analysis of the Academic Debate about the Concept
Chaloupková, Barbora ; Fiřtová, Magdalena (advisor) ; Hornát, Jan (referee)
Globalization is a concept that manages to attract both academic and mainstream attention and it became an important reference point of many contemporary conversations. However, there is a surprisingly little genealogical research on globalization. This thesis seeks to contribute in this area by analyzing part of the overall academic debate about this concept from the year 1990 to 2012 and by reconstructing the debates and arguments through which the concept was shaped. It breaks the chosen time frame in two periods (1990-2000 and 2001-2012) and conducts a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the debate in four leading academic journals, each of them grounded in different discipline. The thesis finds that key reference points of the debates about globalization in both periods of the time were the terms market and state and the relationship between them. Globalization as a phenomenon that was said to alter the nature of this relationship posed a particular challenge to social science paradigms that operated with state-centered frameworks. The key dimension in which globalization was discussed the most was in both periods the economic one; however, we also saw a rise of social dimension in the second period indicating a shift in attention beyond the economics. Furthermore, this work finds that...
The Encounter with death as experience of children at primary
CHALOUPKOVÁ, Barbora
In my thesis I focus on the issue of death in relation to helping the bereaved, especial when they are children. I would like to show how children perceive the death of a loved one and how does this crisis situation project into their school life. As a College of Education student I am interested in how does this matter penetrate inside the school environment, whether it is included in the content of classwork and how is it accepted by the pupils. From my position of a starting teacher I would like to find out, by means of this thesis, whether there are any practices on how to treat a pupil who finds himself in this uneasy situation. This is a very timely topic, however it is often concealed and tabooed. From my point of view we should talk about death more, the topic of death should get more into the awareness of the pupils, because not only happy moment are a part of our lives, unfortunately there are also misery and sadness.
Analyzing the Kystone XL debate
Chaloupková, Barbora ; Fiřtová, Magdalena (advisor) ; Svoboda, Karel (referee)
This bachelor thesis examines the media debate over the possible construction of Keystone XL pipeline. In 2008 the Canadian company TransCanada submitted an application for presidential permit to construct the pipeline. Such permit was needed as the pipeline would be crossing the U.S. international border. In 2015 President Obama decided not to issue the permit. This thesis examines how was this topic debated in the two prestigious US newspapers The Washington Post and The New York Times. The research methodology that was chosen for this paper is content analysis. Unit of content is an article from abovementioned newspapers published between 2008 and 2015 that had the headword "Keystone XL" in its headline. The thesis relies on framing theory. It aims to identify the frames that dominated the debate and their main storylines. In its first part the paper defines the methodology and its theoretical framework; the second part examines the results of the content analysis and afterwards deals in depth with each of the frames. The three dominant frames were "environmental frame", "energy security frame" and "economic frame". Each frame is put into the broader context of the academic research dealing with the same topic.

CHALOUPKOVÁ, Barbora
This thesis focuses on banking sector and whether it is able to reduce and if it really reduces bank risks in the mortgage marketplace in conditions of fading economic crisis. It is known that banking business is influenced by events in real economy and these conditions form events on the credit market. The aim of this work is to evaluate bank risks relevance in the mortgage marketplace in the Czech Republic. In the thesis I have defined bank risks and ways of their reduction on the part of the bank. I have also outlined mortgage credit for a natural person, its legal background and conditions for providing it. In the practical part I deal with bank performance to a client while the bank provides the mortgage. In conclusion I have evaluated a situation in a certain area of the Czech Republic and in member countries of European Union. On the basis of international comparison I could then analyse bank risks relevance in the mortgage marketplace in the Czech republic.
