Design of a portable machine for machining large diameter pipes
Boháč, Josef ; Pavlík, Jan (referee) ; Tůma, Jiří (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the design of a portable machine for machining large diameter pipes. This thesis is divided into research, calculation, design, and construction parts. The introductory part is devoted to research in the field of joining large diameter pipes, with a focus on flanged and welded joints. Based on the findings from the research part, several construction solutions were considered. In the next part, the most suitable design solution was selected using a multicriteria analysis technique and subsequently elaborated on in detail. The following chapter deals with the calculation of maximal cutting forces and the selection of motor. An air motor was chosen as the most suitable option for the proposed machine. This part is followed by the computational part, which includes strength calculations for the critical parts of the machine. The final part of the thesis is devoted to the construction itself and the description of the individual construction nodes of the machine. The thesis also includes a 3D model, drawings of selected parts, and an assembly drawing.
Grade-separated Interchange of Highways I/35 and I/46 in Olomouc city
Stejskal, Filip ; Boháč, Jiří (referee) ; Všetečka, Martin (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with designing a grade-separated interchange of highways no. I/35 and no. I/46 in Olomouc. This is a grade-separated crossing of two four-banded roads. Some concepts were designed from which a shape modified turbo-roundabout, known as a „dog-bone“, was selected. Futhermore a proposal for a signal plan and capacity assessments of the light controlled intersection were submitted.
Design of CNC lathe broaching head
Boháč, Josef ; Knoflíček, Radek (referee) ; Tůma, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the design of construction of broaching head for CNC lathe. This thesis is divided into research part, computational and construction part. The research part is dealing with the CNC lathes and tools with focus on the BMT and VDI tool turrets. Based on the outputs from the research, design parameters and suitable construction solution was chosen. The chosen construction solution uses the crank mechanism. This part is followed by the computational part which includes strength calculations of construction parts and other parameters such as cutting force. The last part is dealing with the construction of the broaching head itself. This thesis also includes a 3D model, drawings of selected parts and an assembly drawing.

Bachelor thesis aims to evaluate the performance requirements of the applicable legislation for safety and health protection at work in a particular company. It creates registry of legal requirements by activities in the company. Parses the current state of the organization and evaluates the degree of compliance with legal requirements. It contains suggestions for improvements.
Laboratory research on stiffness of unsaturated soil in very small and small strain region
Mohyla, Tomáš ; Boháč, Jan (advisor) ; Herle, Ivo (referee) ; Panuška, Jakub (referee)
Unsaturated soils have come into focus of the geotechnical community in recent decades. They are commonly found in the interaction of structures with the geological environment. Laboratory tests are important to provide information on the behaviour of unsaturated soils and as a fundamental input for the design of engineering structures. Laboratory tests can also be used to design and calibrate numerical models describing the behaviour of unsaturated soils. One of the important input parameters of such models is the initial stiffness of the soil and its decrease with increasing strain. This thesis deals with a laboratory investigation of the stiffness of unsaturated soil in the regions of very small and small strains. The tested soil was a loess from the quarry near the village of Horky nad Jizerou, Central Bohemia, which represents a typical soil found in engineering practice. The soil was reconstituted for the purpose of laboratory tests. The maximum (initial) stiffness of the soil was determined from measurements using piezoelectric bender elements and the stiffness decay curves were measured using local strain transducers (LVDTs). The laboratory tests were carried out in a double-walled triaxial cell for unsaturated soils, mounted with a high air-entry value ceramic disc (HAEV). The triaxial...

Methods of translating Hungarian fiction in 1945-2006
Boháč, Jakub ; Kolmanová, Simona (advisor) ; Schreierová, Angelika (referee)
The objective ofthis thesis is to define the prevailing method oftranslating Hungarian fiction into Czech between 1945 and 2006. The theoretical part of the thesis is based on the thinking of leading translation theorists, mainly Jiří Levý, and other Czech, Slovak and intemational theoreticians whose approach to translation methods is not prescriptive. In the first part of the thesis, we give an overview of translation methods. In the second part, we offer an explanation of how we conducted our research into the actual translation method in the given period, and pro vide a description of the results obtained on a sample of 40 translations. With regard to the research methods, we discuss the prevailing method of translating the prose, poetry and drama separately. First, we exemplifY the results on individual aspects of translated texts, then summarize them and offer an extensive insight into the method of translating the particular genres of literature. With the translation method being a need for compromise, the thesis is an attempt to give a comprehensive view of translating fiction and to identifY the most frequently repeated solutions to translation problems.
Collapsible soils in the Czech Republic
Novák, Vojtěch ; Boháč, Jan (advisor) ; Kostkanová, Vladislava (referee)
The present thesis deals with potentially collapsible soils in the Czech Republic. Collapsibility is one of the dangerous phenomena of soils and in some cases it causes extreme deformation of structures. Hydrocollapse may happen especially at quaternary sediments - loess and in the made ground - spoilheaps. Loess is present at a large part of the Czech Republic and the risk of collapsibility may therefore be considerable. First, in the state of the art an overview of soil collapsibility is provided and the regions where the collapsible soils are present are identified. The main part of the thesis deals with the evaluation of the collapse potential and assessing the degree of collapsibility. It is concluded that in the Czech Republic only slight to moderate degree of collapsibility should be expected in natural soils. With respect to the made ground the fresh lumpy clay fills may exhibit a substantial degree of collapsibility if the macro-voids (high intergranular porosity) are retained until sudden saturating. Finally the possible methods of soil improvement to minimise the collapsibility of loess deposits are briefly summarised.
Thickness of overburden and overconsolidation of Brno Clay
Pavlová, Martina ; Boháč, Jan (advisor) ; Mašín, David (referee)
Knowledge of the thickness of the overburden of sediments is important in tackling different geological and geotechnical issues. This Bachelor Thesis deals with the available methods for determining the original overburden thickness and with the possible errors from the point of view of the soil mechanics. The area of interest is the northern part of the Vienna Basin, in the vicinity of the town of Brno. The sediments in question are Miocene clays, known locally as Brno Tegel. Consequently the Thesis includes also a brief description of the geological origin of the Carpathian Foredeep.
Remedy of shallow slope slides by vegetation - using 'live poles'
Dašková, Barbora ; Boháč, Jan (advisor) ; Kudrna, Zdeněk (referee)
Slope instabilities (landslides) means hazard not only for structures, but also for human lives. This work describes one of the possible bioengineering methods which could prevent slope instability. The technique is called "Live Pole". It is an effectively, ecologically and economically undemanding method. However essential is the right choice of the plant species for the given site. Live Poles have a very positive influence on soil. Even with a small amount of roots the soil stability improves due to shear strength and dilatation increase anddue to root tensile effect. Also the amount of water in the soil decreases. The thesis also describes the use of "Live Pole" for the temperate zone and tropics (concretely for Malaysia). Keywords: Live Pole, slope stability, vegetation
