Subjective pereption of Quality of life of people after spinal injury

The thesis deals with the subjective perception of quality of life of persons that have suffered a spinal cord injury. The Theoretical part is devoted to the quality of life, its definitions, concepts, factors and measuring. Further, it focuses on spinal cord injuries and their consequences with regard to functionality of extremities and organs. It describes types of handicap, process and components of physical therapy. It also deals with psychological stress of a person dealing with the injury and its consequences. Focus is in particular applied to coping strategies and adaptation mechanisms. The third chapter of the Practical part is devoted to the quality of life of a specific target group, i.e. of persons that have suffered spinal cord injury. It introduces the factors and specific aspects contributing to the perception of quality of life. It also addresses some of the frequent mistakes and stereotypes in approaches to people with handicap. In the Empirical part, we have found out that people who suffered spinal cord injury perceive the lower level of quality of life in the area of health and relationships. The psychological aspects of hostage-taking

This bachelor thesis consists of a theoretical part, followed by research design. In the theoretical part, hostage-taking and its historical development is defined at first. Further, the main attention is paid to the psychological aspects of this phenomenon. Types of perpetrators' motivation, available typologies and methods of incident planning are described. This is followed by explanation of the crisis negotiation, personality dispositions of negotiators, psychologist's role in the negotiations and the impact of media on negotiations. Attention is then shifted to the victims of hostage-taking. The thesis describes the dynamics of their experience, the Stockholm syndrome and the impact of incidents on victims. Research design aims to create and verify the appropriateness of a screening method for estimating the risk of developing post-traumatic stress in victims of hostage-taking.
Psychosocial aspects in the profession of criminal investigator

In the research part the thesis analyses individual psychosocial aspects of a police investigator's profession. It largely concerns their specific knowledge, abilities, skills and personal characteristics. Special attention is drawn to the social and communication skills, which are used by investigators within most of their tasks. With regard to the demanding character of the profession, a chapter about stress and the burnout syndrome is also incorporated. The aim of the empirical part is to put forward a research design using Torrance Test of Creative Thinking and NEO Five-Factor Inventory, which would attempt to reveal a relationship between creativity, success, openness to new experience and diligence. It also focuses on the particularities, employment, importance and limitations of creativity in the profession of police investigators. Posttraumatic stress and posttraumatic growth in members of fire rescue service

Posttraumatic stress and posttraumatic growth in members of fire rescue service (Abstract) Firefighters often work under circumstances that endanger their lives or physical integrity and witness traumatic experiences of other people while managing effects of devastating emergency situations. As a result of this exposure they can suffer from trauma and stress related disorders. However, traumatic experiences may also offer potential for growth. This thesis is aimed at posttraumatic stress - symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and posttraumatic growth in members of fire rescue service. The main objective is widening of existing posttraumatic research in professional rescuers with findings from multinational sample of firefighters. Sample consisted of firefighters from Czech Republic (N=302) and six other European countries (N=2241). Study was carried out through questionnaire-based data gathering. Symptoms of posttraumatic stress were assessed via self-rating measure Impact of event scale - revised, posttraumatic growth via Posttraumatic growth inventory - short form. Psychological aspects of interviewing in criminal prosecution

1 Abstract The present work deals with interviews with the child witnesses and its results in the form of testimony. Mapping the developmental specifics of children relevant in the course of interrogation. We also offer an overview of specific procedures which take account of claims arising from working with this group of witnesses. The main emphasis is put on the method of cognitive interview created by Geiselman and Fisher (1992) and its possible use in children. The practical part is flush pays overview suitability of specific methods - cognitive interview for the purpose of the interview with preschoolers. The second level maps the development specific manifestations of children during the interview follows. By analyzing 20 interviews to identify specifics manifest both in the cognitive area, as well as in social skills and capture their concrete form. The subsequent step were testimonies by children assessed in terms of the methods used. On a given sample but it turned out qualitative and quantitative differences in content of the statement in the respective phases. Interaction investigator with selected participants of criminal proceedings and its impact on based recognition

(in English): The thesis "Interaction of police investigators with selected participants of criminal proceedings and its impact on recognition" is studies the interaction and communication of criminal proceeding participants and its influence on the quality of those proceedings on recognition. The theoretical part deals with criminal proceedings such as all the trial requirements and factors which affect police investigation. Rights and responsibilities of all participants of trials are defined. Furthermore, communication, its types and categories and -most of all -its impact on successful police interrogation is examined. We also mention interpersonal perception. In the theoretical part of the thesis a lot of attention is devoted to the personality of police investigators and to significant characteristics which form the foundation of police profession. In conclusion of the theoretical part we describe the aspects which control the investigation and potential offender recognition. The Freiburg Personality Inventory and its use in the prison population

The thesis aims to expand the possibilities for diagnosing sentenced persons by the Freiburg Personality Inventory, which appears to be in terms of penal custody as a useful tool. There is only one Slovak translation of this method from 1984 including standards for a population already existent state, its use is problematic past 20 years and unextended. In contrast, demand for updated diagnostic tools that are not too time-consuming and difficult to administrate, and which would also underwent scaling to a specific population sample, creates space for effective use of the FPI in penitentiary practice. The theoretical part contains introduction to the method, theoretical background and the basis of the FPI and its comparison with other instruments used for personality diagnostics, possibilities and limits of its use. At the same time it focuses on the specifics of the prison population, the description of the personality in terms of its structure and dynamics, and the possibility of diagnostics including the currently used diagnostic tools. It also includes a summary of intervention programs implemented in prisons of the Czech Republic. Reactivity and tolerence to frustration from the perspective of psychology for convicted criminal offenders

The thesis deals with reactivity in response to a frustrating situation for convicted offenders. The main issue in the theoretical element is reactivity; or rather the behaviour and manifestation of reactions in the moment when an individual gets into stressful situations, is impeded or blocked in achieving their target. The definition of frustration is an equally important area, which, in the thesis is initially described from the perspective of classic theorists, and then the various ways how we examine and diagnose frustration. The last and equally important chapter consists of the offender's personality, which is defined in the context of the aforementioned frustration and reactivity. The aim of the empirical component is to obtain quantitative data on the most frequent reactions among criminal offenders in the moment before they face the obstacle that is blocking their achievement of goals or satisfaction. The research sample was composed of 69 convicted criminal offenders from remand prisons Pankrác, Hradec Kralové and prison Plzeň. Criminal aggression and aggressiveness in children and juveniles

This bachelor thesis concentrates on child and adolescent criminal aggression and aggresiveness, especially on risk and protective factors of violent offending. Furtheremore, it presents studies that examine personality of juvenile violent offenders. Latter chapters present typical patterns of children and adolescents violent offending. The last chapter summarizes actual Czech and foreign findings about robberies and their juvenile and adult offenders. Based on the presented robbery findings, the purpose of the proposed research is to broaden and update our knowledge of adolescent robbery offenders via combined qualitative and quantitative research design.
