Iron metabolism in cancer cells
Beranová, Lea Marie ; Truksa, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Čermák, Vladimír (referee)
1Abstract: Cancer is one of the major causes of death in the present world. As the research of this disease has progressed, the attention of some scientists has been focused on a metabolism of iron and how it can be used to fight these rapidly proliferating invasive cells and stop their spreading. This work should serve as a brief review of iron metabolic processes from the iron absorption from dietary resources and recycled cell iron, to its usage in heme- or Fe/S clusters-proteins and storage in a form of ferritin, while highlighting the points that differ in cancer cells. It also gives a modest overview on the regulatory pathways of iron uptake and use, and mentions iron metabolism disorders such as iron-depletion and overload. Simultaneously it is denoting possible differences that could be targeted in tumor treatment, and, at least but not last, the perspectives and future work that could bring a new methods and approaches to this matter. Keywords: iron metabolism, iron, cancer, hepcidin
Role of sulfhydryl oxidase 1 in cancerogenesis
Beranová, Lea Marie ; Truksa, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Šuťák, Róbert (referee)
Disulfide bridges play a significant role in protein-folding as well as en- zyme activity and thus regulate many intra- and extracellular processes. Sulfhydryl oxidase QSOX1 forms S-S bridges de novo, modulating the activity of its substrates and thus directly or indirectly influences vital cel- lular processes. The first part of this thesis focuses on characterization of the role of QSOX1 in cancerogenesis, using breast cancer cell lines (MCF7, MDA-MB-231) and pancreatic cancer cell line (Panc-1), while the second part emphasizes the regulation of QSOX1 expression by different oxygen concentrations. To study the effect of QSOX1 on proliferation of triple-negative cancer cells MDA-MB-231, two genetically modified cell lines - QSOX1-overexpressing and QSOX1 knockout cell lines - were constructed. While increased QSOX1 protein levels do not have a significant effect, the absence of QSOX1 leads to a decreased cellular growth. Lack of QSOX1 also results in visible change in cellular morphology. QSOX1 knockout cells can be mostly characterized as more round-shaped with less noticeable or completely missing lamellipo- dia. This finding is with agreement with to-date literature suggesting that QSOX1 is important not only for cellular proliferation but also for migration and invasiveness. While authenticating the theory of...
Case Study of Physiotherapy Treatment of a Patient with the Low Back Pain with Relation to Another Problems in Motor System
Alberman, Stav ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Beranová, Marie (referee)
Title: Case Study of Physiotherapy Treatment of a Patient with the Low Back Pain with Relation to Another Problems in Motor System Aims: The purpose of the thesis is to provide informative content about the low back, pain in this region, and its effect on other parts of the motor system, including theoretical solutions; This followed by a case study which deal with the mentioned problems above, with a presentation of practical treatment and its results. Methods: The thesis divided into two main parts, begins with general part which provides information about the lumbar spine, etiology that may lead to pain in this region, information about the locomotor system and its stability, and the implications of low back pain on the locomotor system. Likewise, physiotherapeutic theoretical solutions are suggested. The second part present a case study that deal with low back pain from different etiology, related to issues in the motor system. This part contains initial kinesiology examination, therapy goals, 10 detailed days of day to day therapy sessions. Therapy includes, among others, postural correction, muscle imbalance correction by muscles strengthening, stretching, and relaxation by post isometric relaxation technique (PIR); Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) approach exercises according prof....

Foreign policy as internal political topic: example of Bolivia
Seifertová, Zuzana ; Němec, Jan (advisor) ; Beranová, Marie (referee)
The main topic of the diploma thesis is the foreign policy of Evo Morales in Bolivia between the years 2005 and 2016 and its relation to political development of the country. The thesis consists of the analysis of foreign policy, but also the causes and development of the left turns in Latin America. Additionally, the thesis includes the historic excursion and the study of the political regime after Morales and MAS assumed the power. The main research question is asking whether the goal of the foreign rhetoric and policy of Evo Morales is aiming to strengthen his position in the country and also in the leftist block. The methodology is based in the analysis of Evo ´s governance in the context of left turns in Latin America and mainly the research about the international relations during his governance. The link between his foreign policy and strengthening of the power position of the Bolivian president is examined by the text analysis of the president´s speeches, which is a suitable method to test the frequency of topics that include foreign policy.
The influence of peronism on the foreign policy of Argentina
Červenková, Eliška ; Němec, Jan (advisor) ; Beranová, Marie (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the foreign policy of peronist presidents of Argentina to evaluate the influence of peronist movement on its creation. The chosen presidents are Juan Domingo Perón, Carlos Menem and Néstor Kirchner and Cristina Fernández Kirchner, whose government period will be assessed as one unit. After the basic theory, which includes foreign policy, presidential systems and cultural and historical characteristic and populism, the chosen periods are analysed. Evaluating criteria are the relationship of Argentina with the United States, Europe and Latin America. By comparing those governmental periods several common signs can be found. They are the protection and promotion of world peace, regional integration and diversification of commercial partner states regardless their ideology. Therefore the conclusion is that peronism has had a large influence on the foreign policy of Argentina.

Beranová, Marie ; Horčička, Václav (advisor) ; Valkoun, Jaroslav (referee)
The subject of this thesis is the period of hyperinflation in Germany, as is presented by selected German memoir literature. Attention is paid to essential moments in the development of the German state, on those that have proven key in the devaluation of the German currency. The thesis can be divided into four parts. In the first part, I present selected German memoir literature. The second chapter deals with the Versailles Peace Conference. In the third chapter, I analyze the occupation of the Ruhr region by Franco-Belgian forces and Germany's reaction, taking on the form of politics of passive resistance. The last chapter focuses on the introduction of Rentenmark notes, which made the stabilization of the German currency.
